Logan Circle House Tour – Starting Studio Theatre

The Logan Circle House Tour has been ongoing annual event for 35 years.
The success of any house tour will obviously depend on the participants. The 12.12.12 tour was phantasmagoric experience. Everything I enjoy about Washington D.C. was condensed into several unique residential experiences.
History: Who’d of thought that the United States Daughters of 1812 Museum would be part of the tour. I’ve passed the Rhode Island Ave for 15 years and the Victorian home blended into many a drunken hazes. Now as an adult, history is the new cool.
Architecture: Who’d have thought of having a glass walkout/​skywalk/​catwalk inside your home? Hidden balconies, original designs and plenty of blood, sweat and tears appeared to have been poured into these beautiful home. Not all of the homes were great– but let’s stay focused on the positive.
Innovation and Learning: The 12.12.12 tour included one green home that practically took itself off the grid. There were so many energy efficient and environmentally friendly additions to the home that it made me take pause and reflect on my impact of the environment. I’m not there yet, but I was inspired.
Art: We are blessed to have some many creative spirits in the Washington, D.C. area. There were so many museum quality works of art on the walls of so many residences. Some of the art was produced by the residents themselves and, in one instance, you essentially exited through a working studio/​gift shop. All types of art was represented along the tour and I was blown away by the talent of our Washingtonians.
This is my second year attending the LCHT and this annual event is on track to becoming one of my annual holiday traditions.
