Bonehead Performance was first established in 2001 with a goal of providing excellent powder coating services along with performance parts for the automotive enthusiast. We are a small father and son owned business. With over 30+ years in the automobile business we know how fast should look. Years have gone by and we have expanded every 2 – 3 years while still achieving our goals. In 2008 we became incorporated and started offering many other custom coatings as well as our specialty; powder coating. These guys are GREAT at what they do. An awesome family business that I’m proud to support when I need the services. Their prices are very fair, their time frames are very reasonable even when they are loaded with work (you usually get it back sooner than said anyway!) and they do great work. I have gotten a set of wheels done as well as motorcycle parts and they have always come out great. They take the time to talk to you about color choices, which there are a ton of. They encourage bringing their samples out to your vehicle to see it in natural light to make sure you get a real feel for the color. They really care about their customer and their quality. Very nice people and the only shop I recommend when it comes to powdercoating.

Bonehead Performance is the only resource we will ever call on for our powder coating needs! Our small business (Photobot 3000!) has used Bonehead on two occasions now and we can say that both times were some of the best examples customer service and quality workmanship we have ever experienced. Their shop may be over an hour form our HQ in South Philadelphia but could not possibly be more worth the trip.
The paint color is impeccable (lipstick red and matte black) and the quality is evident by the years of abuse we’ve given each piece with the most minimal signs of wear and tear.
Overall A+ in customer satisfaction and quality workmanship! They get our vote hands down!!!

While these guys are super nice and all, but when I had my motorcycle frame coated here a while back, they were a bit dismissive when I tried to outline the bearing surfaces and mounts that needed masking, so I assumed they understood, but as I feared they didnt mask any of the areas that needed masking besides threads, and missed a decent size spot on the underside, that and it was almost $ 400, I will go elsewhere next time. Sorry guys. Oh, also, it took twice as long as promised initially.

Dropped 2 sets of wheels off a few weeks ago and was quoted a great price and time frame. Communication was always spot on and the owner is very professional. Top notch work and I plan to take other parts there as well. They have a great selection of colors to choose from too.

When your wife wants a pink bike, the odds are you’re going to have to get her a pink bike. After casually looking for a few months, I came to the realization that finding a mid to upper level pink sports touring frame in her size was about as hopeless as finding another girl who’d let me overrun the house with bicycles. It was time to act… the dreaded repaint.
After talking to numerous people, Bonehead was the most often repeated option for powdercoating. I also called some other places and was less impressed with their experience with bicycles; Bonehead at least knew how to mask off the threads. I was still skeptical… high zoot bike rollers like me look at powdercoating the way a Shakespeare professor would look at Danielle Steele. With trepidation in my heart we want to Bonehead, where my wife also selected the sparkly clearcoat. Heck, I’ve bought De Rosas for less than this commuter frame was going to end up costing. In my mind, all I could think was THIS HAD BETTER LOOK GOOD!
WOW does it look good; If I didn’t know better, I would have thought it was wet paint! The coating isn’t disgustingly thick like I’ve seen some other powdercoat jobs and the lugs still have actual definition! It really looks terrific and yes, it was worth the money. The staff there was extremely helpful and knowledgeable… terrific customer service.

I’ve had 2 bicycles, 2 racks and a stem coated at Bonehead and they do amazing work! When looking around at other shops you may see lower prices, but like they always say, you get what you pay for. The powder coating came out flawlessly and Chuck couldn’t be a nicer guy.

A major step in completely refurbishing my ’83 Schwinn 10 speed was to file down the braze-​ons, and have it powdercoated, so I shopped around for a shop, and corresponded with Chuck, the owner’s son, who was cool enough to discuss the job and invite me to come down to the shop to look around and ask more questions. They do about 5 bicycle frames per week, and are well aware of issues such as taping down the fork stem, so there’s no issue fitting the headset crown race.
Sure enough, they have a nice, clean, well-​organized storefront and garage, and he and his father, Charlie couldn’t have been friendlier. They did a fantastic job on my frame and fork, and, although I’m not a motorcycle or truck guy, per se, I could see what a great job they did on the parts they were coating in the garage. Highly recommended!
