Hillcrest Recreation Center

I can’t really review the entire facility since I utilize so little. However, it’s usually kept clean, there seem to be all sorts of activities for children & adults alike and there’s parking — which is always in demand in DC. I can say that the free Zumba classes on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 7pm are pretty awesome. You’ll get a good workout and fun in the process. Bring a mat on Thursdays — the 2^nd half of the class is on the floor. Come on by!

I woke up at 7:00 am all prepared to go for a walk. When I checked
, the readings were already 78ºF and 89% humidity. I clicked the lock screen button and rolled over.
What the what? Here comes Mara G. into my childhood bedroom (I spent the night at her house) talking about «Come on! Get your shoes on! We’re going for a walk now before it gets too hot!» Like I said… what the what? Before? It gets too hot? Honey, it is already too hot in my book. But I got on up, brushed my teeth and put my fitness shoes on.
The walk to Hillcrest Rec Ctr was nearly one mile. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived because it was one of DC’s newer rec ctrs. A huge, new, redone, modernized center! The track was odd-​shaped, but nice. I say odd-​shaped because it dead-​ends at the playground. You have to either walk around the playground or walk up on a grassy knoll for a continuous «track» style walk but that was not a deal breaker for me. This place has a putting green, several sets of swings, slides, and see-​saws. It also has two tennis courts and a horseshoe pit. Wow!
Inside the building, there were plenty of clean restrooms, a gym, a weight room, and meeting spaces. I truly was pleasantly surprised! I am a huge fan of this nearby oasis in what is already a quiet neighborhood. I’m a fan. Oh, why only four stars? Well it doesn’t open until 10am on Saturday. Other than that, I am a huge fan!

Early morning walkers, civic association meetings, nice sized gym, tennis courts, dance classes, and much more! A very nice rec. center in a quiet residential neighborhood. The grounds are clean and well kept. I really enjoy Hillcrest Recreation Center.
