Chien de Luxe

I live in the neighborhood and this is a great place. Recently, their hours changed to weekend only so make sure you come by then. As others have said, they have an eclectic offering of things both for pets (dogs and cats mostly) and people. On my most recent trip last weekend, I bought a 1935 illustrated nursery rhyme book about Kittens and Mittens, some dehydrated dog food that I will mix with water and add to Schatzie’s usual dry food, a small cat toy for my sister’s cat, and a few treats. Say hi to Cooper (the dog) when you’re there, if he is too! Also, you get tokens for every $ 50 you spend so make sure to have those with you.

The proprietor clearly loves animals and their owners, and has curated the store in an almost museum giftshop fashion — i.e., the coolest stuff you can imagine for pet and pet’s human. Pet beds are top of the line; beautifully crafted leashes and collars; even the right hook from which to hang them. Excellent place for gifts.

Not your usual pet store-​this place is fun and interesting. All sorts of unique gifts for cats and dogs and the people that love them. Karen the manager is extremely helpful. The doggy water fountain out front is a work of art. Worth the trip to explore.

Chien de Luxe is such a cool shop, it was worth the looong wait for it to open. It’s in a great spot right next to the Palisades Vet. An impressive array of practical and fun pet-​related items greets you — gorgeous beaded dog collars from Africa, vintage books and collectibles, clothing, leashes and grooming tools … I’ve copied the list from their website below. Karen, the manager, is so nice and helpful, and she really knows pets as a former vet tech. She also has birds, one of whom sometimes is in residence on a perch by the cash register. If you are a pet owner, an animal lover, or know someone who is, stop by Chien de Luxe. It makes shopping fun!
