A solid 4 stars for the brunch we had here this weekend. Started with a Bloody Mary which was quite tasty and spicy(even enjoyed the salted olives on the stick). We shared the beignets and the griddle cakes which were both very good, warm and satisfied our sweet tooths. I had the breakfast Sammie for my main meal and could barely finish half of it after having the starters… he sandwich was so big! The latkes were a little salty but the aioli was delicious. The sandwich was nice and juicy although could’ve had a little more flavor and perhaps not as soggy bread. The omelet looked good and came with salad so it was definitely a healthier choice. Good review from my friend of the corned beef hash as well. Our waiter was good and corrected one wrong thing very quickly. The tables are a tight squeeze though so be prepared to be locked in once you sit down. Would definitely come back to try dinner and cocktails some time.

I got a bloody mary, coffee, and the shrimp & grits. All were fantastic. The only downsides in my mind were the prices and the portion sizes. The portion size was definitely enough to be filling, but if you’re looking for a huge diner-type brunch to cure your hangover, this is not the right place for you. I also ended up spending about $ 50(including tip) which was a bit painful for me to spend on brunch, but I did have alcohol and the restaurant was definitely nicer than your typical brunch spot.

Had I not come for brunch and not had an overbearing waiter, I might have enjoyed my experience more. There are only 4 – 6 brunch entrée options on the menu in addition to some salads and desserts. I’m rarely in the position where I can’t find anything appearing on the menu, but this was one — I opted for the beet salad, which was delicious but small. The mimosas are good, and the $ 18 bottomless mimosas deal is worthwhile considering 1 glass costs $ 10. I wouldn’t mind coming back here for dinner, since the menu looks much more appealing and has more variety.

My boyfriend and I went here last night for dinner and had a great time. There were no walk in seating available for two so we sat at the bar and I am glad we did. Our bartender Nate was fantastic and the drinks we had were so impressively made. From the hostess to the wait staff, everyone was wonderful. For dinner we had the B Burgers(all the way of course) and started out with Bone Marrow for an appetizer. All was absolutely fantastic! The ambience was great. It was casual yet intimate as the place had dim lighting and music low enough that you could have a conversation. I would certainly reccomend! I can’t wait to go back and try brunch.

Me and my friends have an annual tradition where we engage in a in Secret Santa brunch a few weeks after the holidays. This year, we chose to come to Beuchert’s. The ambiance is very friendly, but it does get crowded. The restaurant has a very narrow layout, so my friend whose seat was jutted out in the aisle was bumped around a few times. Traffic jams happened behind her while the server delivered dishes. Our table was not in the best location, and it was also very wobbly. I ended up stuffing my napkin underneath one of the legs to stabilize it so that my other friend didn’t have to constantly worry about keeping her foot planted on her side. I asked for another napkin while the server stared at me, but I never got one. I liked my dish(corned beef hash) and I think the others in my party also enjoyed their dishes as well. However, my friend ordered the beets salad, which isn’t considered a «full brunch meal» as the server kept saying and consistently asked her if it was enough. She had to reiterate and seemingly defend herself that she wasn’t very hungry to appease him. Back off, and let us eat however little or much as we’d like, thanks.

I’m revising my previous review as if you can get into the back patio area, it is totally delightful! And, they have made quite the upgrades to the menu and everything we had was delicious! I will definitely be returning!

I’ve been here three times in the past four months, twice for full course dinner. In addition to friendly, timely and knowledgeable servers the food and drink is spectacular. I’ve had the burger, pork, chicken and steak here and all were absolutely delicious. But my favorite might be the bone marrow plate. I think they label it as a «snack» but you get two or three massive marrow bones and a big pile of grilled bread to mop it up with. It. Is. Amazing. The quality of the food, drink and experience are well worth the price. It’s a tight fit at the bar, but once you squeeze past the dining area has enough room to be seated comfortably and you’ll forget about everything except what’s in your mouth once the food arrives.

Having lived in the general area for almost 4 years now I finally decided to try some new places for brunch finally which brought me to Beuchert’s last Saturday. The service here is definitely great, the ambiance is laid back and rustic, and the food is good. I highly recommend the Sammie but be sure to bring your appetite as this sandwich is huge. I’m a huge fan of traditional mimosa’s but this establishment makes them different. I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of them but they were ok. I’d definitely return to try some of their other brunch selections.

Happy hour: $ 5 sparkling elderberry mead and $ 5 punch made with scotch, grapefruit juice, bitters +?(whatever it was = tart decadence). Friendly, skilled bartender and accommodating hostess — they made room for us to squeeze in for happy hour(thank you!). Loved the ambiance and history of the saloon. Wish they had happy hour food specials, but the drinks(and the promise of the backyard patio) will have me coming back!

4.5 Stars A Capitol Hill gem. Beuchert’s Saloon is quiet and cute. Very small, but it allows for the best service you’ll receive. The menu offers multiple delicious dishes and I would recommend an array of appetizers: Anson Mills gold rice, roasted bone marrow, and chopped butter lettuce salad. I had never had Anson Mills gold rice up to this point, so I was in a food orgasm upon first bite: the smoothest risotto with an array of toppings that work extremely well together. The toppings included cippolini onions, roasted tomatoes, roasted corn, and chanterelle mushrooms. I would order this dish every time I visit BS if that says anything. The roasted bone marrow is standard, but delicious. No different than most places, it is accompanied by a parsley salad. In addition, it comes with pickled pistachios, which I thought were interesting. The ratio of marrow to crostini was off as I wished I had more vehicles for the marrow. Lastly, the chopped butter lettuce salad is similar to a cobb salad, but without the blue cheese. It came with blue crab, which was a luxurious touch — very delicious! My dining partner and I shared an entrée as we were quite full from the three starters. We opted for the shrimp roll, which came with(totally appropriate) Old Bay chips. The bread was nicely buttered and toasted, but the shrimp salad was not remarkable. I ordered a bourbon and ginger here and received it in deconstructed form: one glass of ginger ale without ice and a glass of neat Knob Creek bourbon. Kind of funny. They quickly remedied the situation and gave me ice, so all was well. The atmosphere here is dark and romantic — I would definitely recommend it for anyone seeking a cute date spot with impeccable service.

This review is only for happy hour. Despite claims that they open at 5:30, they are open at 4 for hh, but you can’t order off the regular menu for food until 5:30. All drafts are $ 2 off, so $ 5. Not a bad deal at all, especially since they have a nice array of options. We had a coffee stout that was on point. While the hh food menu is not extensive, it’s not bad either. We shared a shrimp and lobster sandwich, which comes with a side of crab chips. The chips are surprisingly light, airy, amd delicious. Great burnt flavor. And of course covered in old bay. The bun on the sandwich was soft and warm, I love that. Bonus points for really great atmosphere. Dim lighting, old school décor, and two giant bison heads staring you down. Real cool. It’s a very narrow space in front, which opens up to a small dining area in back with an open kitchen. You don’t even notice how small it is, they did a great job maximizing the space. But the point is it’s small, come early or make that reservation! Extra bonus points because the bartender was very efficient, kind, and really knowledgeable. They seem to specialize in crafty cocktails, I’ll have to come back to try one.

This place is marvelous, you can feel the rich history as soon as you enter. I love knowing the purpose, and the history of a restaurant establishment. Luckily we were able to read on the menu about how the restaurant started in the late 1800s in the SAME location. They also said rumor has it that Beuchert’s would operate as a speakeasy. I love that this place has a rich history, and the current owners are proud to share their story. I like this place for brunch, or for a nice dinner. They have a farm to table concept, which is they do in a less than trendy way– which I appreciate. What I like about the menu is that if you aren’t very hungry there are many options for you. They have charcuterie boards, cheese boards, vegetables that you can order individually and even a snack section that includes bone marrow! Of course they offer entrees as well, which are called«whole meals”– which yes they definitely are! I tried the peacemaker which is a shrimp and crab sandwich and I was fully satisfied. The only issue I had was that even though the restaurant wasn’t full they asked if we could sit at the«chefs table» on one occasion which is the same thing as bar seating, without the actual bar in front of us. They asked because we were only 2 people, and they only had 4 tops left. Wasn’t the biggest issue, just a tad uncomfortable. Another tip that I have is that they tend to have great drink specials. I love stopping in on a Monday for a great $ 5 Old Fashioned!

Fabulous cocktails, fabulous food, great ambiance perfect for a romantic date, a small group, or just drinks, so really, not much you could not like here. They had me with the Anson Mills Gold Rice with English peas, porcinis, and other deliciousness I can’t quite name at the moment because the deliciousness of it seems to have eclipsed my ability to recall the ingredients. The roasted bone marrow with pistachios and pickled mustard seed was tasty, but not for me the star. Of all the cocktails, the Beuchart’s 75 is my favorite. With gin, lemon, rosemary syrup, and Charm City Elderberry Mead, it’s delicious and balanced and unique.

There are a ton of places to have brunch around eastern market and this is probably my favorite, though it isn’t without its flaws. We’ll get the bad things out of the way first. They have a really nice outdoor patio but not a lot of two tops. It was empty when we came but they wouldn’t seat us at a 4 top and all of the two tops were in the blazing sun, so we ended up having to go inside. Annoying and unnecessary, but not a huge deal. Service was a little bit slow. The veggie omelet needed some carbs or something more filling. It was a small portion of food and would have left me hungry if I’d ordered it. They don’t have any inexpensive beer on their list so a bit pricy for a night of drinking. The good: The waitress was very nice about letting me sub out items from the Beuchert’s breakfast platter. The ambiance is really cute. The building is just beautiful and everything is nice, from the wall paper to the lighting fixtures to the exposed bricks, it all fits nicely. The waitress was really friendly and good once she got to us. The food was excellent and had all of the right little touches. We could walk in without a huge wait. I’m not a huge brunch person, but when someone wants to have brunch in my neighborhood this is my new favorite place.

On a recent trip to DC for a wedding, we dined at Beuchert’s Saloon as part of the co-ed bachelor party festivities. The table started off with cocktails and some small plates of roasted veggies. I had the Dewdropper, which was expertly crafted and refreshing. For my first course, I began with the grilled ramps. I cannot even put into words how much I loved this dish. It was very different from anything I had ever had. The ramps and prosciutto with the brown butter aioli were an amazingly rich combination. I absolutely loved this dish! For my main, I went with the swordfish that was served with potatoes, asparagus, and morels. This dish was also outstanding! I ended my meal with of few bites of the very rich and decadent candy bar, and a bite of two of the Jonny and the Wolnuts, also very good. Beuchert’s is a favorite of the bride and groom, so we headed back here a few days later to keep the party going. We were a huge group, and there was a lot of confusion about how to best proceed, but one of the guests and the bartenders were able to work out serving a few different cocktails in very large punchbowls. Classiest wedding after party ever! On our two visits, the staff was very accommodating of our large party, whether our visit was planned or unannounced. They offer great cocktails and delicious meals!

Somehow managed to be both incredibly delicious and extrodinarily underwhelming. Great dishes. Quite sizable for the price and quality! The bone marrow took way more effort than I would have liked. Omg insanely amazing. Absolutely dripping in beautiful meat fat. But the salt side was too close to the bone and I accidentally got a chunk of meat in it. Sad. Carrots were drowning in sauce. Delicious sauce! But very thick and pimento cheesy and just a bit much for what I thought would be a healthy dish. … I can’t remember the other veg dish I had so that says enough… The strawberry cocktail I got was so amazing that I finished it lickity split. Then just water because THIRTEENDOLLARS?! Ugh. Dc prices.

I was so eager to try Beuchert’s because of all the hype it got as an amazing brunch spot. I saw it featured on a few articles I came across, so I made a point to try it out. I even walked in one day for brunch and they said they were totally pack, and recommended that I make a reservation a week in advance. So…I went on Unilocal, and made a reservations 2 days in advance… for MOTHERSDAY! =P I’m guessing they don’t fill up their restaurant because they don’t want to be overwhelmed, because on Mother’s Day, they didn’t seem that busy. Note: they are not on OpenTable. The website says to call the restaurant to make a reservation, but when you do, they are just using the Unilocal app. When I called on a Wednesday, they said they were totally booked on Sunday. On Friday, I signed on to Unilocal and easily made a reservation, and they honored it on Sunday! So make your reservation on Unilocal! On to the food. I ordered the tuna and beet poke as a starter. That was pretty good. I enjoyed it. For main entrees, I ordered the shrimp and grits and my friend ordered the breakfast sammie. Both of us thought our dishes were ok. They were not amazing. We’ve both had better tasting shrimp and grits and breakfast sandwiches. I don’t think Beuchert’s lives up to the hype; but if you want quality bottomless mimosas, this is the place to go. Also, definitely make a reservation on Unilocal because this place is small.

Gist If you are looking for a bar with Saloon flare, come to Beuchert’s! Great place to grab drinks or dine. When the weather is nice, be sure to sit in the outside back area. Limited space Heads up, the bar area is a bit compact so if you have a large(7+) group, this venue is not ideal. Dish about the Dishes The food is tasty. The meat on the burger is juicy and thick. Quick note, the burger comes with a small side of salad. Fries must be ordered separately.

I have been To Beuchert’s several times and have really enjoyed it. The food is prepared meticulously, as are the drinks. I love the old soda fountain for seltzer water. This is one of my favorite DC restaurants, because it’s affordable, it’s really nice, and it’s laid back yet formal(sort of business casual). The owner is always there behind the bar. We’ve tried the burgers, poboys, salads, and a few appetizers and I have of course spied on other people’s meals. I just love it all! The drinks are also spectacular and really have unique flavors. I don’t see how you can go wrong here. The only negative comment I have is that everything in the restaurant that is above 7 feet is dusty. They really need to dust! I hope the owner sees this and responds by dusting so I can remove my negative comment.
