Always a good choice for lunch when in the downtown Warrenton area. Seating is very limited, but there are a few tables outside when weather permits. The quiche is always great and I don’t think any place in Warrenton can beat their soups. The grilled cheese on sourdough is amazing! It can get a little chaotic during the lunch rush, so be sure to check your take out bag before leaving. Twice I’ve ended up with someone else’s sandwich and was missing my sandwich once.

We had the tuna melt, and the BLT– very good and a cute atmosphere! We also had a great carrot cake and a snickerdoodle cookie. They close early though– get in while you can!

Renee and her team make the lunch experience happy and tasty. Soups are the best and I enjoy the Quiche and Salad on the healthy side. They offer very amazing home made Iced Tea in various flavors. Staff is great — friendly and helpful. And they have a cool Friends and Fans program where you get a free cookie — got to like free stuff…

The Roasted red pepper soup is absolutely delicious! Very warm, and comforting — especially on a cold, rainy day. I also ordered a veggie melt– which included spinach, a tomato slice, Swiss cheese, and a sauce– which I could not determine what it was. It seemed like a cross between tartar and mayo– kind of. I also got a brownie– which was chewy and very moist — but the taste was okay. I wasn’t super impressed with it, but I was blown away by the soup so I will be back again!

I’ve stopped in here twice to eat lunch. It’s a great place to get something delicious to go. There are only about 4 chairs available along one counter to accommodate those that want to eat in. So be warned! The first time I visited, I ordered the She-Crab soup(apparently only available on Friday’s) and the House salad. I first encountered this soup at the nearby Claire’s At The Depot. It’s an awesomely delicious creamy crab soup — very flavorful and contains lots of crab meat! The salad is mixed greens with pecans, cranberries, blue cheese, and a Balsamic vinaigrette. An absolutely yummy and divine little salad! I ate in the first time I visited. The second time I visited — I went once again with just the House Salad — to go. As before, it was delicious! Can’t wait to visit again and try out some other menu items!

Stopped in for a quick bite yesterday. I assume it was Renee who was eager and willing to help me with the«procedure» for acquiring food. She explained that you could pick up whatever you wanted, eat it, then pay. I had the she crab soup, which was unbelievably wonderful, along with half an egg salad on wheat sandwich from the cooler, which was only a dollar extra if you had soup. It was all so good, I bought oatmeal raisin cookies and a piece of carrot cake to take home. The cookies were very good. The carrot cake was the best! Can’t wait to go back to Warrenton to visit again. Will take my husband or a friend to enjoy it the next time.

Looking for lunch in Warrenton but don’t want to settle for a footlong Subway? Then walk down 3rd St, just a half block off Main in Old Town, and try a soup and/or sandwich at Renee’s Gourmet. This little jewel box serves up the best sandwiches and soup in town. Seinfeld’s had the the Soup Nazi, Renee is the Soup Sweetheart of Warrenton. Her soups are amazing. Savory, rich and satisfying. The care and craft that Renee brings to her soup is also evident in the sandwich selection. My fave is the Ragin-Cajun. It has a sweet and spicy kick that makes me smile. This is a lunch only place that is open Monday thru Friday. Counter seating inside and patio seating for good weather days. I highly recommend Renee’s Gourmet for a memorable lunch in Old Town Warrenton.

Friday is She Crab Soup day… count me in ! You have the choice of small, large and jumbo. The jumbo is $ 15 bucks. The large is $ 5 and quite adequate for a meal w/a sandwich. I had the turkey with swiss on whole wheat; a winning combo. Best for takeout, parking can be a challenge. Renee is a pleasent lady and she is quite proud of the soup variety she prepares. She talked about cold carrot and butternut but was most enthusiastic about her Thurday chili… hmmm…I shall return!

My first experience at Renee’s — & it was a good one! I had The Raging’ Cajun sandwich on multigrain bread(no onions). Yummmm! It’s jalepeno pepper jelly, pepper jack cheese, & turkey — served warm. It’s the perfect amount of bite if you like spicy food. I also tried the Spiced Iced Tea(labeled as sweet tea). It was interesting, but pretty good. After I ordered, I read about the she-crab soup. I’ll definitely try that next time! Just a side note, it is a more expensive lunch option. The food is good, but it’ll run you about $ 10 for lunch. The inside is very small & not really accomodating for eating inside. They offer a couple small tables outside, but it’s best for getting to go.

We looked on Unilocal for a place to grab food on our way to a wine tasting. This place came up and it was close by. It turned out to be a little deli in a secluded rural area. I guess it’s a good place for locals to grab a bite when they want some deli food. The sandwiches were pretty good, nice and toasty with good selection of deli meat. The cole slaw, however, was not too great.

Had She-crab soup, and it was the best crab soup I have ever tasted. The BLT was great, too. The tomato in the sandwich was flavorful. I feel lucky to have found this place while visiting Warrenton. Prices seem reasonable, while quality and taste are well above the norm for a tiny place.

WOW! My husband just brought me a cup of she-crab soup for lunch. OMG it is wonderful! Thick with large chunks of crab and a slight hint of spicy heat. Homemade soup at it’s finest! He said the ladies in there were the friendliest, sweetest ladies he has ever met in Warrenton. Bear in mind, this is the same guy that freaked at the slab of pork butt in the BBQ place and refuses, still, to go to Frog & Friends, so for him to say the ladies were great is a huge event. (The she-crab is only available on Fridays according to the menu included in my lunch bag) This is tiny little building on a side street in old town Warrenton. They are are only open from 10am to 3 pm Mon-Fri. Sandwich prices range from $ 4.50 for grilled cheese to $ 5.50 for hot turkey reuben. They also have desserts and pies. Blueberry crumb cake(also in my lunch) is great. Not too sweet, lots of crumbly crunchy brown sugar bits on top… lovely Try it, I don’t think you will be dissappointed.
