I had a fantastic experience working with Dwell and Christal Goetz to purchase my first condo. Christal did an excellent job every step of the way. I knew nothing about the home buying process, so I greatly appreciated all of the time she took to explain to me in detail every single step. I could always count on her to answer my questions quickly and thoroughly, whether in person, by phone, or by email.
She was always available to visit places with me, and provided great insight into the pros and cons of the different condos we visited. And when it came to the offer and closing, she made the process as smooth and painless as possible. It was a great experience, and I have no complaints!

Christal Goetz is one of the most professional folks I’ve ever encountered in any field. I don’t suffer fools: this woman is ON IT. When we stumbled across a house Sunday morning, she had us in a ratified sales contract by Tuesday afternoon. Really.
Christal represented us first as seller, then later as buyer. She helped us sell high and buy low, meaning we had money left over to renovate our new home. Her recommendations for financing, home inspection, and title companies were top-​notch too, saving us time and hassle. We loved the team approach.
Christal is no ordinary realtor: she has a degree in Housing, so looks at real estate in a much bigger picture. She’s also an MBA savvy on every financial aspect. She is our realtor for life and we are already planning our next property adventure with her!

I would not hesitate to recommend Christal Goetz or Jennifer Myers – they are both wonderful real estate agents. This review is mainly about Christal, though. She specializes in the neighborhood I wanted to get into – Capitol Hill– and she is incredibly knowledgeable about both the market in the area and the neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods. She worked with me for quite a while, as the market was hot and my budget was not. I was consistently amazed by her patience with this and willingness to get me through to a fantastic row house in my desired area, with the yard I was wistfully hoping for.
All in all, we made four offers and looked at dozens of properties and she was always positive and even helped me stay positive when I was getting down in the dumps about my budget. She also has an extensive list of contractors, inspectors, locksmiths, mortgage brokers, etc. that can help make the process easier for you.

I used Dwell to sell an apartment building in Washington DC. It was a property that had been passed down within the family, so I knew nothing about the neighborhood or the DC market. I chose Dwell after a search of agents. In the interview process they were head and shoulders above the other candidates. And then, they really separated from the pack during the selling process. They were very informative and explained things in a way that I could understand. They worked tirelessly with the tenants and DC Government and the transaction happened quickly with multiple offers, landing us above our asking price. As I entered the experience, i was fearful of all the work and effort to get rid of the property and Dwell took it over and made it so easy is for me. I am every pleased and highly recommend Dwell and in particular, our agent, Christal Goetz.

We love Dwell!
Graham helped us buy our first home and was there for us every step of the way. He first talked us through the process and made sure he understood everything we wanted so that we could use our time effectively. He knows D.C. very well, and what to expect from the very competitive market. When we found our dream home, he quickly wrote up the most competitive offer we could put forth, all while on personal vacation. My girlfriend and I are confident it was the timely and competitive offer that got us our house and we couldn’t be happier. Graham was happy to provide recommendations, but encouraged us to shop around at all times — for lenders, inspectors, etc., and helped us schedule all the necessary appointments. He was constantly on top of every party, making sure that nothing was going to derail the process. Before closing, he made sure we understood everything we were signing so we felt prepared when we sat down at the table. He also worked diligently to ensure we got a few discounts we were entitled to, that we otherwise wouldn’t have noticed.

A colleague introduced us to Christal Goetz, and we’re so glad that she did. Christal navigated us through the process of buying our first home with tremendous expertise and patience. She gave us a good sense of what to expect and how to prepare — taking all of our questions seriously and answering each one without using any jargon or confusing terminology (a big deal; before deciding to work with Christal, we had met with a few other agents who seemed to be speaking a whole other language). Christal took the time to know us and understand what we were looking for, while presenting us with things to consider that we otherwise would have overlooked. Above all, she was always upfront about what we could expect during the process — good or bad. All of this amounted to a fantastic buying experience that we would gladly endorse. We also want to thank Phil Reeves, another Dwell agent, who represented us while we were looking for properties in Maryland before we settled on Virginia. My wife and I had the privilege to work with Jennifer Myers when purchasing our first home last year. She was head and shoulders above other realtors we met with. Her organization and attention to detail stand out the most. She was able to explain the process to us simply and clearly. Everything she said would happen did happen, so there were no surprises. Jennifer took plenty of time with us and let us figure out what we wanted and needed on our own, with only a gentle nudge when we needed it. Jennifer was incredibly nice and easy going. You can end up spending a lot of time with your realtor going to properties and doing paperwork, so it’s important that you get along. All in all, her advice and guidance was sound and we ended up with a place that we love at a fair price in a timely manner.

If you are a first time buyer in the DC market, Jennifer is the go to person! She makes the process as easy and comforting as can be. She prepared me with the knowledge I needed to understand the technical differences and financial implications of owning co-​ops, condos and row houses. As a first time homebuyer, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience than Dwell. From my very first interactions with Jennifer Myers, to my ultimate purchase with Graham Grossman, Dwell took care of my home-​buying needs with grace, humor and professionalism. When an issue arose with the unit I wanted, Graham put in the extra effort to develop a creative solution. I can honestly attribute Graham’s perseverance to my successful purchase.

Miss Myers touts herself as someone who caters to the young new home buyer. I would venture to waiver that caters to them to a fault. I «dwell» under a unit that she owns and leases. The owner of my unit is ready to sell, so I began looking for another space. When I saw that the unit above me was for rent, I was thrilled. I immediately put in an application for it. She denied my application, stating that she had received complaints about my unit from her previous tenants.
I was shocked, considering I had never heard anything about this in the two and a half years I’d lived here. I was then counseled by my realtor that this was likely an insufficient reason to deny an application under fair housing laws. I contacted both my landlord and the property manager who both replied that there had never been complaints against me.
I went back to Miss Meyers and made an appeal for her to reconsider. I had an inkling that she might be denying my application because I was a single mother with three boys rather than a young hip couple. She declined. I did not pursue this any further because either she never received a complaint and is discriminating, or she did receive a complaint and never had the decency as a landlord to mention that there was a problem to me or the property manager or my landlord. Who wants a landlord like that? Obviously I would have done whatever it took to get along. We all have to live here.
In any case, Miss Myers, clearly so desperately wants to be seen as young and hip with her tacky picture wall and her valley girl babble on her site. She will «totally» understand your concerns doubts and cater to your needs, so long as you are young and hip. Fair housing law states prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of dwellings, but I guess that can be overlooked when owner, realtor and brokerage owner are all in the same person. No checks and balances.

We walked into our first home buying experience with little idea of what to expect. I was attracted to Dwell Residential because it is a boutique firm that specializes in a single market, Washington DC, and places great emphasis on identifying the possibilities for each client. After sending my first email to Dwell, I was contacted by Amy Wease, an agent for Dwell, within a day. I’m amazed that three months after that initial contact, we closed on our home in Petworth. I’m amazed that the very stressful, uncertain process of buying a first home went as smoothly as it did.
At our first meeting with Amy, I was dreading the part where we compared our list of «must haves» to our budget… I was afraid her immediate response would, «Well, it has been nice meeting you — good luck on your home search!» as she booked it out the door. I was amazed when that moment of our conversation actually arrived and she never flinched. Rather, throughout the experience, Amy was always honest with us — that there will be bumps in the road and this process takes time — but she was always encouraging, optimistic, and unwavering in the fact that we were going to end up in the «right» home.
Amy was always responsive to every question, home inquiry, or concern we ever put forward. She was always «on» for us. I have no idea how many clients Amy was working with and, honestly, it didn’t matter. As far as I knew, we were her only clients. We were always a priority for her throughout the process.
Dwell provided excellent recommendations for lending agents — those with which they have established, trusting relationships. The one we went with provided a seamless experience for us. Because of these relationships, Amy was able to quickly collaborate with the lender to put together the most aggressive, competitive offers as possible almost immediately. Without this rapport between Dwell and the lenders, I doubt we would have been successful in securing our home.
In sum, I would recommend Dwell Residential to any who may be thinking about buying a home in DC.

Kaye Placeres, one of Dwell’s real estate agents, helped me recently with the sale of my condo. I need to preface my review with the note that this was my first time selling real estate. I approached Kaye around 30 days before I wanted to put my condo on the market. She graciously came over to meet me on a Saturday (a day that is very busy for real estate agents) and helped me develop a room by room punch list of things I should consider upgrading and fixing before putting the house on the market. She also provided recommendations on vendors she had worked with in the past who could make said improvements/​repairs.
Kaye was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, responsive, and professional throughout the entire sales process. She has good working knowledge of not only comps of neighborhoods in MD, DC, and VA, but also from her experience knows how to best stage property to ensure your property will sell quickly. When we received several offers on our property she provided guidance and insights to assist us in determining which offer and terms would best meet our needs.
We had some post closing issues with the buyer of our property. In most situations, the legal responsibility of a real estate agent ends with closing. Unable to make progress on my own with either the new owner or settlement attorney, Kaye stepped back in to facilitate the process. She resolved in one week what I had attempted to resolve myself every day over a 3 week period.

Jennifer Myers is the best. We’ve bought and sold two properties with her and she delivered the best service out there. She searched with me for the first home for nearly a year, looking at houses many weekends. All this and I bought a really cheap house at the end (foreclosure) meaning her fee was probably worth about 1 dollar an hour at the end! No matter to her, you’d think I was buying the taj mahal. She was responsive, honest, clear, forthright and above all put my interests first. We sold that house with her a few years later, and she delivered great buyers and a great transaction. We also bought and sold our second house with her. Same thing again. We’ve recommended her to all our friends and colleagues and the universal reaction has been the same. Jennifer understands the needs of the first time homebuyer and also the needs of the seasoned pro. I haven’t worked with other agents at her Brokerage, but I’m sure that they follow in this same pattern. Give Jennifer and her team a try. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

I’d been on the «other side of the table» from Jennifer Myers during two transactions, and when it came time to sell our latest property, she was first on the list to call to represent us. In a market that is as fast-​paced as Washington, DC, it can be easy for a realtor to sit back and let the crazy market do all the work. However, Jennifer was thorough, extremely responsive, and genuinely had our best interests in mind as we reviewed the offers that flooding came in… rare qualities in a DC realtor these days. We’ve already recommended her to friends; our only regret is that she’s not licensed in Pennsylvania, where we’ll be moving to!
