I am sorry that it has been closed and you will never have the chance to try their mussels, hot chocolate, chocolate cakes, lamb burger, beers and the wonderful staff there. Everything was so on point. My uncle was so impressed and he is in the high end hotel business. He liked everything except the coffee but he doesn’t like any coffee in United States.

Great selection of Belgium beer. Their desserts are wonderful, varying from small to large for all appetites and wallets. I enjoy stopping by after dinner to get dessert. However, the service is usually lacking. I wouldn’t mind trying this place out for brunch or lunch given the reviews.

This brunch spot has been on my list for a while now. Unfortunately the first two times I’d tried to go here it was either completely packed or closed. Finally got in with my third try(it’s not a big place). With the restaurant being so small, the service was extremely quick and friendly. Ended up ordering the waffle sliders($ 18) and a beer/bloody mary combo drink($ 10ish). Sliders are good, though I thought they would be sandwiched between the waffle rather than served on top of it. No matter, excellently prepared without need of any hot sauce or syrup. The drink was an odd combo of bloody mary and saison that was better in theory than execution. Got a decent mug of latte($ 5) to finish off the meal. Glad I went here to see what the fuss was about, but I found the price point higher than it should be. If there is no wait, check it out, otherwise it’s not a big deal.

Despite it being a little bit of a drive through Downtown to reach, this is definitely my go-to brunch spot. The place has a «buy two get two» deal on mimosas, which was perfect for my girlfriend and I. I order the poached egg with salmon and asparagus with hollandaise sauce, and a potato and chive waffle. To put it lightly, it was AMAZING. I had my meal with a passion-fruit mimosa and a dark chocolate café latte. Perfection. If you go for brunch, try the potato and chive waffle with the poached egg, salmon, asparagus, and hollandaise sauce. You will not regret it.

This is an awesome brunch spot. Came here on a Saturday morning around 11am, there was no wait and we got to sit outside. We both got dark chocolate lattes that were amazing. I got the eggs royale(poached eggs on top of smoked salmon with hollandaise) on a pesto waffle and it was absolutely delicious. It also comes with a small salad. My bf got the eggs and bacon Belgian style on a potato and chives waffle. His was also good but we agreed that the pesto waffle was the winner. It was the perfect amount of food and came out to about $ 40 for both of us.

This place was decent. The mussels and pie were quite good. Didn’t get to try the chocolates, but also kind of overpriced.

I had the Beef Stew waffle. It was awesome! The music was relaxing, the service was excellent and the overall ambiance was pleasant. There was also a large selection of tasty looking pastries. We did not try because we were so full from our yummy waffles. Will definitely try dessert next time. My new favorite place!

Sunday brunch was amazing! They had buy 2 get 2 free mimosas($ 11) with multiple flavor options, and I am a sucker for free things! They could just price each one at $ 5.50, but that wouldn’t be fun. I had the Three Egg Soufflé Omelet(build your own), which comes garnished with a very small salad with creamy dressing. The omelet was a perfect temperature and veggies grilled to perfection. The restaurant itself is pretty small and tables are close together. We sat outside on a lovely afternoon and conversed with some nearby tables with their dogs along. I recommend brunch to anyone and will be going back to try lunch/dinner.

Went on a whim for brunch on a Sunday and was blown away by the food. Loved that it was so small and almost hidden. Since it was a waffle place, my roommate and I decided to try to savory waffles. AMAZING. I had the waffle sliders since I couldn’t decide which one sounded best. My roommate let the server choose the best combination and was not disappointed. Definitely try it out if you’re in the area for brunch!

I’d been here before they changed their name(used to be Locolat) and figured I’d stop by to see if they’d improved. They have not. It’s not terrible, but if you’re charging $ 13 for a breakfast sandwich, the expectations are a little higher. They upcharge for everything. They didn’t have milk or cream for the coffee. Food was nothing to write home about.

They lose one star for charging extra for syrup(at a waffle place). Coffee wasn’t great, they gave me fake cream(in the little sealed plastic containers). Food was pricey. Croissants and waffles were kind of stale. The croissant«sandwich» came with sunny side up eggs, which isn’t exactly ideal for a sandwich. Also came with a cold piece of deli ham. So yeah, kind of shocked this place has good reviews. Next time I’ll wait for a table at Tryst.

Hans Pedr’ Kaffe was an interesting find. Excellent desserts, especially the pie varieties. Good sandwiches, and solid mussels. However, it seems to be more than just a little overpriced.

After walking down the 18th street and staring at the long lines at The Diner, Tryst, etc., we decided to venture out and try this new restaurant where we walked by multiple times in the past. It is a good alternative afterall! I recommend create your own eggs and waffles. There are so many different styles of eggs and Belgian waffles to choose from! It comes with a fresh salad. Perfect combo in a hot summer afternoon. However, if you are hungry enough, try the Waffles Trio which gives a greater variety of eggs and waffles. Service was exceptionally fast during the peak hours on a Sunday brunch too. We received our Waffles Trio and Eggs Benedict + Waffle within 5 minutes after we ordered. The only problem is that their indoor seating is very limited. There was only a 4 person table available when we walked in. On a 90 degrees hot summer afternoon, my waitress tried to ask the other person who seems to be a shift manager if she could let us sit there, he responded a «no!» in a not very polite way(in front of us guests…). By the end of the brunch, I was sweating like I just got out of the gym. But for the quality of the food, I guess sitting in the heat was worth it.

This place is great. We had a less than five minute wait on a Sunday. The waitress recommended pesto scrambled eggs on a garlic waffle…(as my bf said– he doesn’t like pesto or waffle on eggs and he still ate half of mine). Soo good. We had the 2 for 1 mimosas– the raspberry and blueberry were great. The iced dark chocolate was amazing. Great outdoor seating. So glad we picked this place instead of the more crowded spots a block away.

This place was delicious! Savory waffles are sort of new for me but they were amazing. So many options to choose from and the waiter was very helpful in helping us decide what to order. I will definitely visit again soon!

Came here for a brunch with a friend who was visiting for the weekend and I was so impressed. Omar was our waiter, and he was super friendly and helpful with menu recommendations. I had a blueberry mimosa and it was delicious, albeit expensive — but they do have buy 2 get 2 free mimosas during happy hour, so if I come back I’d definitely do that. The waffles were delicious — the salad was just okay but I loved the savory waffles. The garlic waffle with lox + poached egg I would definitely get again. Absolutely recommend for a fast, delicious brunch.

We came by a little after 9 am on Memorial Day, walking our dog, and hadn’t noticed the new place, so as we were checking it out the chef/owner let us know it was opened for Weekend Brunch on the Monday holiday. She cordially invited us to sit on the patio and brought our dog a bowl of water. It’s very pet friendly just like El Tamarindo next door, so it’s probably our new favorite corner for a walk and meal combo. The menu was really interesting and we had a hard time choosing from all the different waffle flavors we’d never seen anywhere else. Ultimately I got the spicy waffle with eggs and Belgian style bacon, according to our waiters recommendation. It came out really cool, like a chopped bacon omelet but with two still liquidy(how I like them) yolks in the middle, resting on top of the waffle, with a side of salad with tomatoes and nice tangy dressing. I enjoyed every unique bite, along with a dark chocolate espresso which was exactly what it sounds like, the size of a double shot, perfectly blended and ridiculously good. My girlfriend(I’m supposed to mention somewhere in the review, that I love her to the moon, so this seems as good a place as any :)) got an omelet and a side potato-chive waffle which she really enjoyed as well. She said the omelet was the best she’d had around here. We shared a fruit berry bowl, which was probably one of the best valued fruit bowls I’ve ever ordered in this town since it was big and all blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and chopped strawberries. Also we love that they serve Vigilante coffee! It’s all we buy for home and made one awesome espresso! Hans Pedr’ Kaffe was a totally great experience, especially for a great value, and I’m glad that after living here for 9 years, there’s still new places popping up that are both awesome and affordable. Thanks for getting us in the door and we look forward to coming back!

Was visiting DC from Texas with my 7 yo daughter. We were staying with my brother who lives a couple blocks from here. My little girl wanted a waffle, and my brother recommended this place. He said they had eggs benedict over waffles. I was sold! I was expecting a DC version of Waffle House. It was definitely not that. I will not hold it against the business that it was not what we were expecting… They did have waffles, just not the coveted waffles benedict, nor the standard kind with butter and syrup. Instead they had an assortment of things I have never seen on a waffle. In my case I ended up with smoked salmon over my waffle. They were very nice and accomodating and agreed to make a waffle with strawberries and whip cream for my daughter, even though it was not on the menu. All the food I had was decent, and so was the coffee. Not my kind of place, but then I really doubt a clean cut middle aged conservative guy from Texas with his 7 year old daughter are really the target demographic for an upscale coffee/pastry/boutique breakfast/chocolate place in Adam’s Morgan. I would not steer anyone away from this place, except that it is crazy expensive, even by DC standards. The food was ok, but not worth taking out a second mortgage on my house.

I came here while visiting D.C. for brunch with my friends and boy was their stuff good! PROS: — They have so many options on their menu. I wanted to try everything but I can only try so much since I’m only in D.C. for a short amount of time. — Eggs Royale with Salmon on top of Pesto Waffle: It was very delicious and I like that the salmon was very fresh. This is my first time having a pesto flavored waffle. Definitely unique. You can never go wrong with pesto. I love pesto pasta and ciabatta pesto sandwich. I can now add pesto waffles to my running list of pesto things. The waffle is also green!!! The salad complimented the salmon-pesto waffles really well. I was glad to have some greens in my dish. I also liked how the eggs were sunny side up. It was very filling! — Eggs and Bacon on top of Pizzaco Picante Waffle — Pizzaco Picante Waffle was unique. It was red colored and tastes like the tomato sauce on the pizza with extra spice. It has a unique taste. I find it kind of hard to describe. You just got to try it. The eggs were very runny — just the way I like it. — Curiosity Cola and Rose Lemonade Sodas — I can’t get enough of this! This was my first time trying these sodas and they are sooooooooooo gooooooood! Please excuse my grammar. I’m just a little excited to talk about them! I love coke but these were even better than the canned coke. I am not sure what exactly tastes so good, maybe it’s the sugar or the syrup Fentiman’s use to make the cola but it is good. But my favorite of them all is the Rose Lemonade — the lemonade is not overpowering and it has just the right amount of tart and sweetness. It’s a great blend of flavors and who can say no to a pink colored drink! — I like that they have outdoor seating. — Service was great. Food arrived at a timely manner and waiter knew what sodas to recommend us. The Okay: — Strawberry Pomegranate Chocolate — The name and the color of the chocolate left me mouthwatering for one of these fine pieces of chocolate. It’s a deep red color with a hint of dark chocolate swirl. Taste wise it was alright. I tasted more dark chocolate than strawberry or pomegranate flavor. I felt like they could have added more pomegranate or strawberry juice to the chocolate. I am sorry to say but Brookside pomegranate chocolate pieces tasted better and packed a punch in the pomegranate flavor department. In case you are wondering what I am talking about:
CON: I must say after having the Curiosity Cola & Rose Lemonade, the next two drinks were disappointing. I got these two to go because I wanted to try all the flavors and I was intrigued by their names. — The Dandelion & Burdock — this tasted kind of like medicine — bleh. But I guess there are people who like it but it was definitely not something I’d like to have again. — Ginger Beer — I thought this was going to be a remake of Ginger Ale because I love Ginger Ale and this was disappointing. The ginger was so overwhelming that it burned my throat a little trying to chug this down. This drink reminded me of my mom’s Asian ginger candies she likes from the store. To give you a better idea of what I am talking about, these are the candies I am referring to: Despite the 2 disappointing sodas, I still love this place. I will definitely come back.

So far it’s pretty much the same café with the same people and food like l’ocolat had. It has been under new management since November but this past weekend was the first time I have eaten here since it has changed names. The weather was and is getting more perfect to eat here. I had a little panini, a Perrier, and a side of asparagus here after the gym this past Saturday. It was fun watching all the people walk by and critique their shoes in broken Italian while we discussed domestic political issues in English. ‘Mi piacinno delle scarpe azzurre per questa primavera.’ ‘Have you heard about those new stun cuffs?’ ‘Era la moda in 1974.’ ‘I love Jobani even if it is GMO’ And on and on and on till we drove everybody away :)… Kidding. Mostly.
