I’ve been here twice and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. They make you feel like family, the kind of family you are happy to see. It doesn’t feel like a corporate big box chain dentistry. I’ve always been treated pleasant, and my teeth most importantly feel good, no pain or discomfort. I highly recommend them if you’re new to town. Best to take public transportation here, or you’ll have to park a block away on the street and walk.

I’ve been a patient for over three years now and I really like Dr. Lasky because he’s always on time with appointments, is efficient, and 100% honest about what dental care you do and don’t need. I’ve always been afraid of having dental work done and I have had nothing but great experiences here. Additionally, the office staff is pleasant, as are the hygienists. It is evident that this team has worked together for a long time. I have to say, I love Dr. Lasky. I’ve recommended him a number of times.

Today was my first time getting my semi-​annual check-​up & cleaning at this place. The front desk clerk and my hygienist were very nice and very personable, yet Dr. Lasky was not very friendly. Looks like those are the overall comments on Unilocal.Although my hygienist was very friendly and nice, her cleaning was mediocre at best. She scraped my teeth for a bit and also polished with the polishing tool, yet didn’t floss my teeth. This is the first dental office that has skipped over flossing. I found that to be odd. It appears as though they just do bare bone minimum work since they are an HMO dental office. Equipment is also 20 yrs old, since that’s how long he claimed to be in business. If you are looking for just bare bone cleaning using your HMO insurance, then this place will fulfill that requirement. If you’re looking for a high tech dental spa, this is by no means that! I was assigned Dr. Lasky through my insurance, and honestly the only actual dentistry he did on me was to insert a temporary filling on a broken tooth which subsequently fell out 3 days later while I was on vacation. Beyond that, I would never return to that office, his dentist smock was stained and dirty, the place was in need of a thourough update and cleaning, he still uses a SPIT SINK! I haven’t seen one in like 15 years. The office is brusk, as is he, and honestly he isn’t the worst, but there are so many other choices out there, offices with modern equipment and clean uniforms to start.

I have been a patient for about 3 years and I am extremely happy with Dr. Lasky and his practice. Easy to schedule appointments, nice staff, good at dealing with insurance. The office and equipment look a bit dated, but they do an excellent job in terms of dental care!

He’s an old school type dentist who isn’t trying to make a fast buck by giving extra work you probably don’t need. Some of the staff might come off a little rough, including Dr. Lasky, but if you don’t take it personally, which you shouldn’t, you’ll have a positive experience. They know what they’re doing from the insurance payments to the dental work.
I haven’t been there for many years since I switched insurance and they don’t currently take mine. But when I did go regularly, I usually only had cleanings, which were really thorough.
However, this year, I decided to get dental insurance and went back to get a new nightguard from him. He had done my last one over 7 years ago, so I thought that was a good deal considering how long it lasted. Overall, I had a positive experience again. He was quick and the last nightguard I got from him lasted the test of time. I’m sure this new one will too.

I have to say, I love Dr. Lasky. I’ve recommended him a number of times, but you have to be aware of what you’re in for. He is blunt, he is quick-​paced, and if you are late, you will hear about it.
That being said, he’s probably the best dentist I’ve ever been to in terms of time spent /​constraints /​straightforward advice. Personality-​wise he’s a little curmudgeony, but that’s part of the charm.
This is by no means a «dental spa» or whatever they’re calling the fancy places now. He’s a dentist, he does your dental work, he complains about people being late, and you get on with your day. Hurray! What more are you asking for?

I went to Dr. Lasky for a 2^nd opinion after a previous dentist acted like my entire mouth would fall apart if I didn’t do a number of very expensive procedures not covered by my insurance. I had hardly any wait before seeing Dr. Lasky, and he was very quick and to-​the-​point. After quickly identifying my problem, he explained a reasonable treatment plan, and gave me all the information I needed to make an informed decision about what I wanted to do based on my financial constraints. Unlike other dentists, he did not push expensive products or procedures, and did not try to alarm me into consenting to treatment that was not really needed at the moment. When I got my cavities filled, the process was quick and easy. I will definitely go back to Dr. Lasky because I feel like I can trust his expertise and know that his advice is sound and practicable, not just based on squeezing as much money as he can out of me.

Made an appointment for a cleaning only. I already have a good dentist (Larry Bowers), just needed a good hygienist.
First, I waited nearly half an hour to be seen.
Office charged for a «comprehensive oral evaluation», even though I insisted it would be cleaning only before the appointment was even made. The «comprehensive oral evaluation» consisted of the dentist looking at my teeth for some 20 – 30 seconds. I didn’t even have a chance to refuse it — that’s how quick it was. The dentist was out before I knew it.
I wrote a letter to the dentist, but he was not responsive. He couldn’t even spell my name right on the letter.
Cleaning was fine.
I requested that my records be sent to my regular dentist. I hope they will send them, but I would not be surprised if they gave me troubles.
I do not recommend this office to anyone.

Small but pleasant office near Dupont Circle.
Dr. Lasky is friendly, informative and has a wealth of experience in the field (35 years!). The equipment looks a bit dated, but the filling was done quickly and without pain.
My appointment was at 9:45, and I was seen by 9:50. Was out the door by 10:20.
I do agree with other reviews that the equipment and décor are a somewhat rustic, but considering that the office was able to take me in on a short notice is definitely a plus in my book.
In sum:
Overall Experience — 4 stars.
Office — 3 stars.
Procedure — 4 stars.
Service (making appointment, waiting etc) — 5 stars.

Stephanie, the dental hygienist is fabulous — very positive and knowledgeable. She is very engaging and keeps your mind off the task. Dr. Lasky is completely no nonsense and user friendly.

I think he might have been drunk. The dentist came in slurring then quickly stumbled away, leaving me with the hygienist who did a really terrible job.

Beware! After going here 3 times to have a simple tiny chip fixed in my tooth, and having Lasky fill it crookedly, have it fall out, and finally have it fall out again for good only a year later — do not go here! Just go to a student for free — or a good dentist like Tsaknis — they’ll do much better work. Lasky should pay his patients not only for having do deal with his crabby attitude but for the shit work he does.

Dr. Lasky and his staff are competent and honest. I’ve been a patient for 3 years and have no complaints. They never try to sell you services or products you don’t need, and they accept pretty much all insurance, including my cheap DMO plan. I’ve recommended him to coworkers and none of them have had any problems either. My usual hygienist is Stephanie — she is a dear and she remembers me by name every time I come in.
If you just need a cleaning, make an appointment months in advance, but you might be able to squeeze in much sooner if you call back to check for cancellations. However, if you have a problem like a cavity, he’ll be able to see you on short notice.
Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Lasky’s practice for all your dental care needs.

In my first visit, he left the room 3 times during my cleaning to deal with other patients.
In my second visit, he answered his cell phone while filling a cavity (aka drilling in my tooth).
I’ll never go back.

I saw Dr. Lasky for several years and was more or less pleased at the time. The office is a little scary it’s so outdated, and Dr. Lasky is hard of hearing and his assistant is difficult to understand, which made visits frustrating.
However, upon switching dentists a year and a half ago, I’ve learned that all four filings Dr. Lasky did while I was his patient have to be redone; he did not fill them entirely and did not trim the alloy properly, so I have had further decay and even decay on adjacent teeth as a result.
And I have had chronic gum problems for a few years and didn’t know why. My new hygienist found the problem after one visit: tarter deposits that she showed me upon removal (gross) that said had been there, growing larger, for several years, causing me a lot of pain and bleeding. I can’t believe the hygenists at Dr. Lasky’s office were so careless not to clean my teeth properly.
So glad I’ve moved on. I definitely won’t return to Dr. Lasky and cannot recommend him.

Somewhat brusk. He’s definitely a believer in silver-​mercury alloy fillings and will try to talk you out of anything else. Seems to get the job done.

What a quirky little office, crammed in a tiny converted apartment on the second floor of a residential building in Dupont.
The women at the front desk are friendly and gossip about all the right things: «Did you hear everyone showed up late to J-Lo’s birthday party? I mean, come on, it’s J-​Lo, show some respect.»
And my dental hygienist, a sweet middle-​aged woman named Stephanie, keeps me entertained as she talks and talks while scraping away at my plaque, making me feel good about my not-​so-​white teeth by calling them «very natural,» letting me know where I’ve been a good brusher and pointing out spots where I could step it up, but never without a disclaimer that missed spots are «nothing to get worked up about.»
The doctor himself is equally a character but in a grinch-​like way. He’s constantly complaining that the hygienists haven’t prepared things for him correctly and when I was a few minutes late to my last appointment and Stephanie said it was no problem, he let me know that HE thought it was a problem, curtly inspected my teeth, throwing his instruments on the tray and waddled off without salutation. She assured me that «he’s just a grump» and that the women in the office «just ignore him.»
I’ve never had a cavity, so I probably won’t have to endure more than a few minutes with the dentist himself, and that’s what’s kept me gladly coming back to this office. He’s attracted a staff of women who have to be patient and kind to put up with him, and I feel well taken care of in their hands.
Be sure to make an appointment far in advance if you’re a first-​time patient. I had to book my first cleaning eight months in advance.

He’s cheap, and he’s quick, and he takes my shotty HMO dental insurance. Other than that, I’m not sure I can say anything else positive.
The office is straight out of 1980. It’s inside of what looks to be an old apartment building converted into second rate offices. While conveniently located, it’s small, dark, cramped, and he’s probably been using the same dental equipment since he started practicing.
He barely looks at your teeth, and has dental assistant start working without even explaining what’s happening. The assistants all seem fairly incompetent, and Dr. Lasky continually has to remind them how to use which tools and show them how to do everything.
I’ve had a good bit of dental work done before, and nothing about this guy made me feel comfortable. I’m worried about the work he’s done, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s only made things worse. After two frightening visits (one initial exam/​cleaning, and one filling for a chipped tooth) I won’t be returning.

A very experienced, old-​schooled and honest man. He didn’t try to convince me to go with a root canal when I really only needed a filling. He scheduled me fairly quickly since I actually needed work to be done (his cleaning appointments are booked until Feb.). He works fast, but the downside of that is that I truly felt like I was being butchered at a faster and more vigorous rate. His office is at a prime location (DuPont circle), but the office itself was really tame. It doesn’t have high tech and shiny machines and tools, it is not well decorated, and it is actually really crammed. So walking into an office like that didn’t ease my anxiety of seeing a dentist at all. The last thing, he doesn’t have payment installment options, so all fees have to be paid for by the end of services.
At the end of the day though, he did a good job on my fillings and it wasn’t expensive at all.
