Dr. Andrew Carver, Farragut Foot & Ankle

Dr. Carver is a very talented physician. You can expect to receive an accurate diagnosis and appropriate and immediate treatment. I personally had an issue that was difficult to diagnosis and saw many doctors before arriving at Farragut Foot & Ankle. Dr. Carver carefully and thoroughly explained all procedures. He takes the time to talk to you (and not down to you) which I find makes me more comfortable discussing medical issues. Appointments never feel rushed. The waiting room is clean, neat and tastefully appointed. The office itself is well located by a metro station and on K St. making it very accessible. I have seen Dr. Carver for over a year (now for orthotics as my previous issue is resolved thanks to Dr. Carver) and I highly recommend him.

I made an appointment through ZocDoc, but when I got there I discovered that the office no longer took my insurance (CareFirst BCBS). No worries – Dr. Carver gave me a free consult (I had a soft corn), gave me basic treatment (shaved the callus down) and a protective pad, and sent me on my way with advice for what to do if it continued to bother me.
How often do you get free medical treatment? That was a lovely surprise.

I really enjoyed my visit with Dr. Carver. The office environment gave fantastic first impressions and my actual visit was productive. I appreciate that Dr. Carver gave me his undivided attention, helped explain the cause of my running injury and walked me through a treatment plan and preventative measures.

Superb doctor! I had been having issues with my foot for years. This was the ONLY doctor who could help me. His experience is unmatched in the area. The orthotics he made me feel great by the way. No more pain!!! Highly recommend!

I went to Dr. Carver to treat a toenail fungus on my big toe. I saw him over the course of a year and a half with several (5 or 6) laser treatments (costing in total nearly $ 2000) that had absolutely no effect. Each visit he would tell me that it was working but that it would take a while for the toenail to grow out. I finally went to another podiatrist who offered laser treatments for toenail fungus and discovered that the machine Dr Carver was using wasn’t anything like the laser treatment I was now receiving. I’ve had one treatment and the fungus is gone. It’s now 5 months later and the toenail is almost fully grown out and fungus free. Dr Carver is a complete fraud.

Great experience. He explained the procedure in a way I could understand, made sure I was completely comfortable and certain before proceeding. Deathly afraid of needles, but he helped me throughout the entire process!

Great experience in my treatment of heel spurs and tendinitis with shockwave treatment, medication, and orthotics. He listens and communicates well, is knowledgeable, and has helped me greatly. He also has a nice staff. Much better result than when I was treated by an orthopedist.

I just finished my Dr.‘s appointment and i had really bad pain in both my heels when I initially went in. I could barely walk. Every step was painful. From what I googled I thought I had tendonitis, or plantar fasciitis but as Dr. Carver examined my feet, I have Plantar Fasciitis. As he treated me, he showed great concern and was very passionate about about helping me. When he finished treating me, and I got up to leave, I could walk without any pain. I was able to stand on my tip toes and everything without anymore pain. I highly recommend him to everyone!!!

I have flat feet and I was having significant foot pain even though I have a good quality shoe (Johnston Murphy) with supposedly good insoles. Made an appointment with Dr. Carver and he thoroughly examined my feet, my shoes, my history and my current lifestyle, including what my medications are. He correctly predicted where my pain was felt based on all of the information he learned.
He made a mold of both of my feet and explained in detail what he wanted to do to alleviate the pain. Basically, he wanted to build custom orthotic insoles. They took only a week to come back and on my second appointment, Dr. Carver made minor adjustments so they fit perfectly into my shoes and they are transferable to all of my other shoes.
I’m now pain-​free and my legs and back feel much better. Dr. Carver is a cool cat; funny, great bedside manner but serious in that he wants you to feel and be better. He books up fast but making an appointment was very easy.

I had been having awful foot pain for the last three weeks and found Dr. Carver through Zocdoc. When I arrived for my appointment, I put in all of my information via an iPad, which I thought was pretty cool and efficient. I explained to Dr. Carver about my foot pain and after listening to me, he was able to identify what was wrong immediately. He explained in detail, with a foot diagram and even drew pictures about what was going on with my foot to make sure I understood. He was patient and courteous. He offered me some free foot inserts to correct my issue, told me about other courses of action if the inserts didn’t work and then sent me on my way. I even stayed a while longer in his office talking to him and his admin! I can tell he really cares about his patients! Please note that he does not take insurance but is so worth it to get professional care!

my one and only experience with a podiatrist was awsome thanks to mr carver. i am a 21-​year-​old young lady who’s toes were turning black. it seemed that the doc knew what to do right away and jumped into action! he first shaved all of the visible fungus off of the surface to get my natural toenail color back, then, he used a laser treatment and gave me spray to put on daily… i have only had 1 out of 3 laser treatments… its great to say that i am no longer nervous about the treatment, self conscious about my toes, and look forward to seing him again! :) thnx doc… ooooooh, one more thing he was very understanding about my circumstances in my life right now and knocked off quite a generous chunk of the laser treatment cost. brightened up my day and my toes!!! :) :) :) :) :)

Dr. Carver is a great doctor. He does the entire treatment by himself, even cleaning the fungus nail. Most other doctors would have assistants do this.
I just had the fourth treatment there last week. I have seen big improvement since the third treatment. My nails were very very bad before, and are much much better now. Thanks Dr. Carver!

Dr. Carver is an amazing doctor he take care of my foot very well. he got my full trust and i feel safe and comfortable after the treatment i’am so happy he was very good at what he was doing.

I went to Dr. Carver after so many attempts of getting rid of my fungus toe nails. Laser never worked because they never cut, neither clean my toe nails. He completely cut my nails and applied laser. I can’t say that he was the most pleasant, but to be honest, who goes to the doctor to make friends? He was good enough to work with and the bottom line is that I wanted to get rid of the fungus and that is what the doctor was able to accomplish for me. After 9 months, my toenails looks great. I can wear sandals again! I am ready to rock my toes this summer!

WOW! Wish I could give NO stars but I have to give at least one to warn others about Mr. Carver’s TERRIBLE customer service skills. I browsed the internet for a podiatrist/​orthopedic doctor in the DMV area. I am from California and do not know the area very well at all but after checking out a few websites, I decided on Mr. Carver’s office. Not having much money, I appreciated the fact that he offered a «free» consultation. Turns out they aren’t really «free» at all and I should’ve checked out his reviews!
I gave Mr. Carver’s office a call Tuesday 1÷21÷14, spoke to a lovely lady who was very polite and we set an appointment for Thursday 1÷23÷14. Now it was snowing pretty heavy when I made the appointment, streets were closed but I figured it would clear up by the time my appointment rolled around and it would be safe to drive. Turns out that was not the case. The roads were are still icy and it will be snowing again tomorrow! Which is the day of my appointment so I was planning to call and reschedule because I am from California and not used to snow. I am already a bad driver and do not feel comfortable driving on icy streets. Smart right? For the safety of myself as well as others! Well, turns out Mr. Carver did NOT feel that way at all.
Before I could cancel my appointment the nice lady from the office gave me a courtesy call to remind me of my appointment. I then explained to her my situation and she totally understood. No big deal, so I thought, these things happen all the time. YOU ARE RUNNING A FREAKING BUSINESS MR. CARVER… YOU WILL HAVE CANCELLATIONS… NO WAIT, RESCHEDULED APPOINTMENTS FROM TIME TO TIME! GET USED TO IT! So we agree to set the new appointment for next week, Tuesday 1÷28÷14. No less than 2 minutes after I rebooked with the nice lady, this mad man (Mr. Carver) calls me back. Sounding very upset and practically demanding that I keep my appointment for tomorrow, Thursday 1÷23÷14, he basically tried to make me feel dumb for not wanting to drive on icy roads and telling me he’s losing money because of me. I thought to myself, «who does that?» After about 3 minutes of him yelling at me, I just told him that I think it’s best that he cancel my rescheduled appointment for Tuesday also, at this point, I’m scared of the guy. I certainly don’t want to put my health in his hands. His rude reply: «YEAH I WAS JUST GOING TO SUGGEST THAT!» I was speechless.

Mr. Carver, you shouldn’t be so rude to people. I did not cancel my appointment, I rescheduled it! You should NEVER try to force a potential customer, or any customer, into doing anything they don’t want to do. I am a smart girl and I’m not going to have a car accident because you can’t «fill a spot.» Maybe if you would have been nice, I would have come in on Tuesday like I planned and you could’ve suckered me out of a bunch of money like you did poor S.B. a few comments below me. I feel sorry for that receptionist, she seems like a nice lady, you probably yell at her all the time. Good luck running a business like that.

Nice guy but do your internet research. You will find some very unsettling things about Dr. Carver. He lost his license in CA and HI. Domestic abuse.
Went to office to try laser toe nail removal — 1500 hundred dollars later. No success. To be fair — Dr. Craver did warn me that this could happen. Also — very painful procedure for the first 10 minutes while the machine gets used to you but he told me that my response was atypical.
Went to different DPM. Went on oral meds for 3 months — happy toes!
Bottom line — wish it would have worked.

I have been to many podiatrist trying to get my nail fungus taken care of. For the first time I walked out of the office with my nails looking presentable! Yes, that is correct, the doctor worked on my nails to make them look good. I have not been able to wear open toe shoes for over 7 years now because of the embarrassing nail fungus there but he made them look great. In addition, he explained our plan of action to get rid of the fungus permanently and laid out the entire game plan.
This is by far the best food doctor I have ever been to and the most awesome doc ever!

Before seeing this podiatrist, do your research. Everything you need to know about this podiatrist is available through Google. Spousal battery, unethical conduct, and criminal business practice are all there. Andrew Carver, DPM is no longer allowed to practice podiatry in the state of California.

While researching podiatrists, I came across Dr. Carver’s website and was impressed with his site and bio. However, upon further review, it appears that he is not honest in his bio. He states that he has been in practice in his DC office since 2000. However, I found articles on line that state that he ran the risk of having his California license revoked, which would mean that he would be unable to obtain a license in other states. So, he voluntarily turned in his California license in 2004. He only opened in DC last year.
I’m curious what else he is hiding.

While this man might be a capable doctor, his business practices are extremely suspicious and disheartening.
My intention when I first went to see Dr. Carter was just to receive an examination of my foot bones; however, he somehow talked me in to getting fitted for $ 500 shoe inserts and $ 200 rubber toe bumper guards in the first 10 minutes of the appointment. (This is probably my fault; I am bad at saying «no».) I managed to decline the toe bumper guards, since I knew I would never wear them, but decided to accept the cost of the $ 500 shoe inserts. While checking out, he then proceeded to bill me for the cost of my appointment in full ($ 200), instead of my traditional $ 10 copay, despite the fact that he takes my health insurance. He assured me that he would «forward my health insurance reimbursement to me» when he received it. Shady.
Several weeks later, a check for $ 88 appeared in my mailbox; it was a personal check, handwritten by the doctor. Nothing else was in the envelope; there was no note, no receipt, nothing. I called his office and asked for some paperwork; I wanted him to prove that out of my $ 200 out-​of-​pocket appointment, my only reimbursement was $ 88. Several days later, I received another envelope in the mail from him, that contained an invoice he had handwritten. It just said «Patient owed $ 88 from health care company». Again, no official paperwork, only his own handwriting. My healthcare company however did send me official paperwork, saying that my total reimbursement should have been over $ 150, not a mere $ 88. I photocopied all this paperwork and mailed it back to Dr. Carver, asking him to please explain and to please reimburse me in full.
That was over a month ago. Predictably, no response. Dr. Carver, you owe me some money.
