**SO SAD TO REPORT THAT THIS TRUCK HAS CLOSED :(
this place is amazing. i can’t believe such good food came from a food truck!
on friday the truck was at farragut and after looking at the menu and reviews i had to go. my coworker and i both got the house-​made cured salmon sandwich — a risk for me because i don’t really like salmon this way. one word– DELICIOUS. the salmon was great, not too fishy, and the goat cheese spread, asparagus, capers and hints if broccoli were just as good. also a small side salad.
i don’t think this selection is normally on the menu, but everything else looks amazing (steak. yes.) and i recommend this truck to everyone. also i was full for hours and my meal was $ 12!

Since my first visit this has become my favorite food truck!!! I love the steak frites — which comes with insane truffle fries — and they always have interesting specials. Most recently I had spare ribs on an Asian rice-​noodle salad — amazing! I haven’t had anything that I haven’t loved, and this truck is absolutely worth the slightly longer wait and slightly higher prices than other trucks — not only is the food fantastic, but the portions are large. Extra props for their being on the rotation for Food Truck Fridays in Takoma!

Amazing! This was like a restaurant on wheels– the quality of the ingredients, the care in preparation, the great flavors, and the presentation were all on par with a sit down establishment’s lunch (like Vidalia or Ris). I got the crab cakes, and they were so good– full of lump crabmeat with a sweet slaw and an arugula and lentil salad. I mixed the bitter arugula with the sweet cabbage slaw, and it was a perfect contrast. Although the prices are higher than other trucks ($ 13-​$ 16), its well worth it. A tip of the hat to you, Chef!

I’ve been wanting to try this truck food. I love Steak and I love Fries. I haven’t had the chance to try it until today. I was on my way to a Dr.‘s appointment when I noticed the truck, I had to stop and it was the best decision I have ever made. Steak and frites to die for! I love the quick and easy service. Fries and steak cooked to perfection. I started to love truck food. This is totally worth the money

BEST FOOD TRUCK IN DC.
If you want to have a gourmet meal at a non-​gourmet meal price, this is your best bet. Had the pork belly tacos today. Normally, I’m not a big fan of pork belly because it tends to be all fat an no meat. This was the opposite. You can really tell the difference between a good restaurant and a bad one by the qualify of the meat. This meat was top quality.
The presentation was good, too. Opened up my to-​go box to find the meal presented in the same way you’d find it at a fancy restaurant.
But the overall taste was my favorite part of the experience. Great flavor combinations, combined with super fresh ingredients. Maybe the best taco I’ve ever tasted.
My co-​workers say that the steak frites are amazing as well, and I’ll try that one next time.
When the food trucks started, it was amazing. Great food without the expense of the overhead caused by a physical restaurant. But too many of them aren’t good. Now you have to know where to go, and this one is the real deal. Don’t hesitate.
DO IT!

Whenever I tell any of my friends from back in the Midwest about food trucks here in DC, there is a slight scoff and a mention of «street meat». Are you kidding me? There is nothing «street meat» about DC food trucks, and Chef Driven takes the cake. I have had the steak and truffle fries a few times, and I am always watching the food truck tracker stalking this bad boy down like a dog to a postal worker. The guys who work this truck are so personable, and the food is superb. If you see this truck just get in line. Trust me.

Pork tacos are amazing

It was lunchtime, and there were about 10 trucks, however Chef Driven was the only one with a greeter. Normally this technique is reserved for the likes of Walmart, and it can be gimmicky, however he was sincere and friendly. Chef Driven is not your standard food truck, their menu is more impressive than some of DC’s most popular restaurants. I had the steak with chimichurri, truffle frites, chipotle aioloi, and a cucumber salad. My steak came cooked a beautifully medium rare, the herbaceous chimi that accompanied it was delicious. The truffled frites on their own were amazing, and the aioli wasnt necessary, but i quite enjoyed it. The salad wasn’t advertised on the menu board, and they went above and beyond to add a component that lightened up the dish.
Overall my whole experience at Chef Driven from start to finish was perfect, and i look forward to my next visit.

Great food served up by a trio of very friendly guys. I was intrigued by the pork belly sliders (mmm, pork fat… drool…), but I was hesitant at first because of the price. At almost $ 10 for two sliders, those babies better blow me away. Well, I was blown clear into space. I scarfed down those sliders so fast, I’m surprised I remembered to breathe.
If you see this truck around, it’s definitely worth a stop!

I’m fortunate enough to work between two food truck nexuses, Metro Center and Franklin Square/​Park, and as such, have had the pleasure of trying out A LOT of different trucks. Chef Driven DC, imho, is by far the best. In fact, the other day I trekked to Chinatown during my lunch hour just because I had a craving for their food.
The menu changes regularly, yet the food is consistently good. I’ve gotten their staple, the steak frites with fries multiples times — fantastic — as well as the Thai short ribs and pork belly sliders. Their stuff is always very flavorful and you can tell they use fresh ingredients.
Obviously, their prices can be a little high — the steak frites is $ 14 — but it’s high-​end stuff. Sure, you can get steak at Golden Corral for cheaper, but it’s not be nearly as good.

I’ve only been to this truck once, but I have to say that the butternut squash, baby arugula, goat cheese, candied walnut and raisin (no… cherries? yummm) salad is delicious! It was supposed to have pancetta but I asked for it without to make it vegetarian — and it is simply a scrumptious combination of flavors! I would definitely get it again.
I have read a bunch of reviews citing price as a downfall… I have to say that it IS comparable in price to the other food trucks in the area — the better ones anyway. And for the types of ingredients and flavors you get, it really is more like a salad you’d get in a sit down restaurant — worth the price (to me … but I’m picky).
Also as a note, I appreciated the care that was given in creating my salad as I stood there to wait. It wasn’t pre-​made… They added the ingredients carefully and mixed it as I waited — even asking if the goat cheese was ok since I asked for no pancetta.
Anyway — I have no idea about the other dishes they serve here, though they looked good when I saw them prepare those … but this one is so yummy that I couldn’t even wait to write the review. There you have it! Two thumbs up!

Still a five star food truck experience. Hell, a five star food experience for the most part.

I have been back here about a half dozen times since my initial review and figured I would let you all know that it is still THAT good.
A few more things I have tried that keep me coming back…
I finally did give into their steak and truffle frites, which is a regular menu item, and I wanted to cry because it was so good. AND they ask you how you want it cooked and it actually comes out cooked that way. And the fries? Oh God, don’t get me going. They are so very good. The fries are reason alone to both try this truck and thank your lucky duckies that you are alive and have taste buds. Seriously. Only rival would be the Tapas truck and their Garlic fries but if you are going to eat fries like this, they should not be called fries. They should be called «Thin potato slices loved into existence by an indulgent parent.» Really. That good.
A recent menu offering that blew me away was the duck quesadilla. And I don’t even really like duck but if it were prepared this way on a regular basis, I would take to putting on those stupid rubber wading pants and shooting my own… and I hate guns and love ducks.
Very, very good.
Only thing I didn’t really love recently was the chipotle pork braised tacos. But I do not really like pork (outside of bacon) and I need to stop trying to test this theory out. They were fine and two co-​workers nearly fell into rapture over them so it is clearly me.
Only other minor complaint is that ordering is completely chaotic. There are no numbers or tickets assinged and so you just kind of have to pay attention and guess where you might be in line and when your order is up. This works in a professional kitchen when an order is fired but not so well in a food truck.
Especially when you’re dishing some serious food crack out of your truck and we’re all just trying to be polite and not tackle each other for the most recent offering you are placing outside of your window.
We are in DC and we are generally orderly folk but, please, if we don’t get some sort of system down we will eventually riot to establish our pecking order in the food truck line ;)
Anyway, all that aside, this is still the best food truck in DC. And, yes, it is likely still the most pricey but it is SO worth it.

We had a less than stellar experience with Chef Driven, but I can chalk part of it up to us heading out to lunch a little late (about 12:45pm).
My co-​worker and I saw the chipotle braised pork tacos on their menu and we both started drooling. We lucked out (or so we thought) when about a minute after my co-​worker ordered her tacos, the cooks inside the truck announced that they were out of tacos.
The order-​taker was very friendly, chatting up the customers while we waited. It was necessary. Some people had been waiting a while and were getting visibly antsy about just how long their food was taking. I received my tacos and continued to wait with my co-​worker. The truck was starting to run out of more items and now people who had already ordered were having to get different menu items.
My co-​worker asked if she would still be able to get her tacos. The order-​taker re-​assured her that she would be getting tacos too. But he was wrong. They were out. The chef inside the truck seemed annoyed that the order-​taker for taking that last order of tacos, but he was countered with the fact that no one was told they were out of tacos until AFTER the order was placed.
In the end, a ham panini was all that was left to give to my co-​worker. To top it off, there was no ham on it.
After everything was said and done, it had taken almost an hour for us to walk the 3 blocks each way, order and wait for our food. Way too long for a food truck experience.
We liked the food, but I’m not sure we’ll go back. If we do, it’ll have to be an early lunch.

Some items might be a little overpriced for a truck but this really is restaurant quality food. The shrimp and pork spring rolls were filling and as good as anything you’ll get anywhere in DC. The cucumber and tomato side salad is impressive and comes with lots of cilantro, which I like but others may not. It seems the amount of food in your meal may vary widely depending on what you order so keep that in mind.
They change the menu frequently but if you see something that appeals to you be sure and check this truck out.

I went to this food truck for lunch when it was at L’Enfant Plaza. I got the baby back ribs with a noodle salad as a side, and it was delish! The ribs fell off the bone and was so tender and delicious. The noodle salad was ok; I wish it had a bit more flavor. I’ll definitely try this food truck again in the future.

They had a strip steak and truffle fries on the meal and of course i had to order it. I like that the steak was cooked to my preference and the fries were heaven. I even like the side salad it came with. At first I thought it was pricey but you get a lot of food almost too much for me for lunch.

I really want to give this truck more stars because the food is excellent — fresh, high-​quality ingredients and creative flavors. But I feel that it’s overpriced for a food truck.
I’ve been twice. The first time I got a watermelon goat cheese salad with pepitas. The salad was $ 9 I believe. I asked if this was an entrée salad and was told yes. The salad was good — ripe watermelon, a nice amount of goat cheese — but it was small. Not a side salad exactly, but definitely not an entrée salad. I’m not a big eater, but I definitely needed at least a half a sandwich with this meal to feel full.
The second time (today) I got lemongrass shrimp tacos. $ 12. Surely, for $ 12 I was going to get more food. Not so much. When I got back to my desk I opened the box to see 2 tacos. Once again, the tacos were good (not really out of this world, but good) — the shrimp was well flavored, the tacos came with plenty of veggies and the tortillas were fresh. But 2 regular-​size tacos for $ 12? Tacos at Oyamel are $ 5/​taco tops. Tacos at El Centro are $ 3−4/taco. Tacos at District Taco (which are actually better than the ones from Chef Driven) are $ 2.50/taco.
I like the food from this truck, but if I have to pay $ 20 to be full at lunch, I feel like I should be sitting in a restaurant.

I tried the chilled corn bisque today for the first time and the reviewer below me articulates it better but it is seriously delicious. It tastes so fresh and light with a little body from the coconut milk — perfect for a summer lunch. I asked to add a side of grilled shrimp from their thai entrée so I could have some protein ($ 5 extra) but considering the size of the soup and the heftiness of the goat cheese on the crostini, not sure it was even necessary.
Yes, it is a little pricey for a food truck but don’t we all think food truck prices are a bit on a high side? In this case, however, it’s well worth it.

I had the eggplant caponata w/​goat cheese & arugula panini on herbed foccacia bread. I loved it. I love eggplant and the caponata was nicely flavored and just the right amount of tender versus mushy.
The major entrée for the day was steak w/​frites, but I didn’t want something that heavy. Will definitely be back to dine here again.
Also, as some of the other reviewers noted, the gentlemen in the truck and the one outside taking orders are very friendly and personable, which makes the overall experience that much better.

@#$#%~! It was terrible to be so disappointed in the middle of a difficult day at work. I would have gotten something from the Fojol truck, particularly as they’re being so unfairly criticized, but I love the fried oyster tacos that I had from Chef Driven the other day so much that I ordered both the friend calamari and the avocado soup. The calamari was greasy, and the avocado was hardly noticeable in the soup. I can understand the fryer not coming back up to temperature making for oily fried food, but a soup in which the eponymous flavor is practically absent is inexcusable. I’ll be back, but I’m not in such a big hurry now, and that saddens me a little.
