I have tried heaven, and it is the blueberry pancake pie. Dangerously Delicious serves sweet and savory pies. I felt as though I’d be doing myself a disservice if I didn’t get one of each. So, I got the chicken pot pie, accompanied by lettuce and balsamic vinaigrette. The pie was flavorful, and had HUGE chunks of chicken. The crust was perfectly flaky and didn’t overpower the filling, as is often the case with pie. I also got the blueberry pancake pie, and couldn’t recommend it enough. I’m just waiting for my next trip to H street so I can pick up a whole one. The line was long, but, because they are just handing out slices of pie, it moves pretty quickly. I wound up paying $ 13 for my two slices, so it’s a little pricey, but, I’m now very full. A great option for weekday lunches!

Hands down my favorite food truck… ever! When it comes to their savory pies, the chicken pot pie is my go to, but I’d love to try their chicken curry. I’ve tried the SMOG and it was alright but nothing special. As for the sweet pies I love the strawberry rhubarb, mixed berry and cherry pie. If you can’t tell I visit this truck a lot!

I love blueberry pie. I am routinely struck with the craving and have little option to fulfill it.(Paul has a blueberry tart that comes with pastry cream, which I do not care for — I just want the pure blueberries!) I had gotten this slice from the DDT about 2 years ago, was wholly unimpressed, and haven’t been tempted back until today(I’m pregnant…). Today was marginally better, the pie was warmish(last time it was ice cold) the crust was a tad thicker(last time it was paper thin and soggy), and it did have good texture to the dough. However, there was so little flavor going on. The blueberry seemed very lightly sweetened, which is not a bad thing, i prefer less sugar in desserts. But the crust(the pie was labeled vegan) really suffered from lack of butter(and perhaps lack of salt.) I feel like you could approximate the flavors mashing a bowl of raw blueberries and spreading it onto toasted, rolled-thin wonder bread.

Pretty delicious chicken pot pie. It isn’t what I would consider tradition, but it is yummy. There are no peas or potatoes which I did miss. I wish the pie was a little more moist. However it was loaded with delicious chicken chunks.

Quality pies from this truck. I spotted them at Farragut square yesterday and the line was long and slow. I got a savoury and a sweet pie. My savoury pie was STF. Sausage, fennel and tomato. Very crusty pie on the edge which I liked. Meaty and the tomato taste is very subtle. The bottom of the pie was mushy from the box or when I carried it around me. The sweet pie though! I got the Baltimore Bomb. Very bomb! Quality cookie and vanilla taste. The crust crisp and the same crust crust on the edge like the savoury one. Consistency is great!

The savory pies are my favorite — particularly the one with fennel, but don’t rule out the chocolate peanut butter chess or the Baltimore bomb.

We came here during my soft foods, post braces and he ordered the chicken pot pie and sweet potato pie… I only ordered the apple pie with ice cream(couldn’t chew on foods sigh) of course I dipped my spoon into his chicken pot pie and it was delicious! Like whaaaaat! Yep we come at least 1 – 2 a month lol… sorry I’m not sorry.

Great selection of savory and sweet pies plus a couple quiche options. Veggie potato, chili pies and spinach cheese quiche. Good portion size and friendly service. $ 7.5 for savory and $ 6.5 for sweet so a decent price point. Baltimore bomb is amazing! Long lines but they move fast. Salad is just nice lettuce with balsamic. Fine but doesnt add much. Overall definitely in upper echelon of the food truck pantheon.

I’ve heard good things about Dangerously Delicious Pies so when I found out the food truck was in the area, I decided to give it a try. I got the Steak Mushroom Onion and Gruyère(SMOG) savory pie —(the last one too, so I got the honor of crossing it off the menu board!) — and it wasn’t bad but it was also nothing special. The crust wasn’t exactly soggy but it was flimsy and not flaky. The filling was kind of bland; I would not get the SMOG again. Also, maybe because I got the last slice, the portion was small(pictured), especially for a slice that I’m paying over $ 7 for. The meal came with a side salad with balsamic. I did like the balsamic, but it was very acidic. I am interested to try additional flavors, so I will go back to DDP.

Updated review: okay so I tried the chicken pot pie. Omg when I bit into it the first bite of chicken was lovely, then I found some roasted carrots and peas and potatoes. It IS dangerously delicious.

Went here in honor of Pi Day. Had great expectations as there was a long line of folks waiting to order. However, I think it was just because the cashier was in no rush to clear the line and everyone else also had the same idea to go here for pie on Pi Day after lunch. Haha… We ordered the Baltimore Bomb and Sweet Potato pie slices. Baltimore Bomb tasted like an egg tart with chocolate syrup running thru it. It wasn’t a bomb I was expecting. It was alright. Thought the chocolate parts were blueberries. Wish it was. I imagine it would’ve tasted better. Sweet potato pie was much better. Not too sweet and the filling had better consistency of firmness and texture. Reminded me of Thanksgiving. Wanted to try the cherry pie. It wasn’t available.

Dangerously Delicious Pies has both savory pies and sweet pies. Their options can be viewed here. The selection of pies that are on the truck varies, so be sure to check their twitter to find out what they are offering. For the fall season you will likely find Apple, Apple Caramel, Pumpkin, Pecan, Chocolate Chess, Pulled Pork BBQ, STF(Spinach, Tomato, and Fennel), Thanksgiving Turkey, and more. Since it is close to Thanksgiving, I wanted to try the Pumpkin Pie and the Thanksgiving Turkey Pie. Unfortunately I got there late in the day(had gone to TaKorean and CapMac first) so they were all sold out of the Pumpkin Pie. My favorite pie icon sad Food Truck #5: Dangerously Delicious Pies. So I only tried the Thanksgiving Turkey Pie. The Thanksgiving Turkey Pie has a homemade crust, like all their pies, and is filled with turkey, roasted potatoes, stuffing, green beans, cranberries, and onions. All of your Thanksgiving staples. The pie is well spiced with a perfect amount of black pepper to complement the turkey. The crust is flaky and crispy, and the roasted potatoes are a nice touch. Hope I get a chance to try the Pumpkin before they stop serving it! I’ve also had the Baltimore Bomb(many times) which is made from Berger cookies, a Baltimore speciality. SOGOOD.

I have been baking my own pies for a few years now and have always looked up to the Dangerously Delicious Pie folk for making it into a profitable business. But I kept missing the food truck. A few weeks ago I finally found it– right place at the right time. And, of couse– my luck– they were sold out of sweet pie!(I’d already eaten, so was not looking for a second lunch with one of their savory pies.) Finally today I went a bit out of my way and was early enough that they weren’t sold out. The only problem– which flavor? I recently tried to make a mixed berry pie and was moderately disappointed by the way it came out. So naturally I was excited to try what they accomplished with their version. But I also recently made a peach pie– thrilled by my results, I was looking to compare with a professional. The only solution I could come up with was to get both.(No, I didn’t eat two pieces of pie. I shared with a friend.) Peach: I thought the peach was a little runny and was surprised they didn’t take the skins off the peach slices before baking. Maybe this is just preference, but I like it better skin-off. The skins seemed to add a hint of sour /tartness to the peach filling. But mostly, I object to the texture change. My peaches came out silky and sweet. Their peaches(the actual meat of the fruit) seemed a bit fibrous. I don’t know if this difference has any relationship with the skin or not. Maybe it’s just getting late into peach season. Mixed Berry: Their mixed berry pie was definitely better than mine. It was less runny(an issue I’ve been struggling with) and the flavor was more balanced. Mine came out too tart, while their’s was not sickeningly sweet but was nicely balanced between sweet strawberries and tart blueberries and blackberries. Overall– I’d get this one next time and avoid the peach. Crust: Their crust was perfect. Delicious, flaky, with a light dusting of sugar to give a pop of sweet. The crust was my favorite part.

I don’t often treat myself to lunch(especially when I’m working in SW because I’m close to L’ Enfant Plaza where the food trucks are, and I’d go broke. But on a recent Friday, my co-worker and I decided to get lunch at the plethora of Food Trucks at L’Enfant Plaza. #FoodtruckFriday Ok enough hash tags and back to lunch. After looking at the different food trucks, I decided on the Dangerously Delicious Truck from Dangerously Delicious Pies. I have yet to visit their store front but figured their food truck would be good. For $ 7.50, you can get your choice of a slice of pie with a side salad. Decent value and it’s a decent sized piece of pie. I decided on their Chicken Pot Pie and it was delicious!!! Fresh vegetables, flavorful chicken, and their crust, ohh their yummy crust! Flaky and holds the pie well. They make good savory pies and I am definitely curious to try their sweet pies. They really live up to their names and make dangerously delicious pies!

Danger! Danger! Keep away! After hearing much hype and seeing the herd of people wait patiently in line, I decided to give it a go. As a vegetarian, I decided to go with the spinach and goat cheese quiche that comes with a salad for $ 7. My excitement for the quiche quickly disappeared as soon as I opened up the box. Expecting a warm large slice of quiche that would settle my hunger pains, I was hugely disappointed with a COLDQUICHE that was SMALLER than my FIST. The spinach and goat cheese was okay, not that flavorful. The worst part was the crust, very dry no taste. The salad was a joke, seriously I laughed and didn’t even take one bite. It was just spinach leaves, there were no veggies, not even a cucumber. Take a tip on how to make a good side salad from Basil & Thyme. After taking a few bites of the quiche, I was starving and headed over to Far East Grille and Fojol Bros VolaThai(both of which I would highly recommend). Literally, $ 7 tossed in the trash.

I got lunch from this truck yesterday not really knowing what to expect. I mean, I like pies. I like key lime pie. I like chocolate chess pie. I like oatmeal cream pies. Chicken pot pie isn’t my favorite, but I figured it would be fine because this truck sells all kinds of pies. I got the SMOG with steak, mushrooms, onions, and gruyère. For $ 7.50, this is a good deal. A generous slice with a side«salad,» aka some lettuce and a little cup of oil and vinegar(still good). The pie had a healthy meat: rest of pie ratio, but it had that specific chicken pot pie taste but with steak and mushrooms instead of chicken and peas. I also got the Baltimore Bomb due to my «food trucks only come around every once in a while, so I might as well get the specialty while I still can!» rationale. While the savory pies are a good deal, the sweet pies are a bad deal. $ 6.50/slice is kind of a lot. Also, I was not pleased when my slice looked nothing like the picture of the slice on the website. This is much more custard-y and much less chocolate-y than I had anticipated. I put it in the fridge at lunchtime and got it out around 4, which was excellent foresight on my part because I think this pie tastes best cold. It was tasty, but not $ 6.50 worth of tasty. I saved half of it to eat today, but I’m not even that excited about it, considering it is supposed to be a special treat. My coworkers got the pulled pork pie and the sausage and fennel pie, and both reported similarly. They were pleased with the amount of meat, but next time food trucks come around, we think we will try something else.

Recently, I tried their savory pies for the first time. I got the SMOG(steak, mushroom, onion, gruyère) which came with the side salad and balsamic vinaigrette(my fave). I don’t know about everyone else but I got a pretty big piece. Maybe it was because it was the last piece they had left and I got all the yummy bits from the tray. The filling was so flavorful… such a great combination of foodie things. You can pretty much forget about the bottom crust on this(and probably some other savory pies) because the filling makes it way super soggy to be enjoyable. Taking these things into account, I will give you my wise sage advice: if you want good pie, go good and early. I think they usually open their window at 11am? In my past trips, I go for their sweet pies. Any one of their pecan pies, the regular or the chocolate, is pretty much the best pie you get in the DC area. I could eat it anytime or all the time… outside of their truck, at their store on H street, at my desk, at home, or even hiding in the closet so I don’t have to share. You know, normal pie eating activity.

$ 6.50 per slice of sweet pie, sure is pricey. We got two — the pecan and pancake batter. Unfortunately for us, they both had similar flavor, as the pancake batter tasted like the pecan minus the nuts. I must say that it is nice to have a truck offering dessert(and savory pies) as the rest are all focused only on savory.

I have always loved the dangerously delicious pies. For some reason they seem to taste better to me when I get them off the truck than they do when I visit their restaurant. Variety is something that the DDT(Dangerously Delicious Truck) is NOT lacking. They always mix up their menu and seem to always have something that everyone will like… no matter how diverse the group. Since they have dessert pies as well, I will just say that you won’t be dissappointed, but, it’s the savory pies that keep me coming back…
