Attache Corporate Housing

The locations of these apartments are good and the spaces seem to be unique/​have potential but I was disappointed by the second apartment that I stayed in in particular (a studio off Dupont Circle). Most of the windows in the studio did not open and all of the windows except for the one in the bathroom were frosted/​had bars on them since it was a ground floor apartment. The room, as a result, felt dark and enclosed. The window sills were also in need of cleaning and the paint in some places on the walls was cracking. The room was clean but not, in my opinion, particularly well maintained (the paint on the tub had peeled in places, there were some small stains on walls…). It was not the kind of place you would want to spend a lot of time in. The first apartment I stayed in was definitely nicer (and also more expensive) but the windows in that apartment also didn’t seem to open and the air conditioning unit seemed a bit haphazardly placed. It was, however, nicely decorated, bright, and pretty clean. I didn’t like the lockbox where you have to pick up the keys; it was very dirty and rather difficult to open. Overall, the apartments seem to be pretty expensive for what you get.

Beautiful and convenient spaces! Extremely pricey, even for DC. $ 2500 for a studio is outrageous, I don’t care where on the planet you live. But if you can afford it, its worth it for the furniture and locations.

My boyfriend and I are having a nice time living in an Attaché apartment here in DC. We were a bit nervous about moving here without seeing the apartment first, but Katherine gave us a virtual skype tour to ease our worries. The whole process was pretty seamless — the initial communication, virtual tour, lease signing, moving in… The apartment is clean, nicely decorated and well-​furnished. Paul has been timely and helpful in assisting us with additional requests. Highly recommended!

I’m living in a house managed by Attaché and they are great. They respond quickly, fix what needs to be fixed, etc. They even have happy hours every so often which is a nice touch.
Just to mention one item, once I got locked out and they came within 30 minutes with a whole box of keys. None of them worked. It looks like they had misplaced the keys and in the end, we had to cut the screen to get back into the house. It was a bit annoying, but I guess it happens.
I’m not sure if this is literally true but in my experience, they are available ²⁴⁄₇.

I wasn’t thrilled with their location at 1917 18^th St. NW location. Looking at their website, I see two apartments at that address. Neither of the photo albums for those apartments look like the room where I stayed, and neither of the albums show the bay window that’s part of both of those addresses. I understand it’s possible to renovate, but it’s not possible to eliminate a major feature of the building. Having been at one of those apartments, I’m not even sure it’s possible to renovate them as depicted.
The apartments are/​were over a restaurant. The restaurant owners used the same laundry as the two apartments. This in itself wasn’t a problem, except that the only access was through the suite I rented. I don’t think anything went missing, but I would have preferred to know this in advance.
It wasn’t clear to me at the time of deposit that a stay under 90 days would incur a 14.5% hotel tax. I had the option of staying longer, and would have selected that if it had been explained from the outset. My request was also handled by three different staff, until one of the staff were finally assigned to me.
On arrival, one of two keys (kept in a container locked to a street planter?!) were available. I should have alerted the staff at the moment, but didn’t.
The stove seemed dangerous, and no response was made to my inquiry about the appliance. It was off-​balance, and the flame ‘fluttered’ frequently during use.
The finish levels were very low for the $ 2500 base monthly rent of this one bedroom. There were cobwebs, dust, detached window insulation film, cracked vinyl tiles and a filthy kitchen sink with shoddy tools. The duct for the air conditioning seemed slapdash in installation, and the drop ceiling in the bathroom (the bathroom!) showed signs of moisture (condensing from the duct above) and consequently mold. Finally, in the event of an emergency, egress from the facility was only possible down a single flight of steps to the sidewalk, that ended in a door that required a key to unlock. Unfortunately, this is against building code — you need a thumbturn on the inside of locking exterior doors on an egress path.
When it came time to exit, I asked if I could extend by another month (exceeding the 90-​day minimum for the tax), and asked for the pro-​rata, which was understandably, but flatly denied. I had alerted the sales staff that I might need extra time, and they expressed a desire to work with me on that, but made no disclosure of the property’s occupancy until I asked.
At the end of the stay, I cleaned and removed my items, and photographed the conditions. Usually hotels don’t charge extra on exit unless you really make a mess, but I was hit with $ 150 dollars extra without explanation. At worst, there were piled bath towels that should have been laundered anyway. Given the conditions when I arrived, I was outraged.
Based on my experiences and my accommodations alone, I won’t recommend Attaché in the future. Thankfully, nobody’s really asking either.

Rented an apartment for my daughter for her internship in DC. They have a great web site and responsive reps to help you. Nothing but praise for them.

I rented a property from Attaché over the summer as I was staying in DC for an internship. They were fantastic to work with– the dates of my internship changed, and they worked with us by switching the dates (and location) of our lease. The apartment we rented was advertised as having a queen bed, but had a full bed when we arrived. We pointed this out to them, and they brought a new queen bed to the unit. I’m looking at interning again in DC and will definitely rent with Attaché if I do.
It’s very convenient that their rent includes all utilities and cable and internet. I wasn’t a fan of the DC 14.5 percent hotel tax for leases under three months– but it’s not their fault. Several of their units are pet friendly (yet you have to pay a pet fee– which I don’t really agree with) and this was great for me because I brought my dogs. If you can afford it (and they are incredibly pricey, especially to someone from Houston), then go with Attaché. I’ve had a lot of experience with apartment rentals, and most try to nickel and dime you after you move out. Attaché didn’t do this, but I would still recommend taking pictures of damaged items when you move in and sending them to the broker.

I can recommend Attaché to anyone who is staying in DC temporarily, especially if their work is paying for it (since the apts are pretty pricey). I found the staff very flexible and responsive once I moved into my apartment; the company covered the costs for new furniture and repairs to make the place more livable, to the tune of +$ 500. The only reason I don’t give five stars is that although the staff was very responsive to maintenance issues (emails/​calls returned the same day, often within minutes), it often took them a long time to actually fix appliances, repaint, or purchase new items. Despite that, however, the management was super friendly and the apartment fit my needs.

A representative of Attaché Property Management wrote to us after seeing my original review here on Unilocal.His response validated Unilocal as a place that can make good results come about, and also caused me to modify my view of Attaché Property Management.
Even though we never asked for any of our money back, Attaché Property Management offered a small refund. We appreciated this gesture. More importantly, the representative wrote a very nice personal note, and said that after looking into the problems mentioned here, he could validate our concerns. He promised to overhaul their operations and offer greatly improved services to future clients. Based on this correspondence, we will consider trying Attaché the next time we have a prolonged stay in Washington DC.

After reading the reviews already posted and taking into account our experiences, I get the sense that it all depends on which representative a client deals with at Attaché Property Management. We rented a lovely apartment for two months. The building was quiet, well-​kept, and conveniently located.
Unfortunately, the management was almost absent. The people we dealt with seemed to have little experience and no interest in property management and maintenance. After our first week, we suggested that they go over the place as we had found so many obvious problems. In short, each apartment needs to have an inventory list and a standardized «welcome» packet. We have rented short-​term furnished apartments in New York, Madrid, Buenos Aires, and other cities and have never found so many details left unattended.

Based on our experience with other rental agencies, the welcoming information should be much more complete. It would be nice to receive information on garbage and recycling (the recycling as well as some other trash from former tenants is piled in the garbage area and has remained there for the two months of our residency; the pails are filled with rainwater, making a nice breeding ground for mosquitoes). It would also be nice to receive basic information about the neighborhood: CVS on M Street (between 28^th and 29^th); Trader Joe’s on 25^th Street (between M and L); etc.
We also liked the cleaning service that was recommended to them, and we had them come on a weekly basis.

Application and billing were simple and straightforward. Move in and move out were seamless. The property was extraordinarily well-​equipped (I couldn’t imagine needing anything else for the kitchen). I had trouble with the vacuum and coffee maker, submitted a request for replacements, and found brand new replacements outside the security door the very next day. I highly recommend Attaché Property for any short-​term lease.

Prompt and GREAT customer service by three different individuals who were extremely alert at my inquiries for a temporary –3 month– housing need/​request. Firstly I got an email response within 24hrs and was able to set up an appointment (for a friend of mine) to see 3 different unit options while I had not even arrived to the city. The application and credit forms and processes were painless, the lease agreement was sent to me and the contract finalized easily via fax. Very flexible and great for a business traveling person with limited time and a very eclectic schedule.
When I arrived to the 2 bedroom 1.5 bathroom house I was extremely pleased to find a very clean, well stocked home with plenty of linens, utensils, modern appliances and a graciously decorated home that did not feel like someone else’s but my own. Great location in the city in a very young and developing neighbourhood near a few very happening streets with plenty of restaurant and entertainment options and just a few minutes walk to the metro, basically exactly as advertised.
Overall I am greatly pleased to have done business with Attaché and will certainly look forward to doing future business with them shall the need/​opportunity arise.

They get two stars for a relatively painless billing process that allows me to charge my rent and get lots of frequent flyer miles. Otherwise, the information provided about the apartment on the website (including the images) was grossly different from the reality discovered when I moved in. I won’t use them again.

Thanks to a friend referral, I found Attaché to help house me during a short-​term detail with a federal agency in DC. Attaché was the most responsive, had the best apartments for my federal perdiem, and was the most helpful in my search. I settled on an apartment and when I wasn’t sure about it, Tim drove me around to see other apartments. After I sent in my apartment inventory, Brittany stocked the house the next day while I was at work and I returned home to a perfectly outfitted kitchen. Even after being out of the apartment for two months, Attaché picked up two mis-​directed pieces of mail for me and sent them back. The only issues I had were with their accountants, who were a little difficult. Even with that though, everything else was so superlative that Attaché receives 5 stars.

Unfortunately, when I needed a rental property in DC while attending a course, I didn’t use Attaché Property. I regret that daily! I have had the chance to benefit from the wonderful service now however. Last week, my friend, who is now attending the same month-​long course, was told that her property in DC had fallen through. She was faced with the prospect of commuting from Rosslyn to Walter Reed daily. Eek! I wanted to help and remembered that the Attaché Property website looked good and that I had received a good response to my enquiries.
E-​mailed last Tuesday enquiring and got a response the same day from Tim. He had a property! It was in the perfect location and was exactly what they were looking for. It was competitively priced and sounded perfect. She got in touch with him… and everything was completely sorted within a day. He was absolutely lovely. She has now arrived and is thrilled with the house which is spotlessly clean and of great quality. I’m delighted too! It was the easiest favor I ever did!
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Tim Touchette and Attaché Property Management for quality properties, competitive pricing, efficiency, friendliness… and above all, exceptional customer service!
