I love this place! I was lucky enough to visit DC recently when the weather was abnormally warm and this was the perfect little café to eat breakfast at outside. It is a very cute little French café that makes everything super fresh with real ingredients. The croissant egg sandwiches and omelettes were amazing and they had really great macaroons and iced cappuccinos. It is a small place so it does get crowded and busy but everyone should try it out!

Great little café. Gets very busy on the weekends but the croissant sandwiches are to die for as are the super large cappuccinos and Americanos. service is good, though I will say that the staff sometimes ruins the ambience a bit with really loud talking in Spanish behind the counter.

As a Hill staffer on the House side, I always appreciate the opportunity to venture off campus for lunch. Le Bön Café, a cute little French place, is definitely one of the better lunch options that we have over here; I’ve been going there since my intern days, and it still measures up. The good: Very tasty food and excellent coffee. Their quiche is delicious(they rotate the type every day), and I’ve enjoyed the sandwiches and soups that I’ve tried, too. I have yet to try the selection of pastries, but they look phenomenal. The ambiance is also lovely – it’s very bright and sunny, and it’s a nice place to sit and eat in if you have time. The not-so-good: The service tends to be on the slower side since they don’t have that many employees, so expect to stand in line for a bit, especially during peak hours. Also, the portion sizes are decidedly European – which is(probably) just what we obese Americans need and deserve, but should be mentioned in case you walk in there and you’re starving. All in all, though, I highly recommend this spot!

It’s a nice little French café. I came in for lunch around 1pm and ordered the beef sandwich, which was quite good. And for an overall cost of $ 10, the price is right. The location is convenient, within minutes of the Jefferson building. The seating is nothing spectacular(think of a typical Chinese takeout), but there is some outdoor seating. And besides, I saw a bunch of people in suits eating here, so it can’t be that bad right?

Cute place by the Capitol, with outdoor seating on quiet street. Yummy food. Have only had the fruit crisp with yogurt, but it was so good, I came two days in a row for it while on vacation. Seems like the food is very fresh, cooked on the premises. Nice selection of breakfast items, from French toast to quiche to baked goods. Needed to give the staff my food order twice, on both days, but they were friendly and accommodating. I recommend this café!

Le Bön café is a nice little restaurant right across from the Library of Congress and very close to Capitol Hill. It’s very conveniently located near the Capitol South metro station. The inside is a bit small but they have outside seating during the summer and during nice weather days. The service is always up to par– nice and the food is always done within a reasonable time. I’ve tried some of the salads and the sandwiches. I’m a fan of the grilled chicken that is served with a potato salad as a side. They sell natural juices, I’m a sucker for their freshly squeezed Orange juice. Their prices are very reasonable– sandwiches are about $ 7.50 and their salads range from $ 8 to $ 10. They also sell very good coffee and macaroons.

Deliocious salad with croutons, goat cheese and prune jam. Amazing waffles with fresh fruit on top. I was sitting outside on a cute small blue table and felt like being in Paris. The service was quick and the personnel were friendly. I really enjoyed my saturday lunch! Certainly going again!

Very friendly staff. There was a miscommunication with my order, but it was easily and professionally resolved. I ordered a tuna sandwich, which was very different, but delicious. Instead of the traditional sweet tuna salad, their recipe included capers, olives, and peppers.

It looks really attractive from outside, especially during the spring and summer. I ordered waffle and latte. It is good and the service is quick. It is not fancy, but when I came into the café, they greeted me warmly. It is a good place for friends to sit and chat for a while. They also provide wifi and it is closed to the Capital.

Le Bön is a top tier little joint across from the LOC on Capitol Hill. The rustic French café reminds me of my many excursions in Paris. Reminds me of any Parisian spot, the coffee, the ambience, the pastries, even the cute college students well versed in French. The tea is what I came for, a top tier experience indeed. They brew their own and it is no joke. Seating is limited but such is life in the district(and Paris). If you’re looking to rip some cigs, stick your nose in a book, and relax and drink to your content Le Bön is a place for you.

This place is a little underrated. I was attracted to this place because it was beautiful out and they have some outdoor seating. I just wanted something light and settled on the chicken and goat cheese salad. It was great. They grilled the chicken fresh, which is appreciated and not always the case at many places. The dressing was fantastic and the rest of the ingredients worked well together. Really hit the spot. I wouldn’t wait in a line for a seat or anything but it was good for a quick, light meal.

Lovely café. The owner, Sandra, is super sweet and the food is always great. I love that they have multiple vegetarian options as well — the grilled vegetable panini is my favorite. There isn’t a ton of seating space if you arrive at peak lunch hours, so I usually grab my lunch to go. They serve Illy coffee and their coffee drinks look wonderful too, although I have yet to try them. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for lunch.

One my favorite places to have breakfast and chill. Small place to have great food with ambiance of a Parisian café. I love just going to read the paper and have a latte or catch up on work on the computer with eggs bacon and side of fresh fruit. It is a great place to do both. Staff is great and patrons are friendly. The tables are fairly communal because is small space, but it works. I’ll keep coming back. And everyone I brings likes it.

More like 3.5 but Unilocal doesn’t give that option so I’m being generous. Went in for a caffeine fix and a quick snack on a Sunday afternoon and it was mildly busy-maybe 3 – 5 people in the small vestibule of a shop and a few outside. They serve illy espresso which I appreciate as a coffee snob. We ended up getting a double Americano and an iced latte with milk and vanilla flavor(different as night and day) and they got both perfect. Took a little longer than I would have expected considering it wasn’t particularly busy but there were only 2 people working in the whole shop. Ordered macaroons and croissants as well for a baby sugar fix and both were pretty good. Not the best you can get in the city, but for right around the corner with a sweet tooth-a good choice. Where I was expecting more was in how long it took to grab 2 coffees and some macaroons from under the counter, and the pastry selection wasn’t the largest to begin with. A good amount of coffee cakes were also just sitting on the counter uncovered so random people could just pick them up, sneeze on them, etc. Didn’t seem the most sanitary. I wouldn’t order anything that wasn’t under a glass countertop but that’s me.

The best iced chai tea besides San Francisco cafés. The French toast was tasty but the fruit was too ripe for my taste. Pasties are awesome. Good place to sit out for coffee with the dogs

Chose this place because it was near where we were touring, and we were STARVING and it was HOT, so we needed to eat, inside, ASAP. We had two pretty good sandwiches — turkey and tuna — which took probably longer than necessary to get, but the bread and all ingredients seemed fresh. Prices are a bit high for an only average café, but, considering I thought I was going to faint from heat and hunger about 10mins. before, I was pleased with my lunch.

This place is a joke. It looked cute, the pastries looked promising. I ordered breakfast including a croissant. 20 minutes later, I inquired about the food, found out that they had never bother to tell the cook to make it(they just took our money and stared at the wall I guess). I asked for the croissant that had been sitting on the counter, THEN they asked if it should be warmed up Ok We wanted to leave and asked for our money back. They promised they would get it out quickly. Another mistake. They microwaved a ham sandwich with a pile of cheese on top and still cold ham inside. Not broiled, no bechamel, nothing a true croque monsieur should have. The waffle was barely cooked, corn syrup instead of real maple. Even worse? The water dispenser had algae in it! Never an apology from clearly useless staff. Unsurprisingly, they have been suspended for health code violations:

Le Bön Café is definitely not a 5 star restaurant, but it is very classic DC which makes it feel like home. It’s a small café that is supposed to be French really close to the US Capitol, which makes it great for people watching as Senators and other VIPs walk by. People love the French toast, but I think it is just okay. I always get the quiche(real men DO eat quiche), a chocolate chip muffin, and a chai. Perfect way to start my morning. The downsides: The food is just average and the seating inside is cramped, but if you are visiting the US Capitol in the morning, this café is a great place to start your day.
