I first found Detailz when I had the unfortunate experience of backing my car into a pole in my parking garage at work (it appeared out of nowhere, I swear). Luckily, no cracks or dents, but it did scrape some paint off my driver’s side rear quarter panel and the metal was showing. It was a starting to snow and I park on the street at home, so I was afraid it would rust. I called Detailz and Wally told me he was leaving in an hour but he would wait for me to swing by. I came by and Wally buffed out a lot of the damage (seriously, it looked 80% better after him just buffing out the scrape) and then helped me apply some clear nail polish over the metal while I waited for my touch-​up paint to come in.
Once my touch-​up paint arrived, I swung back by Detailz and Wally taught me how to apply my own touch-​up paint at no charge! I feel like I have a truly usable life skill! Thanks for being a stand-​up guy, Wally, and going above and beyond! (Pro tip: You don’t paint it on. You kind of set it where it needs to go and let it expand to fill the space. Use as small a brush as you can and remember less is more!)
A few months later, I brought my car back again for a gold detail on the outside. I take super good care of the inside and it’s kind of delicate (Prius with easily-​scratchable plant based plastics), so I only trust myself on the interior. Wally spent about four hours on the outside of my car and, I swear, when I got it back it looked better than the day I bought it. I couldn’t stop touching the exterior because the paint was so smooth. It was beautiful and I was thrilled.
I have since moved across country, but I recommend Detailz to anyone I know in the DC area with a car. The service is well worth the price and Wally is amazing. The care and pride he takes in his work is exemplary, and he’s a really, really nice guy to boot. Go see him, and tell him Sarah with the Prius sent you. I’m working on getting both of us jobs at Tesla out here, so he might not be there long! ;)

AMAZING job! I came here over the summer with my car that has never been cleaned in the inside by someone other than myself. The owner could tell my car had been through a lot and took an extra 30 mins to make sure my car looked good as new. When returned, it looked as if it was BRAND NEW and I did not even recognize it. I was very happy with the results and worth the $$$

Wally and his team do an amazing job! And they’re so nice! Such a convenient location to walk into Georgetown or catch a cab while I waited for my car. I took my car to them twice after my car was stolen and completely trashed (yes, twice!). And they made it look like new again, amazing. Highly recommended!

Great service, very attentive staff. I made an appointment for 1030, showed up twenty minutes early and the staff took me immediately, very fine work and timely.
On a side note, a worker there, I think ‘Mike’ was sexy AF. Watching him work as the sweat beaded upon his bald head made my day, the service was great, but his sexy style and flirtatious attitude will keep me coming back.

Yes. as good as it gets! Great & prompt service, honesty & near perfect results, all done with the best in customer relations. Wally saved my car from an open air experience with a thunderstorm (sunroof & windows :(:(:(.
He took an amazing amount of time with me, helping to explain what had to be done to insure that I did not have water related issues in the future & was also so kind as to let me know what I could do if I needed to cure the problem myself.
A rare experience, these days, to encounter a non chain establishment that is old school & values workmanship, fairness & customer relations & is not afraid to take the time to have a conversation about your car «issues»!

Outstanding. First, as you drive up Wisconsin Avenue, note that Detailz is set off the road a bit at the end of a short driveway. I missed it the first time.
I went with the Bronze inside and outside detail, and I was blown away. Service was excellent, and they finished my car in less than an hour and a half. It looked BRAND NEW. I will definitely return to Detailz.

What an awesome job they did on getting our minivan cleaned. Honestly, it had been over a year and it was awful when they started and gleaming when they finished. We did a gold interior/​bronze exterior for our 10 year old Sienna. The outside looks as new as possible and the inside is soooo much better.
We got the coupon on Unilocal,but opted to use credit to pay. They were graceful about it all.

Yesterday I had my beige 1985 Mercedes-​Benz 300d detailed at Detailz Fine Auto Cleaning. In short, it was an amazing experience and my mind is still blown a day later! A year-​and-​a-​half ago I started a new job and needed a «commuter car» (as they say in Fairfield County, CT). I love cars, especially old ones, and I got this example for a steal. It was solid mechanically, but the interior and exterior looked as if they had never been cleaned, at least not properly. I really felt there was more to the car than met the eye, at the very least I wanted to see what I really had. I had found Detailz Fine Auto Cleaning on Unilocal,was impressed by their reviews and, to my amazement, my wife gifted me with a «Complete Gold Package — large size» gift-​certificate for my birthday! I took the car in yesterday (Saturday) and they worked on it from 10:00am to 5:30pm! The finished product was/​is amazing! The car looks brand new! They worked at least a few miracles. They far exceeded my expectations for the exterior, and they revived the interior in a way I would not have thought possible. They sorted several spots that I felt sure would require work by an auto body shop. I knew it would be a VERY uphill battle for them… the car is that classic beige, it has never been garaged and the paint is quite weather-​worn, things have been cooking into the exterior since 1985 and, among other things, there was both water and oil damage to the floors and carpeting. I truly wish you could see what the Benz now looks like! While I have no intention of selling my car, I’m confident I could get $ 1000’s more simply based on this new appearance. Oh, and it rained last night (all night), and the car still looks as gorgeous as it did when I collected it from Detailz Fine Auto Cleaning at 5:30pm the night before. As an added bonus, the guys at Detailz are warm and friendly and I had a good time chatting with them (prior to driving home) about my car, other cars, and their business. Don’t rush to judgement on your old car just yet, get it into Detailz Fine Auto Cleaning first. On a side note, pop into nearby Patisserie Poupon after you’ve dropped of your automobile!

I wish I had a before picture because that would be the beat way to show the great work these guys did. I have a dog with white fur and my car mats and carpet are black, so bad combo. When I made my appointment, they told me it would be about an hour to detail my interior. But it took them more than two hours and they charged me the same price we agreed upon. I did a lot of research and am really glad I chose this company. Would definitely come back to detail my exterior.

They did a great job and are very nice to deal with. Prices might be on the high side, but it’s worth it.

Fantastic staff, and clearly the best place in the city. That quality does not come cheap, however. My car was in a pretty bad way after foolishly loaning it to a friend. The staff did a number on it and got the interiors and exteriors looking as good as new. If only I could say the same for their impact on my wallet.

Place does pretty stellar work, but be prepared to spend hundreds of dollars. Definitely worth it once a year, especially if you want your engine compartment cleaned to «like-​new» state.

I highly recommend checking this place out for whatever detailing work you may need. Though they did an outstanding job on my car, it’s the people that I appreciated the most. I had a chance to chat with them as they finished buffing my car, and also overheard a conversation with one of their regular customers. These guys understand customer service.

Simply amazing. My daughter had covered the interior windows with loads of stickers. Add melted crayons and remnants of various snacks and you can understand how disgustingly dirty my car was. After learning that out-​of-​town clients were coming for a meeting in Potomac I acknowledged that my car was in desperate need of a deep clean. I spoke with Mike on Monday; clients were due today (Wednesday). He was able to fit me in the next morning.
Val met me Tuesday morning @ 9. I had been warned by Mike that it likely would take all day to do the interior of my car. Val called me just after 3 to say it was done. Words cannot do justice to how amazing my car looks now. All traces of stickers are gone. The cup holders are no longer a Petri dish of crayons & food. The guys cleaned everywhere, including the ceiling! My Toyota Highlander is like new.

Great job these guys did! Well worth the money!
Option one: go to your regular car wash, pay $ 20, pick up somewhat clean car that was run through the mechanic wash and lightly dusted inside. See that bug smudged on your window? Yeah, still there.
Option two: pay $ 79 for the basic interior/​exterior wash and leave this place with a brand new shinning car.
After a recent trip to the Outer Banks my car was full of everything: sand, grass, sun screen smudges, and wonderful fishy odor from all the seafood we consumed while out there (mmm, Old Bay seasoning). I dropped the car on Sunday morning — thanks to the guys who were so accommodating — and picked it up 1.5 hours later spotless. Absolutely worth the price and all the headache they saved me trying to figure out how to get rid of the odor.
Loved the customer service as well! But I do agree it can be somewhat hard to find them — check out the pictures to know where to turn!
PS they have a facebook special promotion on their web-​site that will save you $ 25.

Got the Gold Interior option for $ 189. My car was super dirty inside and needed a thorough scrubbing. I’ve had the car for a few years and it was previously with other owners. Let’s just say they didn’t keep it very clean.
For $ 189 ($ 90 for $ 125 Unilocal Deal), the guys at Detailz did an amazing job. I was pleased with the attention to detail. Everything was done and the interior looked brand new. I was able to drop my car off early in the morning before they were opened at 7:30am, and pick it up when they closed at 6pm. They were patient and gave me my honest opinion about what option I should choose.
The detail is expensive compared to other options but these guys do a great job. Now, I just need to keep my car clean. That’s about it!

They say women don’t keep their cars as clean as men — yeah, I’m perpetuating that stereotype. For sure. I brought my vehicle here in a truly sorry state; I mean, I was embarrassed at how disgusting it was. They worked a miracle on my car in less than 24 hours (I had to drive clients around the following day and they squeezed me in.)
They were accommodating with my schedule and did a truly fantastic job — every nook and cranny was impossibly clean. The shop itself is a little tricky to find, its up a driveway on a hill so look carefully, but it’s well worth it once you’re there!

After reading reviews on here, I decided this would be the best bet for a recently purchased luxury used car (whose interior was kinda beat up and dirty). I made an appointment, dropped the car off at 12 and received a call when it was complete (shortly before close time).
The gold package was worth every penny. The interior was nearly immaculate and had that freshly oiled look (without being greasy) on the trim and vinyl seats. They weren’t joking about cleaning «every nook and cranny.» The exterior, as expected, was perfectly polished; tires had that new ‘wet’ look to them. They even removed the dealer stickers from the rear without charging extra (by request).
Highly recommended if you want to spoil your car.

Good place. Excellent customer service. Wally (sp?) was super helpful, almost to a fault. It seemed VERY important to him that I be fully satisfied with the service, which I was. Hence this review.
As others have mentioned, it’s a bit pricey — I got the Gold Interior package for $ 189, and while the work was excellent, wow, that’s a lot for vacuuming, shampooing, and wiping down. That said, they are very thorough (it took over three hours to complete the service), so I suppose you get what you pay for. You should definitely buy the $ 95 coupon (worth $ 125) available through Unilocal before going; it will save you $ 30 on whatever service you order (assuming you spend at least $ 125 in the first place).
The place could be difficult to find for the uninitiated, as others have mentioned. If you’re coming up Wisconsin Ave (traveling north, up from M St), you’ll need to turn right into the driveway that appears to be the driveway for Ipsa Salon. Detailz’s cleaning bays are in the back, behind the street-​facing buildings. Coming down Wisconsin Ave, you’ll of course turn left just after Ipsa Salon. It’s located just north of Q St, as another frame of reference. See the photos I posted for a visual of the entrance.
Overall, good place. Great customer service and good outcome. Just pricey. Also a word of advice. if you have fabric seats and plan on driving away right after completing a detailed interior cleaning, be prepared for the seat to be somewhat moist. Wally and his guys did the best they could to dry it with a blower and it felt dry to the touch, but after sitting on it for 10 minutes, it did make my pants and shirt a bit wet. Nothing they could do; just a byproduct of the cleaning. Your options are to pick it up later in the day after the seats are fully dry or perhaps bring a cloth (preferably non-​absorbent) to sit on if you need the car immediately. I doubt this would affect leather seats, as I’m sure they’d dry much more quickly, but just be forewarned.
