I come here after many late nights at Town or Nellies. The pizza comes in two kinds and honestly I’m okay with it. The pizza is probably a gift from God himself after a long night in a hot club or bar. The owners are super nice and even hung up one of my photos from Easter on their cork board and they point it out every time I come back to visit like a proud parent! Simple. Cheap. Easy. Giant slices that fill you up.

They make MAD money Friday and Saturday nights. So many late night goers, the line never ends. Quick, cheap and goood. Not out of this world pizza, butttttt definitely does the trick after a night out. Cost $ 5 for a jumbo slice(cheese or pepperoni), $ 20 for a box. Friendly customer service as well, only unfriendly if you’re unruly. Angelina doesn’t have time to play games.

Rather expensive and only two options available. They clearly cater to people who don’t really care about quality. But I guess that is to be expected given the location.

Every time I come here, Angelina gives me a big hug and asks about my life. She is so sweet and genuinely nice. But don’t fuck with her or her customers. She can be fierce about her rules or dealing with unruly drunk people. Great pizza when you’re drunk and its late at night. GAYPIZZAFORLIFE???

The best jumbo slice on U St. Mom makes everyone feel welcome while also laying down the law.

Great pizza late at night and I’d argue the best Jumbo Slice style pizza place on U street. Each slice is around 4 bucks(last time I was there a couple months ago) and is a delicious slice of cheesy, carb loaded awesomeness. Great for soaking up alcohol before or after you’ve started the night. I believe I’ve seen the owner’s wife there each time and she is friendly considering how late night U street people can be. It is located on the corner right near a club so your best bet is to get here a little before 2AM to avoid any major lines but at the same time the wait is never too long the few times I’ve had to wait.

The morning after eating this pizza, I woke up to a venmo charge from my friend titled«trash pizza.» This couldn’t have been a more accurate description of what we experienced. This spot is definitely open later than anything other food joint. That should be the only reason you even consider coming here. Because being demanded to fork over $ 5 cash only for a crappy slice of cheese or pepperoni pizza is not exactly a deal. If you are looking to hang with the Nellie’s crowd after closing, you will also find that here. I would say that is the #1 reason to stop by — the parking lot is swarming with people and everyone is jazzed up. 1 star because I will never forgive myself for eating my pizza on a dirty curb next to a dumpster, and I will never forget how guilty I felt the morning after doing so.

First time here. I came here because of the Unilocal rating so I was expecting out of this world pizza. The pizza wasn’t amazing but it was pretty good. The slice is big and all slices are $ 5. The lady is very warm and friendly. I was starving so I enjoyed the pizza but my husband didn’t care too much for it. She was nice enough to add pepperoni to the spinach and mushroom pizza for no additional charge. Great customer service!

This place is absolutely amazing. Their service is extremely quick and the pizza is absolutely tasty. Angelina and her husband are so friendly and great. They’re a neighborhood favorite!

We’ve been going there since it opened… after the bar or after a party — on the way home — it’s always good. Friendly, hometown greetings every time we visit. And… the pizza is good, always hot and fresh out of the oven. We never go past, without stopping in for a slice. Thanks Angelina and family for welcoming us and keeping us fed on our visits to DC!

Let me just start by saying that Jumbo Slice Pizza is a good small town type of pizza store. The owner seems very friends with her customer and a few of them seemed to be in a first name basis with her. The general atmosphere was that of a store that all the people in the neighbourhood know and love. However, I am not from that neighbourhood. I went to party with some friends in the 9:30 club and we were hungry after a while so we went here. I had drank a bit, but I wasn´t drunk enough to think the jumbo slice I ordered was good. I have to admit it was a huge pepperoni pizza slice for $ 5 however it just was not good. The pizza came on a paper plate, it was very greasy and there wasn´t enough pepperoni on it. I´m sorry to say I didn´t even finish the slice. This seems like a very good place to the people that know and love it, but coming from an outsider´s eyes, it isn´t as good as other pizza joints.

One late Friday night I was visiting some friends in DC and they led me(I mean carried me because I was that drunk) to Angelina’s Pizza. Thanks to my snapchat story, I remember the entire experience– in chronological order. First: We arrive just in time to beat the rush because the bars hadn’t closed yet. My friend, a local, was greeted(literally) with open arms from Angelina. In fact, Angelina had a pie waiting for him because she knew he would be there around 3am. Second: We pay. Angelina hugs us again and hands over the pie. This is the part I remember without snapchat– the slices are hugeeeeee, easily the size of the average person’s face. Third: I discovered this seasoning she keeps on the counter. I poured it all over my pizza and nearly fainted– partly because I was hammered and partly from the delictable, greasy, cheesy, and pepporoni-y taste. Foodgasm. But then I needed water BAD so Angelina handed me and my friends free waters! She’s a proven mind reader. Fourth: I think I ate a third of the pie. The next morning I actually woke up with 0 hangover because the pizza absorbed all of the alcohol back from my blood. Yes– it has been proven that Angelina’s pizza cures hangover. Fifth: We hung out at Angelina’s for a solid 45 minutes until the über surcharge went down. I have many pictures of the experience. Angelina was very happy to have us there. I can’t wait to go back.

Also affectionately known as «Gay Pizza,» this place always hits the spot. It’s only open on Fridays and Saturdays and caters almost exclusively to the late night crowd. With that said, it’s amazing pizza — easily the best jumbo slice in town and in contention for the best pizza, period. Trust me, your tolerance for regular, grease-soaked jumbo slice will disappear after eating here. Angelina is indeed a gem. I discovered her warm personality and delicious pizza for the first time when she and her husband had a shop right off of Dupont Circle a few years ago. They relocated to this little spot adjacent to Town sometime around 2011 or early 2012. As the center of gay nightlife in the city shifted east, they did as well. It’s called«Gay Pizza» for a reason. During peak hours on Friday and Saturday, you can bet that a majority of the customers had emptied out of Nellie’s or Town at some point in the night. As more bars and clubs sprout up on the eastern edge of U Street and Shaw, however, the crowd seems to be getting a little more diverse. My only complaint is that they’re only open on Friday and Saturday nights. I’d definitely add this to my rotation of go-to takeout places during the week.

This is not a fancy restaurant. It’s a pizza joint where you get a massive slice of pizza and a warm-hearted woman serving you food who reminds me of Debbie from QAF if anyone remembers that show. The negative reviews about the staff being rude? When it’s the one woman there it would take quite a rude and drunk customer to make her ever be mean-spirited to you. I come here because it really is a mom and pop restaurant that you’d want to see in DC or even NYC for that matter. Cheap food. Large quantity of food. And a classic place to have in the neighborhood.

This place serves hot, greasy, delicious jumbo slices(literally a fourth of a pizza) for $ 5. The owner is really friendly and personable and seems to be well established in the neighborhood. I could see myself coming here after a show at the Black Cat.

When I first saw this place from the outside, I thought«sketchy little pizza place, probably where everyone goes at 3am after the club.» Well, it IS where the U Street crowd goes at 3am. When I actually got in and ordered a slice – the line was about 20 minutes long, but understandable — I was floored, in a good way. The simple slice of cheese actually took me back to vacation in Napoli; I was beyond pleasantly surprised and have actually recommended this place to others. The crust is thin, foldable, and truly napolitano style. Don’t expect anything fancy, now. This is strictly a paper plate kind of place, but you can’t beat the quality of the pizza, and certainly not the price! This is literally the best pizza I’ve ever had in the United States. I’ll be back!

The rating is based on being hungry and heading there after a concert at the 9:30 Club. The pizza is pretty cheap at $ 5 for a huge slice of pepperoni or cheese and tasted fresh. It wasn’t amazing, but solid pizza that was better than I expected with a tasty sauce and the right amount of cheese. No frills here, your slice comes on a paper plate. They were really friendly but napkins weren’t around anyplace which was a little weird. You might see some ambience here, one really drunk girl kept trying to hug the cashier.

Cheese Pizza(5⁄5 NOMs). Late night eats. I love Angelina! She is extremly friendly and will always greet you with a smile and a hug. Every time I see her she greets me «ITSBORIS» yell and gives me a hug. You know that is love! There is just something about pizza after a night of clubbing and drinking you can not resist. That is pretty jumbo size slice. That is one super size cheesy thing pizza. You got to stop by for some late snack and meet Angelina.
