Boneyard Barbeque & Saloon

I went here on a recommendation recently. As someone who prefers bbq food above most others, I really wanted to like this place. Upon entering the restaurant did not have the feel and appearance I was expecting. Is it a bbq restaurant or a biker bar? Is it trying to be both? Once I got past the appearance I started to look through the menu. Similar to many other restaurant of its kind, but also lacking many standout selections, unique inclusions and anything that would make it a better choice than others in the state that I’ve tried before.
That this came from multiple recommendations that pushed me in this direction I was expecting it to live up to that, or I just have different standards of what these recommendations indicate. Once seated the wait was close to fifteen minutes with no indication, after numerous glances towards the bar, the current waitstaff (which was only 2 people at that time). I had hoped a closed menu and looking bored without leaving would motivate the waitstaff to come over to take my order but several tries to do so without drawing obnoxious attention to myself was my own fault.
Food was OK, later attention to empty drinks and following refills was good. The experience did not encourage me to go back. Maybe I’m being picky, or my friends are the type of people who like to have others experience the same mistakes they did. Either way, it is highly unlikely I will return.

I’ve been driving by this place all week and I have been dying to stop in so last night I decided to try it.
The place is kinda small inside, but it wasn’t busy so it was not a problem. We sat down right away and ordered.
The menu had some interesting sauce combinations one in particular, Teri-​q, caught my eye. I ordered Teri-​q and I did not know what to expect. Also, I ordered them in the «jumbo wings» which is their bone-​in wings.
Our wings took about 20 minutes to come out. I believe they are made to order so they take a little bit longer than average.
We got our wings and were not disappointed. The Teri-​q flavor was sooooooo good and the wings were nice and juicy! I couldn’t believe how good the sauce was. I wasn’t expecting to Iike it as much as I did!
I will be back and I will bring some more of my friends. I would love to try some new sauces as well!

Great selection of wings and dry rubs for fries. Not your fancy kind of high end place, but good down-​home food… Staff may be a bit rough, but I like that… If you’re a jerk, you will be treated as such! If you ride on a high horse… move along down the road. This isn’t your place.
BTW…just my opinion obviously. I like this place and don’t want it changing its identity to curtail a few donkeys!

Missed this locale on the RI Food Fights’ Lord of the Wings, but wound up meeting halfway with a friend from Narragansett. Delicious fried mac and cheese balls, saddled up with three orders of wings with the wing special. In all honesty, the lengthy list of «rules» are pretty standard at places that do wing days, so it was no big deal. My problem was the minimum of ten per order — I was stuffed!
The wings themselves were very satisfying, slightly crispy on the outside, pretty solid meat on the inside; ordered Boneyard Paradise, equivalent to French Toast Wings, and the Cheddar Dry Rub, which wound up being my favorite. Not a whole lot of heat in the two-​flame Boneyard Paradise, but all flavors were very good. Inside was clean, service was good.

The wings are excellent, the staff and owner are very nice and accommodating. We had issues with a few dishes but they always made it right in the end. The chicken tenders are huge and tasty and the variety of sauces is nice too. Tasty burgers as well!

Pursuant to my mediocre review of boneyard the bartender I mentioned (Kathleen g.) has begun harassing me via Unilocal.Goes to show. Small fish bowl, small fish. Spend your money at the many other places in the area. Here is the latest message I got from her. Nothing like veiled threats to start a Sunday off right.

Hey Brian there was a bar there called Backstreet you goof, and in your bs reply you said you had shiner beer which is a complete lie!!! Grow up!!! Wings were delicious, but 1 little cup of blue cheese and 4 celery for 32 wings? No salsa came with our potachos, we also ordered pulled chicken on them but received pork. Ordered pulled pork on my potato skins and got bacon. There were no customers in the place, they could have taken a second to check the order for accuracy before sending it out. Or a second to double check before preparing it? We have ordered take out twice and both times were messed up.
Just an add, I let who I think is the manager know there was a problem with my order. rather than apologize and ask what happened, he is questioning if I called to let them know there was a problem? To teach them how to do their jobs more effectively? I think that’s your job bro.

They charge for blue cheese –_​_​_​– order wings and you have to pay for blue cheese, I prefer my wings to come with blue cheese. Good wings and a variety of flavors, the wings are on the small side

So, here’s my review. I went to backyard for the Lord of the wings challenge. Now the place itself is very biker bar esque, just keep that in mind. My friend and I went for lunch on a Friday and it was pretty quiet. I ordered the apple citrus bbq wings and quite honestly they were awesome. The wings were by far the biggest I’ve had at any of the wing places thus far and they were cooked really well. My friend had the tenders with a dragon buffalo and the tenders were extremely large as well. The selection of sauces were pretty extensive and it seems like they really try to get new flavors and ideas. The tenders were great as well and my friend didn’t finish all of his so I chowed down some more. The owner came and talked with us himself for and bit and he was a great guy. He seemed into what he does and he brought us put some chips and new sauces he’s been working on for our input. For hospitality alone, this place was awesome. And I know it’s trivial, but they had thick and really good quality hand wipes on the table, without us even having to ask. Which honestly is a nice touch. All in all, the place may look sketch, but it’s worth the venture.

The previous comments are harsh. If you’re looking for a 5 star bbq rib meal, then you might end up disappointed here. If you’re looking for delicious, fairly priced wings, then this is the spot. It’s small, but really cranks business out. We went in on a Friday, got seats right at the bar and our bartender, Tammie was wonderful! She was attentive and informative. The whole time we sat at the bar, all the staff members were hustling around. The wings are easily the best I’ve had in Rhode Island, which is saying a lot considering I eat wings everywhere I go.
If you want to get 4 different sauces on 8 wings and be able to carry out on wing night, go to Buffalo Wild Wings where they can afford to give them out for free. This is a small business so I understand the limitations. We will definitely be back!

The food is good. The service is not. The bartenders don’t know what they have. The servers clear tables with phones connected to their hands. (Seriously… Put it down for 1 minute, you won’t die) I really wanted to like this place, but after bringing my friend from out of town to experience a local bar here… I can confidently say I’m not impressed.

Returned as part of Lord Of The Wings. Knowing what to expect with wings (free is free) I decided to add on some ribs to the order.
They were terrible. Overcooked — dry on the inside and doused in sauce. Our server last time was way better and though issue someone who I assumed was the owner visiting tables — he never found his way to ours — even after complaining to the uninterested waitress.
At least some of it was free.

Was drawn here because we had the Food Fights coupon for free wings. We ended up ordering a bunch of food. At first glance I can’t help but think they are trying to be just like Boneheads in West Warwick. EVERYTHING is identical, from the rock band décor, license plates, to the variety of wings. I do have to say though, the wings were amazing as was the nachos that are on homemade potato chips!
We got the Insanity wings (super hot but they were tolerable and I loved them) and the Peanut Butter and jelly wings (I was not a fan but others enjoyed). They also charge $ 1 per ranch or blue cheese dressing but don’t tell you this until the bill surprises you. Their beer selection is not for anyone who drinks craft beers as they just carry the generic beers but I am sure that matches their anticipated clintele, good deals on wings and beer so it would be a great place to watch the game.
The waitress was phenominal, provided suggestions, was super attentive, gave tons of napkins, so personable, I was very impressed with the service. So I would absolutely return because the wings were delicious and service was amazing! I am sure they will do very well there!

Just ordered the Combo for myself. Huge portions for the price. Was only able to get through about half of the rack and the wings. Medium sauce was good, should have gone with Hot. Also wings were cooked perfect but I prefer crispy, so I will ask for them crispy next time. First time here and did not know how they cooked their wings. Some places default to crispy, so when you ask for «crispy», you get burnt match sticks.
Ribs were amazing. Great dry rub on them and the meat fell right off of the bone. BBQ sauce on side had a great flavor and little bite to it. Lots of different sauce options for wings and bbq. Can’t wait to try some of the others. Good service and friendly staff.

I’ve eaten here 4 times so far and I’d like to give it 3 ½ stars but that isn’t possible. I sat at the bar twice and the service was great and the bartender was friendly and efficient, i got take out once and it was ready quickly and was correct even though it was a large order with some special requests, the other time i sat at a table and the service was great and the proprietor even came over to thank us for our buisness and asked if everything was to our liking. The beer is cold and they have a nice selection. I think the ribs are very good with a nice dry rub and very tender moist meat. They are accompanied by a nice zesty bbq sauce and served a la carte. I get a side of shoestring fries and a side of coleslaw which I think should be an entrée option on the menu but it’s not. You must order each item separately. I would like to see cornbread on the menu also because I think bbq and cornbread go hand-​in-​hand. The other thing that keeps me from giving them 4 stars is that the boneless chicken tenders are always a little tough. They are tasty and fairly juicy but just don’t have that tender consistency and crunchy coating I’m looking for. For now this is my favorite place for ribs and cold beer.

Disappointing. Service was good, fun atmosphere, average prices, food was mixed… ribs were terrible, tenders were juicy inside but the exterior had so little coating they had a rubbery consistently. Thought the homemade chip appetizer would come out hot/​fresh, but they were clearly cooked hours ago. Sides were good, and some of the sauces were really good.
Now this place has about 40 – 50 sauces to chooses from, very exciting if you are like me and like to try many of them. What really blows is they charge $ 1 for each additional 1 oz soufflé cup. A DOLLAR FOR ONE OUNCE OF SAUCE. Its incredible how they were able to take one of their biggest strengths and turn it into the biggest dissapointment of the night. Plus, as another Unilocaler posted, the rules for the 45 cent wing/​tender night are down right obnoxious. If the financial burden of the food is so bad that you need to charge absurd prices for things that most places dont charge for at all, and you need to impose rules that would make the «soup nazi» blush, then maybe you should rethink your prices and/​or business model.
$ 49 with tax and tip for 2 people, no alcohol, ½ rack ribs, 10 tenders, 3 sides, 1 potato chip appetizer, 1 soda… and 3 cups of sauce.

Rough reviews so far! I’ve been in a couple of times and have no complaints. Like any new place they probably had a few kinks to work out. They still have Tammie and Kathleen on the bar and you’ll have a tough time finding better service than that!

I have been here twice. The first time I gave it the benefit of the doubt. It was Veterans Day, they advertised ½ off for vets. We go in and that changes, it become 10% but changes back after we mention what the sign says. Then they say all the soda is flat. Next we find out that the lights flicker but there is nothing they can do and it has always been like that. Next, they mix up our orders. After that we are told we can’t split the check. Then they do slips the check for the sake of the discount but they won’t discount the drinks so now people own on multiple bills and it is a mess. That was the first time. The next time we go in at 2:45pm, we order, so far, so good. There are only like two other couples there. Forty five minutes later everyone around us gets their food including people who just walked in. Our waitress comes over and clearly has no idea what we ordered. We refresh her memory and then asks if our order had not been entered. She lies and says something about all the take out orders. By the way, I didn’t see one person come in for takeout. Nonetheless we finally get our food at 4:10– one hour and twenty five minutes later. Bottom line: food is good but not that good. The service sucks and it is not worth it. Do yourself a favor, drive the extra couple miles and go to boneheads. (At least they let you choose more than one sauce).
