I am starting grad school in the Fall, so decided to check out Crossroads for a new wardrobe at a discount. I was SO impressed. They have designer clothes like Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, etc.
I bought a dress with the a $ 85 dollar original price tag still on it for $ 25. All in all, I walked out with 3 dresses, a blouse, and a belt for under $ 100.
I will be back several times to rejuvenate my wardrobe with stylish pieces before I go off to grad school in a few months! Much recommended.

Place offers good deals in fashion. Buy back is cheap like my coach wallet $ 5 I got. You don’t get much for clothes but definitely worth checking out.

I had a good selling experience here. Enter the store and add your name to the waitlist on the ipad and they will either call/​text you when they can examine your merchandise. I think you get 50% of what they price the merchandise if you take the store credit option OR 30% of what they price the merchandise if you opt for cash.
I did a thorough closet cleanse and wanted to sell items that no longer brought me joy after reading about the KonMari method. They bought several pieces of mine that were in new condition and up to «current trends.» They were professional, prompt and treated your clothes with respect, and folded it up neatly after examination. They do not buy business clothes. I wished they gave you an itemized receipt of what they bought because I couldn’t remember what they took and giving me for all the merchandise. They just tell you a total dollar amount at the end. I had to ask a few times how much they were going to sell each item when sometimes they took the items without telling me the price.
As for buying, I feel like if I looked thoroughly enough, I can find good buys in my size on a lucky day. I would look for higher end designers rather than H&M, Forever 21, etc which I thought were priced quite high considering you could definitely score a better good deals at the actual stores during clearance.

I’ve been here several times and walked away with some finds. Good selection (sweaters, dresses) but staff is super slow moving for trade/​sell and checkout. I know this is DC and most of us are type A, and on-​the-​go, but c’mon it’s rude to be moving as a snail’s pace! I’ve got a brunch reservation to make ;)
Bottom line: go with ample time to shop.

I came here to sell clothes after waiting in line for 30 minutes at Buffalo Exchange only to have Molly Ringwald from Sixteen Candles reject EVERYTHING I brought to her. Apparently faux fur is in right now and I didn’t have enough. Thanks, millennials. Crossroads is larger and brighter than Buffalo, with more contemporary clothes. It’s probably not the vintage crowd’s first choice, but for us yuppies it’s perfect. I didn’t have to wait in line and sold half of what I brought to the nice lady behind the counter. They give 35% cash or 50% store credit.

Where do I begin with my experience as a seller!
I actually think this is great store… Good selection… Fantastic prices. I normally never walk out without buying something!
So they have updated their check in process for buyers… It’s now done via iPad and the part I like most about it… It gives you an estimation of how long it will take and you have the option of them calling you on your phone or calling out your name in the store… and you can even look at the list of names to determine where you are in deference to others waiting…
Let me preface my review by saying… We all have to start from beginning and then we learn… So apparently I went to a buyer who was BRAND new… It was a young male… And this was over the weekend.
He was clearly unsure of what he should and should not accept… My experience took WAY much longer than it should… For instance… He looked through each item in DETAIL… Checked to ensure their were no imperfections which I respect and appreciate being on the buyer side… He passed on basically about 75% of the items and even on items he considered passing on… He first would turn to the manager which was also buying items from another customer (she was helping to make the process go faster because of the number of people waiting to sell) … And he would say… «I’m going to pass on this because of the style»… She would say, no I would take that. so I say all this to say… The manager was the one who actually chose the items from my selection… Even though she wasn’t going through my stuff… I’m positive that more of my items would have been accepted but again… From his point of view… He didn’t think they were what they were looking for… just goes to show… What is accepted is truly based on WHO does the buying… I understand that this particular employee will get better over time… But the buying process took WAY much longer than it should…
I will be going back… And I may even take some of the items that were turned down and hope that I don’t have this same person going through my items. I even heard other sellers who were waiting behind me saying they hope they don’t get him… They preferred to go to the female manager that was also buying!!!

BUYER: Crossroads is one of the few places in DC you can go and feel like a Kuwaiti prince — you’re dollar goes far, especially on the reduced priced clothing ($ 7 for a blouse? It’s practically free). They have a great selection of clothing for any occasion, from passable cubical wear to «girl, I think I can see your uterus» outfits.
SELLER: If your closet doesn’t have multiple outfits for either Coachella or Urban Beach Week, don’t bother trying to sell it here. Cool kids only.

I bought some dress from here. I like there every items. Their staff are very knowledgable and provide the best service that i have ever had.

One of the greatest places to go «thrifting»! Friendly staff and huge selection of everything. Prices are reasonable and they even have some pretty classy brands! I grabbed a Brooks Brothers shirt for about $ 16.

I have multiple experiences with this location both as a shopper an as a seller.
Bottom line for selling: it all depends on who is buying that day and whether that person thinks your clothes fit the bill. I had some clothes rejected only for them to be accepted the next season. Sometimes they passed on designer items and took all of the fast fashion ones, sometimes bringing high-​end clothes did the trick, and all of H&M ended up in the donation bin. Their selection process is very arbitrary, but if your clothes are trendy, there is a high chance they will buy at least something. Please remember — this is not a high-​end consignment shop! Think of it as more of a way to clean your closet while making some cash in the process. It’s also geared towards young people, so don’t be surprised if they show no love for your Armani suits (what are you doing here with your Armani suits?! go to Secondi).
Tips for a savvy shopper: there are lots of good finds here, but you have to DIG. Prepare to spend 30 – 40 minutes in the store. Always check items for holes and stains — they miss quite a few. I found a great London Fog trench for $ 10 here and brand-​new Toms (guilty as charged for wearing Toms…) for $ 15. I saw some clearly fake purses on sale here (like ‘honey, nobody in their right mind thinks this is Louis Vuitton’ fake), but most of the stuff is legit as far as I can tell. 90% of what’s on sale is under $ 30. Good selection of footwear if you’re not opposed to the idea of wearing used shoes and have a common size. Overall, a solid place for bargain shopping if you know what you’re looking for.

I really like Crossroads Trading, and I’m glad they opened a shop in DC. I’ve scored some great stuff at Crossroads in Portland, Seattle and DC. The racks aren’t so crowded that you have to spend a lot of time to find something great (like at Current or Goodwill). They seem to do a good job buying cool pieces from sellers, even if they do seem to have a lot of lower quality items from Forever 21 and H&M. They do have some designer items, that tend to be priced higher than other brands, but they do have problems spotting fake designer items, which I’ve also found on their racks. When someone slaps a DVF label into an H&M dress (with holes in it!), the buyers should be able to spot it from across the room. I also see a surprising number of stained and torn clothing on their racks, which the buyers don’t seem to catch.
With all of that said, Crossroads is still one of my favorite places to shop. The real steals at Crossroads come when you find things that have been on the rack for awhile and are marked HALF OFF with a little brown sticker. I’ve taken to ONLY buying things that are marked «Half Off,» unless I find something truly great. I have bought some of my favorite things at full price, though, and they were still total steals. I bought a really great dress that was new, with tags, for less than $ 20, and a vintage Coach purse for less than $ 25.
My biggest gripe is with the way they display their shoes. There is no organization. The shoes are just put on shelves above the racks of clothes, and some of those shelves are too high for shorties like me to even see what’s available. They aren’t organized by size or color or even type. Shopping for shoes here is awful, and they seem to treat the shoes as an afterthought, unless they are designer shoes, which are kept behind the counter or in a locked case. This place could use a space dedicated to shoes.
I’ve only sold things here once, and thought they refused to buy things from me that they’ve bought from other people and that I’ve actually seen on their racks because I’m not a teenager or college student. I was told that they don’t buy business attire when I was selling a black pencil skirt (a classic), some pants and a couple of cocktail dresses. I’ve seen similar items on their racks, so I sort of felt like they were just telling me that I’m old. They did buy all of my accessories, but none of the clothes. It was strange. I’d rather swap my clothes or donate them to Goodwill than try to sell here again.

I love a great bargain, and this place is full of them. They have affordable brands like Zara, Ann Taylor, and Banana Republic at fair prices, while their more high end brands are a bit more all over the place (I would say $ 20-​$ 50, along with a beautiful Marchesa dress for $ 65 which unfortunately wasn’t my size), but still all great deals. Their clothing is stylish, and it’s hard to walk out empty handed. I also love that they sell men’s clothing (nice men’s clothing at that, I once bought my boyfriend a Giorgio Armani shirt for $ 15.)
I’m deducting a star because I often see clothing with defects on the racks, which is expected at any second hand store, but I do feel like it happens pretty frequently here. They also hang up some of their pieces near the ceiling, and asking for them to be brought down is a bit awkward.
I have never sold here, but on weekends, there always seems to be a good amount of people waiting to sell, but it seems like the staff moves quickly when sorting through the clothes.

Now that I’ve sold here multiple times and at least 30% of my wardrobe is from this store (wearing a cute Ann Taylor top I got for $ 9.50 with store credit there right now!), I feel that I can finally review this place.
I really love this place and I think it gets a bad rap from some reviewers for no reason. It is a second-​hand store so you have to dig a bit to find what you want, but for second hand I think they do a great job and price things well, especially for the DC area. I always find at least something. If you want cheaper clothes I don’t really know what you want. I guess you could go to Goodwill?
Also, I’ve had pretty good luck selling here. Like any resale shop they will probably reject at least half of what you bring in (that’s the nature of the game), but they always take a few items and I get some decent store credit. I have much less luck selling at Buffalo Exchange and Current Boutique.
As far as the person who mentioned Current Boutique: If you’re looking for really high end stuff, you probably shouldn’t be shopping at Crossroads or Buffalo Exchange. You can find cute stuff from good brands like Zara and Ann Taylor if you dig, but if you’re looking for super high quality top notch brands, just go to the mall.
I recommend giving this place a chance. :)

I write this review just as a consignor, not a shopper. I had some items that another consignment shop passed on so I figured I’d try this store on my way home.
I brought in some basics — black Sanctuary pants, black patent leather ballet flats (unworn), and a black michael kors dress with tags. They passed on everything but the Michael Kors dress due to «style». Hello — what is wrong with you people. Black patent leather unworn ballet flats NEVER go out of style.
They decided only to consign the Michael Kors dress and this is the real clincher. The dress retailed for $ 130, had the tags on it (a.k.a unworn), they priced it at $ 38 and gave me…$ 13. Is that a joke? The only reason I accepted the money was because I didn’t buy the dress (a friend gave it to me hoping it would fit) and so any money was a profit for me.
Consignment used to be a way for people to recoup value on an item that was in good condition or even better, unworn. Now it’s just a way to clean out your closet and hope to make enough to buy a cup of Starbucks coffee on the walk home.

Pretty cool second hand shop in the U St. area. I was browsing with a friend but manage to get a nice pair of ankle boots for $ 7. Sweet!!!

There are definitely times to come and sell your stuff and yesterday, I lucked out here and at BE.
Josh looked over my stuff and took a Max and Cleo blue dress and priced it for $ 16.50, a Kensie cross back gray floral dress with sparkles for $ 13.50, a J. Crew blue silk floral dress for $ 16.50, and an Old Navy green floral skirt for $ 7.50.
I ended up taking 35% of the selling price and walking out with $ 18.90. You get 5% more here than you do with Buffalo Exchange but it’s not clear that the actual dollar amount is any better depending on who prices your items.
I’m happy that I got rid of things and hope someone else will find happiness with them.
Crossroads seems to be more harsh in terms of lighting and feel. I prefer the darker more hunt for your treasure aspect of Buffalo Exchange. Both places seem to have a rotating group of employees so who knows who will like your stuff?

This Crossroads is awesome! On the smaller side compared to the stores in CA but I like it better cause I can see everything.
Layout — Love. It. Not only is it organized by type of garment and color, but some sections are organized by size as well (ex: dresses, pants, etc). Shoes are organized by style too which is great.
Items — Good selection of stuff. When perusing through the racks I saw very little of the items that make me question why it’s sold in store, which is fantastic. I scored an H&M Tank to go out in for $ 6.50 and a «Hippie Scarf» for $ 7.50.
Staff — Friendly and attentive. Thank you!

The storefront was nicely organized, grouped by item and then most things grouped by size. The staff was helpful as well.
The reason I just can’t get behind this place is the PRICING. Honestly if it wasn’t organized I would give it two stars. In what world is a worn target or old navy dress $ 20? Then I found tons of j. Crew/​factory/​Anne Taylor loft skirts that were in style, in great condition for $ 15 which seems more appropriate. So I guess if you have awhile to dig that’s cool. I walked out with a barely worn loft skirt for $ 13, but otherwise most things I liked I couldn’t justify the price. Really, I could go to the outlet stores and buy something new for similar prices.

How did I not know this place existed? I heard great things from a friend in San Fran. I decided to see if there was a Crossroads Trading Co. in DC and low and behold, a block away from a friends place. there it was.
My only qualm with how it is organized is that it’s not organized by size but by color! Come on! I don’t want to have to dig through everything to find a gem that isn’t my size. I do love how big the store is. The selection seems great. I found a great pair of gap slacks for only $ 10, so it’s priced reasonably as well.
I’m excited to bring some of my old stuff in to see if I can sell any of it back. That will be the true test. Ha. This place is now one of my top places to shop!

Visited this establishment a few days ago. The overall experience can be summarized as disappointing. After visiting the website and reading the information about selling clothes, I prepared accordingly. I brought the types of clothing and brands suggested; however, the result was not as advertised.
I went with a number of articles of clothing, in good to great condition. After waiting for 15 minutes, I was able to present my clothing to one of the two cashiers. The first cashier looked at each article and quickly made a buy/​sell decision without any explanation. The cashier selected 7 of my 15 items. Then, inexplicably, the other cashier took over and reassessed all of my articles of clothing. The second cashier then removed 4 of the items selected by the first cashier, then proceeded to chastise the first cashier for initially selecting the items.
At the end of the process, the second cashier selected 4 of my items; however, because I was not pleased by the prospect of receiving $ 13 for clothing valued at more than $ 50 (at its current condition), I asked for my clothing back. The second cashier willingly returned my clothing (however, upon returning home later, I realized that the second cashier failed to return all of my items).
Overall, the experience was not as expected. The service provided by the cashiers was respectful, yet far from friendly. I do not plan on revisiting this place. I will simply donate my clothing instead.
Caveat: The store appears to be concentrated on buying and selling women’s clothing. Thus, if you are attempting to sell women’s clothing, then you may have a good experience.
