Awesome BBQ. This place found us at the perfect time. Excellent pulled pork sandwich. Smokey meat with fabulous BBQ sauce — tangy, not too sweet. Black pepper fries the perfect accompaniment. My only complaint is I couldn’t buy a t-shirt. They were out of larges. Worth the trip for sure!

Terrible. Honestly. The BBQ wasn’t good. Ordered burnt ends… We did not have a piece that was charred at all. The food came out luke warm, almost cold. The burnt ends were thrown on a plate by themselves. The server dropped fries on our table. The table didn’t have BBQ sauce, ketchup OR napkins, we had to grab it ourselves. The kitchen was out of ribs. Seriously, a place that prides itself on ribs — they were out… during lunch. on a weekend. The entire experience was mostly listening to the chef scream out«PAUL…TYLER!» over and over. To top it off, we waited over 20 minutes to get our bill and our debit card back. Our card was charged over $ 50 for a $ 30 meal. I tried to call the phone number in the yellow pages to get them to fix it and it is disconnected. Don’t even get me started on the state of the ladies bathroom… Ugh. Being from Kansas City, I love BBQ. This place isn’t good BBQ. Or service. Period.

Stopped here while we were out on the motorcycles to visit one of my friends family members. The décor is full of signs and pictures not to shabby for a bbq restaurant in the sticks. I can only talk about the dessert I ordered since we weren’t staying long. I ordered the peanut butter pie, it was a nice big slice. From start to finish the pie was delicious, could have been a tad colder but nothing to be concerned about in my opinion. Are waitress, was really nice and a joy to talk with, sadly I can’t remember her name to send people her tables. I believe the next time we’re in the area wanting bbq we will stop here to try it out.

We have been searching for a great BBQ place around our home. We have tried a couple places in Sedalia and had been left wanting, either by the food, the service, or the sauce. The Smokeshack has won our business. What I appreciate is that the smoke flavor matches the smoke smell you notice when you step out of your car. I ordered the hoggin with a mix of pulled pork and brisket. The wife ordered half a chicken. In addition I ordered three ribs on the side. Their sides were really good. I had the beans and the black pepper fries. My only criticism was the beans could have been hotter temp wise. They were really good tasting so the lower temp is probably a good thing(no one likes a blister on their tongue or the roof of the mouth) because you will want to dive into those babies. Our waitress Jamie was on the ball. She made sure our cups were not empty and she was attentive to all the customers at the store. She made some good recommendations and was friendly.

I had a burnt ends sandwich. It was ok, but maybe I’m spoiled from the Kansas City, BBQ. Portions being served looked enormous which frankly seemed gluttonous and was somewhat of a turn off. I’ll take quality over quantity, please. Definitely find out how much you’ll be getting because you may want to split plates. The staff is really friendly and welcoming.

While it has a dive like atmosphere, the waitress was friendly and the barbeque was very good. I had half-rack of ribs and they came out with a strong smokey flavor. The ribs I had were almost — but not quite — burnt outside. This created a crust with a strong flavor, with sause to cut the flavor it was quite enjoyable. The ribs were trimmed or just good quality because there was very little fat on them. The french fries with cracked pepper were also very good. The pepper flavor is not strong but it adds something to the potatoes. I can’t remember the other side on my plate, so I guess it wasn’t exceptional. My colleague ordered the slaw and it had a marinated look to it. Not typical of what I see in most restaurants. I also found room for a piece of the peanut butter pie. If you like this type of pie be sure to get it.

Best prime rib anywhere around. The best my grandparents have had in 50 years and that was in South Dakota. The cracked black pepper fries and the barbecue is awesome as well! Recommended by all who enjoy nice dining and great barbecue.

We decided to stop at this place on our way back from a float trip down the Niangua. We were slightly nervous about trying a random BBQ joint on the side of the highway, but after finding out the story behind the owner cooking for a few NFL teams, he were definitely interested in checking this place out and we were not dissapointed one bit. As soon as we got out of our car, the smokey smell captivated us. There was a rather unique crowd inside from bikers to hippies, family’s and couples, but everyone there looked to be enjoying their food. I was very impressed with the pulled pork sandwich I had. It came on their home made bread(texas toast style) with a couple of sides that were very tasty as well. Our server was awesome. I felt like I was in Grandma’s kitchen and she was taking care of the family. I will definitely try to stop at this place every time I come through this area!

This is a small place with very attentive waitstaff. The booths appear to have been borrowed from a Pizza Hut. The pulled pork sandwich is served on either a bun or homemade toasted bread. The barbeque beans seem to be a combination of pinto and white beans. The coleslaw is vinegar based. The restaurant is owned by a retired NFL photographer named Rusty Nail, according to the back of the menu.
