Quality Behavioral Health

I have been going to Quality Behavioral Health for a little under a year. I have to say that I love it there, or maybe it is my absolutely amazing psychiatrist Dr. Mailhot that has made my experience an outstanding one! She is by far the best doctor I have ever had! I am completely comfortable when talking about my life and mental illnesses with her! She is very compassionate and understanding! I do not think I will ever switch doctors! I am very satisfied there! My therapist Anna is wonderful also!

I have no complaints about the majority of the staff, but «Doctor» ruggiano is the most closed-​minded physician I’ve ever seen. After 8 months of seeing various specialists for various symptoms stemming from a hyper responsive central nervous system, and having that diagnosis confirmed over and over, John diagnosed me after 5 minutes with bipolar based solely on family history, not personal history and symptom expression. He wanted to treat my anxiety and panic attacks with lamictal, a mood stabilizer used for people with bipolar. Sadly, he fails to understand that anxiety is not caused by one single mechanism, and therefore cannot be treated with one single treatment. There is a major difference between anxiety caused by a hyper responsive central nervous system, and mood instability, and if that is not recognized, then it cannot be treated properly. It’s the equivalent of trying to treat a viral infection with an antibiotic. The mechanisms are entirely different, and cannot be treated the same way. Central nervous system depressants such as gaba agonists and benzodiazepines are the only way to chemically treat severe anxiety and panic attacks caused by a hyper responsive central nervous system, and someone that has chosen psychiatry as a specialty and practiced it for over 45 years should be able to understand and acknowledge that. Some doctors are just not meant to practice medicine and don’t deserve the power and responsibility that comes with it. It’s time to step down, John, and be replaced by someone more capable of properly treating the people that put their life and well-​being in your hands.

This place is a joke. The doctors are very one sided and don’t care about what works for you or how you feel. They will treat you as a lab rat and have you trying 6 different medications at once. I tried for 11 days to get a call back from «Deb» who was the doctor (I guess), that took me off my medication that I had been on for months that was working great, to try a concoction of dangerous meds with crazy side effects. I had been calling because the medications she switched me to were not working for panic and anxiety attacks and I just wanted to go back to the prescription I was on before I went to see these quacks. She avoided my calls for 11 days even after I had told her secretary that I was having chest pains with panic attacks since she started switching my medications. They don not use Xanax or Ativan at all no matter how long the patient has been on it, this says a lot about how one sided and bias towards the drug company reps they work with are. Stay away from this place, find a real behavioral health specialist who actually cares and listens.

My wife and I have both been patients at this practice for quite some time. Maybe we have been luckier than the previous posters, but I have not found it to be that bad. We have received good care from Drs. Kisch and Ruggiano, as well as as Joyce and Pat D for counseling. They have managed to keep us out of inpatient hospitalization which is quite remarkable. The office manager Judy is a very nice lady, as is Nancy who handles the billing.
Three stars only for the following reasons: I don’t like the no drink policy. If its just water, why not? My mouth gets dry from the medications that I take. Certain providers are ALWAYS LATE. If this were my job, I would have been fired for sure. Las, there are a couple of staff who didn’t not seem to like it there, or are just rude If they are having a bad day, they need to learn how to fake it. If you have the right counselor and doctor, you will do fine, but be forewarned about the other things.

If I could give 0 stars I so would! Does not prescribe xanax or valium-​even when most needed for a patient! Was last seen late last spring (May)by my NP here! She left in November & I was not notified about her leaving-​when I called in December to try to see her again! Mind you I had to deal with a move & other personal private things for the reason I did not see her for a time & she knew it that I just moved & the other stuff I was going through I notified her about all this by calling her office & speaking with someone & they told me they would forward it to her! Also I told her in person during our last appt for now that we had! It’s not like I went years or something without seeing her! Practice failed to notify me! Also don’t bring in a flavored water that is in color-​I just made up a bottle with a drink packet at my house one time & had to dump it! They don’t reimburse you for that-​mind you again I am on a fixed low income & had to throw away money because of their practice «rules» & I so can’t afford to do that! I have brought it in before & nothing was ever said to me about it! They talk about no food or drink but one time I reached my hand under a waiting room chair & gum fell off the bottom of the chair and into my hand-​so gross & disgusting! People with mental & emotional disorders & issues should be notified & their not! You don’t do that to people w/​mental& emotional issues&disorders-should be treated w/​love& care, kid gloves,& not done that way! No care or decency to let you know! Also I was seeing a woman there for counseling & the woman always made it about my mom & not me! Always cut me off to talk to my mom & about how things made her feel & what she thinks-​not me & I was her client! I never felt appt’s were about me & for me! I did break down crying the other day & been so distraught & depressed by that & everything that happened to me here & how I was done here! So much for patient centered care & happiness + satisfaction! You have been fairly warned & extreme beware this place! This place is the exact reason why you hear about stuff on the news with shootings & such + why the drug abuse & addiction rate continues to rise & is so rampant & why there is alcoholics & also why the suicide & self harm rate continues to climb & is so rampant!

I work in health care and this is the worst office I have ever been to in my entire life. All the secretaries there act like you owe them something or like it’s some big task TO DO THEIR JOB. Fax something, ask the doctor to fill my script, make an appointment. That’s their job!!! Yet, somehow they can’t seem to do it. It’s like they sit around and scratch their butts all day. Seriously, when I had waited a week to get my script filled and called everyday to ask if they sent it to the pharmacy all they could say was that they would call me back (which they never did!). When I finally got to see my doctor he told me he knew nothing about it. I couldn’t believe it. They need a whole new front desk staff and a competent office manager. They’re all divas who are too good to do people a service. I’m a secretary myself and when a patient calls and asks if I can fax something for them… I fax it! It literally takes less than a minute. They’re awful. Never go here. Mind you I’ve waited an hour in the waiting room for my appointment many times. It’s not worth it. Save yourself the trouble. I’m currently looking for a new doctor. You’re stressed from depression and anxiety and you leave there with even more stress, depression, and anxiety.

I was trying to set up an appointment to see a new shrink they do accept medicare but not medicaid, the only problem is that they want a co-​pay I would say $ 58.00, Do I look like I’m rich or something no wonder why the mentally ill don’t want to seek help because people like this are more concerned with their pockets and not the client the mental health system sucks in the USA it’s bad enough society looks down on the mentally ill and not want to help or they want is a hand out and that’s wrong, I guess I won’t be going there then
