The following letter to the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager from June 13, 2013 sums up my review:
Dear Carlos and Marcelo,
On May 17 I came to your branch and took out a cashier’s check for the total amount within Advisory Neighborhood Commission 1A’s ACCT # xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx in order to close it after a long, horrendous experience with your bank that left me no choice but to leave and move to another bank. I was told on that day by Marcelo to my face– after he put down his «principles of real estate» test prep book — that it was not possible to close the account after making a withdrawal without «screwing up the system» but that he would make a note to close the account the following day. I made the mistake of trusting him.
Now, a month later, I receive a statement from your bank dated May 29 (attached) saying the account is still open and now overdrawn. I would like to say emphatically that absolutely zero of the now more than a dozen+ unfortunate episodes I have had with your bank branch have gone as they should. I have never, ever seen such a lack of professionalism or reliability from any corporation small or large in my professional life, never mind one that is supposed to manage other people’s money! I am so appalled by the interactions that I have had that I intend to file a complaint with:
1) your vice president Bernita Bailey as well as
2) Commissioner White, Head of the DC Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking as well as
3) the District of Columbia Government Bank Liason, Mia Newman’s office
4) Council Member Vincent Orange, Chair of the Committee on Business, Consumer and Regulatory Affairs
5) Your corporate banking representative via Ms. Benita Ford
How your branch stays in business I don’t know. But everyone in the world needs to know how poor your customer service is and I intend to write reviews on Unilocal, ANGIE’S LIST, FOURSQUARE and every other social media outlet I can get my hands on to warn others about my experience. Hard earned tax payer dollars must never be entrusted to your institution again.
