I have been going to Clark brothers for several years now. Bottom line great place to shoot. I have purchased guns from them an ammo and supplies. The guns are priced fair sometimes better than the gun shows. All around great place with old fashioned service and friendly knowledgeable staff. Keep up the great work guys!

Been living in Fauquier for 20-​years and never had stopped in although I have called them a few times over the years looking for specific firearms, which they never did seem to have on hand.
On a crazy whim last week I stopped to see if they had a certain mouse gun that I had backordered from a giant online reseller. Not only did they have it in stock, they were considerably less expensive. Took it home.
Buy their ammo, four targets for a buck and shoot free at their range. Friendly, easy-​going staff make the process simple.
Remember, this is Fauquier County. Some places haven’t changed much over the last decade or two and this place might be one of them. No non-​sense, no bull; there is a certain aura in a country gun store and you can sure find it here.
Highly recommended.

I just like this place a lot. I don’t know why it gets 3 $. Targets are $ 0.25 including tax. Range time is free. Just buy their ammo. Every other place I’ve been charges for the range. Maybe… maybe the guns cost a little more (I don’t really know) but don’t you shoot more often than you buy guns?
The staff and other customers are very friendly. I’m making it a habit to stop whenever I’m nearby.

Came by to zero a weapon this week in between hunting sessions. Team there is just not very friendly or helpful, seemed more put out than anything when buying ammo to zero my weapon. Asked me no questions and took zero interest in me. It’s starting to look run down and the displays are not that great or stocked with much. I asked about what they had in Smith and Wesson 45s. They didn’t have any and made no effort to ask what I was liking about them. I am obviously in the market but these guys were having a bad day. They should take advantage of customers coming in during the middle of the week like this

I enjoyed my first visit. The range fee is built into the price of the ammo which you must purchase from Clark Bros in order to use the range. Fair enough. The staff seem knowledgeable and the atmosphere is welcoming. I felt safe and I like the red/​green light system used to indicate cease-​fire which happens about every 15 minutes and the range boss uses a LOUD AND CLEAR public address system to let everyone know the status of things. Their outdoor range does not have the electric target retrievers that some ranges have but in place of constantly replacing the paper targets as I am used to, I was able to secure multiple targets (which you staple between 2x4s) during one cease fire and this gives you more variety and extends shooting time (this may not always be possible, the lanes near me were available during my visit so there was plenty of usable target area). VERY cool business and I will definitely be back!

This place gets 3.5 stars.
My husband bought a new safe here so we decided to go there an look for an AR for me. When we walked in, nobody greeted us immediately, so we wandered around the store looking at ammo and then just stood at the counter until someone came over to help us. When we were finally asked if we needed help, the gentleman who helped us was very friendly and knowledgeable. He let us look at 2 ARs and gave us his input on both. We were pretty sold on the Ruger, but I needed a few minutes to decide to drop over $ 600 on a gun. So he suggested that we walk around and talk about and he would put the gun in the back (since it was the only one) until we made a decision. I appreciated the extra time to decide and we went ahead and bought it. The service started off a bit slow, but as soon as we got some attention, the guy helping us was great.

Bottom line, anyone who gave this range more than three stars doesn’t know what a good gun range is.
I’ve been to this range on two or three separate occassions. Between those occassions, I have witnessed more dangerous and unreasonable behavoir than I have at every other shooting event I’ve ever been to, combined.
For starters, I made the mistake of going there once on a Friday or Saturday. The range was jam packed and disorganized. When I finally got a bench to zero in my hunting rifle, I had to settle for the left handed side of the bench though I am right handed. The guy on the opposite side of the bench, to my left, was not aiming straight down range. He had a rifle which he was aiming at a target at least 15 yards to his right, meaning that he was aiming at least 30 to 45 degrees off from the downrange direction. The angle was so bad, I was worried he was going to shoot the end of my barrel. This was apparently OK with the «range master».
On another occassion, I was shooting from a bench and the guy to my left was shooting a shotgun. Apparently he was firing while standing, at a bench spot where they don’t allow standing. So the «range master», in all his infinite wisdom, does not come over the intercom to tell him to sit down. Instead, he walks up behind the guy while he is handling a live 12 gauge, abruptly puts a hand on his shoulder, and tries to force the guy to sit without saying anything. So what if this guy had fallen over with his finger on the trigger? My wife could have been a widow, thanks to the guy whose sole responsibility is to improve range safety. Not too bright to physically accost someone from behind while they are handling a live firearm; this is the single most dangerous thing I have seen at any firearm range ever, and it was done by they guy who is an employee or volunteer for the organization.
On yet another occassion, someone got confused and went down range after the range master had called ceasefire, but apparently before the range master said ‘all clear to go down range’. So the range master gets over the intercom, and says «looks like we have a moving target down range». No joke, the guy literally made a joke about shooting at a person, at a firing range full of a bunch of strangers.
I would not go back to this range under any circumstances for safety reasons alone. Besides that, the ammo is expensive and the facility isn’t that nice.

The good:
Staff is very knowledgable, humble, and helpful.
Prices are more than a big box, but not out of line for an independent store.
Selection is better than average.
Range master is polite and reasonable.
The Bad:
The majority of the customers are asshatts.
On the range, guy sits down on the other side of the bench from me and starts throwing hot brass in my face from his AR. On the other side of me I have another guy constantly bumping into me as I’m sitting and shooting. Kids loading rifles on a cold range.
WTF people???

Don’t use their range. Waste of time and money. Use NRA or blue ridge instead. Ammo is a rip off and the range officers are on power trips.

I make it out here when I can, these guys are a bit out of the way for me but the benefit is that they have 100 yards to shoot which is nice for my Remington 700 .308 for zero applications and grouping. Prices are what they are, you don’t pay for the hour or lane but you pay for their targets and their ammo so… I guess they’re a little more expensive as most rifle ammo is more than $ 20 I guess. But its a nice facility, lots of safety rules like no rapid fire and no holster shooting so that’s a little restrictive but its all in the name of safety.

Would have loved to go there — but they don’t allow fully auto (they are outdoors for goodness sake!) and their .223 starts at $ 12 and up (which you must purchase there). When you can get it on cheaper than dirt for $ 6.90 a box, that’s not just a mark-​up, that’s literally a stick-​up. Oh, you have to buy their targets, too, and they are only open M-​F from 9 to 5. What is it, a gun range, or a bank? Maybe it’s because I shoot 240 to 380 rounds a week, but it’s simply prohibitively expensive and inconvenient to purchase everything from them just to shoot.

I love the outdoor range there– pretty simple. Just make sure you buy your ammo there or get bounced off. The shop has a good selection of guns of all types and accessories and ammo. Nothing beats shooting outdoors!

I used to really like this place. It hit all the good-​olé-​boy nerves in my body as a bastion of where I’d go to put some lead down range and revel in the fact that I still live in America no matter how much the «Land of Shitty Drivers» tries to sap the red blood from my patriotic soul. But today was the last straw.
I don’t live in a «gun culture» and neither do I have time to spend pumping boxes of ammo down a range every day. I just need some reliable firearms I can have at the ready for situations that may call for them. So when I go in asking for some advice, I want to hear well-​informed, intelligent thoughts on a potential firearm purchase. I DO NOT need to be treated like I just discovered the concept of a firearm. Don’t tell me that barrel length does not affect accuracy at all. I get that barrel length means nothing except for muzzle velocity, but a longer barrel means a longer sight picture which means a more stable platform which means I can shoot more reliably, especially under stress. You don’t have to try to prove you know more than me. You work in a shop that sells firearms with a range out back you can use any moment you have free time. I have to drive a minimum of forty five minutes just to get to a range. I work in an office where I have to go through security tighter than an airport every day where so much as my cufflinks set in motion a security event to rival Mr. I Hate America bringing in a dirty bomb. I am barely able to handle a firearm once a week, and that’s only because I have to hide them from my nephews. You know more than me about firearms; I knew that walking in the door. Fucking golf pros and gun salesman are the worst about trying to show you how much more they know than you. Most likely it’s because that’s all they know. I want you to be well informed, not a pedantic douchebag.
Keep condescending to people, with your high-​school education, and watch how few firearms they purchase from you. Hint: the answer is somewhere less than one.
Oh, and the prices are somewhere North of obnoxious.

In all seriousness this is an awesome range. The people that go here are responsible and they take their gun-​safety seriously. One thing I appreciate about this place is the people aren’t flashy. There isn’t a pretentious bone in the bodies of the people that own/​run this place. The clientele is also down to earth. Everyone is friendly!
There is a Subway across the street if you want a bite to eat or coffee. Or if your snooty friends/​mates/​family needs to get away from the loud noises. Ha — kidding.

Nothing flashy, not many wannabe commando ego trip types. The range officer doesn’t say much and will leave you to shoot unless you are doing something unsafe or spotted shooting ammo not purchased there. Very low key compared to the other ranges in VA more specifically northern VA.

I’ve been coming here for 30+ years. Great place to buy, firearms, ammo, and reloading supplies. Shooting out in back is an additional plus.

The only outdoor range in the area, I have to drive an hour and 20 minutes to get there on weekends. I go there to sight my AR14 or Ak47 since most indoor gun range distance are to short and no seating while shooting.
They are experts on ammo price gouging ! The range is «free» but you can say that you pay for the range when you buy their ammo. I would have given them 4.5 stars if they sold ammo at a fair price. Go buy ammo at almost half price up the road in at a gun store in downtown Warrenton call, Warrenton Arms and Outdoors.
Sunday’s crowd dies down a bit around lunch time and that’s when I don’t really have to wait.

Bought my first handgun there over the weekend. The process was quick and very easy, customer service was great too. They switched the mag release per my request right then and there, didn’t take long at all.
They had a pretty large selection, but I knew what I wanted and they were the only store in a 50 mile radius that had the gun I was looking for.
Didn’t use their range, but everything else was great!

Great range. Decent pricing on ammunition considering the shelves were pretty much empty. Lots of guns to purchase however you can not rent anything to shoot here. The range is free to use as long as you purchase their ammunition to fire on the range.

What a brutally sad display. No I don’t mean on selection, I mean the screw all attitude that has infected this seemingly decent gun shop.
The paper wrapped 7.62×52 sitting on an end cap inside the door caught my eye first. $ 14+ for 20 rounds! Way to gouge your customers guys, great job!
I just had a case of this ammo delivered to my door for UNDER $ 200 so lets round it off at $ 200 shall we. 880 rounds for $ 200.
I will also round their price DOWN to $ 14 per 20. bringing their price to you per case to $ 616.00!!! their punishment for being a customer went up & up from there.
Some poor guy walked in at the same time i did with his 308 to sight it in at their range, the shock was almost tangable as he promptly started to find an exit plan when he was faced with the cost for what he no doubt planed would be a little fun for an afternoon. Yeah, I won’t be back.

I will agree with some other reviewers that certain employees and range officers here can be a little short, but I would never call them rude. That said, none of them have been bad enough that it would prevent me from returning.
I usually shoot on weekday mornings and never have to deal with any crowds. However if you go on a Friday after 10am or any time during the weekend expect a huge crowd and to have to wait a while to find an open spot.
The range itself is great. It’s always clean, and offers many different distances to shoot both pistols and rifles at. Yes you have to buy their ammo, and yes their ammo is priced higher than buying it at Wal-​Mart. However, what people don’t understand is the range itself is free to use with their ammo. So the mark up on the ammo, most times, will equal out to the same price you would have to pay to use a different range with your own ammo. They only way this place wouldn’t make sense to shoot at is if you reload your own ammo. Also, you can stay as long as you like, even if you don’t buy tons of ammo. I like this because when I shoot my riffles I don’t put hundreds or rounds down range. I take my time, make sure I’m getting good results, and just enjoy myself. You can’t find this at any other ranges that charge by the hour.
Overall I like going to Clark Brothers. I enjoy shooting outside, and I enjoyed the relaxed approach regarding the time you can stay there and shoot. It far out weighs having to deal with certain employees that seem like they don’t like their jobs…

The only other gun range I have been to was a desert out in California. So when we pulled under that big bear on Route 29 I wasn’t sure what to expect other than loud noises. I got those and more.
Their staff was really friendly on the range when we were out there. One guy even told me that I could rent a gun from the shop free. Any gun. Naturally, I chose a shotgun seeing as how my first shot of the day came from a pistol-​grip pump. Awesome. Going with a group was a plus because we split the cost for ammo (you do have to buy theirs — and I was told kinda pricey, but I don’t have much experience buying ammo).
They had skeet shooters that were open all day and the range wasn’t crowded at all. First time I shot it, and it was easily the second most fun. The first was shooting an AK-​47 (I’ve wanted to since Counter-​Strike 1.3).
I can easily see myself back here again.
