Meridian At Mount Vernon Triangle

As many other reviewers have stated the building is basically a luxury dorm room. A lot of the residents in the building are home all day and they get restless at night. Someone manages to wake me up at least every seven to ten days. The Police are called into the building all the time for loud parties and so on. I would move out tomorrow if I could. It is a real shame as the building has a great location and good amenities however when you cannot sleep that really ruins the whole thing. I mean the noise to give you an example, on a Thursday at 4 AM, an apartment over 50 feet from mine playing loud music. I mean it is not even the weekend!!! Constant loud parties, constant drunk behavior like screaming in the hallways, residents bringing groups of drunk rowdy people 25 – 50 people in their apartments, 2 AM doors slammed, 2 AM drunk conversations on cell phones in the hallway, and so on. You get the idea. On holidays things get extreme, I mean people vomiting in public spaces, empty red cups and cheap beer cans in public spaces thrown everywhere. The building is smoke free however large groups of smokers congregate at the entrance on weekends like it is a nightclub.

It used to be great, but unfortunately the building has become a glorified College Dorm with students having loud parties all the time. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this building. I will move out as soon as my lease is up.

This is a poorly managed building… I wouldn’t recommend living here. The apartment complex is now filled with students and out of control behavior. The management group is not particularly careful about choosing its residents and every weekend, we have to deal with vomit in the elevators, empty bottles of beer in the hall, and loud parties. Even when we’ve complained numerous times, the Meridian has done nothing to resolve these issues. We’ll be leaving as soon as we can. If you are looking for a place to live, I recommend looking elsewhere.

I must admit when I’m wrong. The management at Meridian has taken very positive steps to secure the building and ensure all residents have access to the roof. Kudos to the Meridian

Tom B. (7÷9÷2015), sadly, has it nailed. Is it a nice building? Yes. It’s stunning. But on the weekends it turns into a drunken frat party, which is very sad. It is loud (and the walls are thin), and drunks are everywhere. As I write this I can hear screaming drunks a) on the rooftop (which supposedly closes at 11:00 — I’m typing this at 11:23) and b) out in the hallway (they are actually two apartments away with multiple doors closed — i.e., not in the hallway. But they are drowning out my TV). Let’s note that there IS a noise provision in the lease (this would be «Exhibit A to Lease — Apartment Rules and Regulations). It’s just completely ignored.
Want to relive your college days? Miss the aroma of cheap beer and puke? This is the place for you. Really sad. If you’re an adult, look somewhere else. I wish I had.

My girlfriend and I have lived here for 4 months now and I urge you not to make the same mistake. The management and office staff are terrible. When my girlfriend and I moved here I was between jobs and with just her job we were just short of the required amount needed to not have to put down an additional security deposit. I asked if my current income would count because I had not received a pay stub from my new job here in DC and they advised it would not. This wasn’t an issue of income. This was an issue of simply moving from one job to the next and not having any documentation until I had moved. Once I arrived in DC I provided the documentation and they advised we were required to pay $ 150 to get out security deposit back. That’s $ 150 to get our own money back. Management was unwilling to waive the fee or work with us at all. Not to mention every single time you go to the office and ask for a manager there is never one available.
More recently my plastic fob was taken and they advised it was $ 100 to replace. I was never given an opportunity to speak with a manager. If the manager is in, you will never see him as he or she hides behind a wall. I was then advised that on top of the $ 100 for the fob it was going to be an additional $ 10 to get a new mail key. I again asked for a manager and was told I was not able to speak with them.
Please do not be fooled by the «concierge» service. I usually arrive home between 7 and 9 pm and there is never anyone at the desk. On a regular basis I have to wait 15 – 20 minutes for the on duty concierge to come back. Recently I had to go to the building next door (the «new» phase) to see if I could locate another concierge. The person at that desk had to call to see where they were. The concierge in my building finally came back after about 45 minutes.
The only good thing about this building is that there is a great dog walker who walks many of the dogs in the building. (This dog walker is in no way affiliated with the Meridian).

For a grad student in major debt, is this what luxury feels like?! There was a listing on AirBnB and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. The price was decent as well. We had 4 people stay at this location. There was a pull out couch, a king sized bed, and a regular comfy couch.
PROS:

— Grocery store across the street
— few blocks down from local restaurants
CONS:
— $ 11 per day parking garage below the establishment

I love the Meridian At Mount Vernon Triangle’s location and floorplans. While the pool is a mere bathtub, I’ve found the amenities to be comfortable. The rent is through the roof (I paid $ 2,345/month inclusive of one parking space for a one bedroom with balcony), however the location is amazing. I saw no bugs of any kind and management was prompt, courteous and efficient. The community had too few resident events (when compared to the Bozzuto communite I’ve lived in), although I found plenty of things to occupy myself with within walking distance.

Pros: Clean, Nice amenities
Cons: Management acts like it is their sworn duty to never miss an opportunity to screw you over, signed lease documents sometimes get shredded inadvertently requiring them to be remade, package delivery emails sometimes get sent to previous tenants, the floor plan you apply for may not be the one that you receive, thousands of dollars of duplicate rent may be slipped into your bill, and they enter apartments without any notice.
Overall: It’s a great place to live if you have masochistic tendencies and hate your money. Also the pool’s nice when it’s open.

I find that reviews for apartment buildings tend to come from disgruntled tenants, so I thought I would weigh-​in. This is my second apartment in DC the nicest. The apartments are spacious and I like the floor to ceiling windows, and amenities are great. It’s only half a block from the grocery store and a capital bikeshare docking station, and the area is getting more restaurants all the time.
It’s no more expensive than any other luxury building in Washington.

From top to bottom, the most unprofessional run building you can live in. Add the immature tenants and I would run the other way.

I’d definitely live here again. Both leasing office and front desk staff are great and incredibly friendly and helpful. We’ve lived at three other buildings throughout the city and nowhere else were they as nice as here, especially not at the Meridian over on Mass Ave. The blond girl at the front desk seems to know everyone by name and their apartment number. I would walk past the front desk on my way out and she would call after me that I had a package and whether I wanted to pick it up. No idea how that’s even possible seeing how many people live in this building.
Units in this building are generic but nice. As far as I know the building has only been open for two years so everything is still in very good condition. The elevators allow you to get up and downstairs really quickly and you don’t wait as long as you would at comparable buildings.
I was mildly annoyed when the construction next door limited the parking spot availability but that’s about it.
The gym in this building is well equipped with dumbbells up to 65 lbs, where other apartment buildings top out at 50 lbs and a nice selection of kettle bells, a scott bench machine etc.
Free coffee from three different kinds of beans and a variety of organic teas in the lobby are an added bonus.
Only drawbacks were the small outdoor/​pool area that closes as early as 9pm and gets insanely crowded on weekends and no bbqs. The situation will probably be remedied once phase 2 next door opens and a bridge will connect the two outdoor areas.

Before signing a lease at this apartment with my roommate, they told us parking was $ 195 for the first car and $ 95 for an additional car. We only needed one car then, but they told us that we can always add the second car later for that price.
Several months later, I needed that second parking spot. I went to request it, and the «property manager» came out with a contract stating a $ 250 for a parking spot. I disagreed, repeating to him what we were told during the signing of the lease. He responded that their parking prices were always the same, $ 195/​month for the first parking spot and $ 250/​month for a second spot. This was obviously an outright lie.
I expressed to him that not only is $ 250 for a parking spot in a building such as this in an area such as this exorbitant and absurd, and not only was he breaching his company’s oral contract as clearly communicated to both my roommate and I, but he was actually trying to abuse his dominant bargaining position, knowing that I already live in the apartment and would have nowhere else to park. Some scummish behavior right there.
I’ve had past issues with Meridian before (at Gallery Place) and I can tell you that, these people, whoever is up top and giving orders must be dirtbags because they really do business like a bunch of dirtbags. They have contracts strategically designed to charge you unreasonable fees for every imaginable thing, and they recite one thing and then deny it later. They need to realize that, every time they say something orally made out to be a condition on which a potential tenant bases his decision, it is binding. Every time they piss someone off with their unscrupulous tactics, thinking they’re wittily making use of the law to their advantage, they’re actually breaking the law. I think when something like this happens people just accept it and move on.
Conclusion — The building and apartment itself are fine but their way of doing business is utterly scummish. The apartments are also way overpriced for the area which is really in the middle of nowhere. All these apartments in the area are trying to milk hard-​working professionals and students out of every cent they can get — let’s be clear, the area is in in the middle of nowhere, barren with crime and homeless shelters and drug rehab centers.

We love living here. We thoroughly investigated the options in the neighborhood and this one is definitely the best– hard wood floors, beautiful kitchens, huge balconies, and it’s a very friendly atmosphere. Management has always been responsive, our neighbors have been quiet and courteous, and they have shopping carts and other carts that just make life easier. The gym is also great. They got a new coffee machine that is great. It’s a great option for pet owners. The demographic is very mixed, my floor has been really really quiet at all times and the crowd I’ve noticed has been all in their 30’s and above (people my parents’ ages) but it probably depends on the floor.
Downsides: construction. needing to use a key to get up in the elevator.

This place is way over priced. There is supposedly a 24 hour concierge but NOONE IS EVER THERE! Thus it’s a struggle just to pick up a package. When somebody IS at the front desk, they are completely useless. I asked the concierge to call me a cab one night during a blizzard and she told me just to go on the street to find out. Luckily it took just a little over 5 minutes for me to get one. Building is cheaply made which means it’s very noisy. I can hear my neighbor’s conversations. It’s a young crowd and it feels like a dorm. You need to get permission to have people stay over and passes for guests to go up to the roof. I’m counting down the days until my lease is up

This is a good, well-​managed building. I’ll hit the negatives first, as that’s what people come to Unilocal for (crowdsourcing, yay!):
* Cost – it’s expensive, but that’s Washington. It’s comparable to everything else around here, and to my mind, far nicer than Yale West Apartments or what I imagine Gables to be.
* Noise – I’m on the top floor so have nobody above me (by design) and am so far blessed with quiet neighbors on either side. There are a few units I pass in the hall that seem pretty loud. I’d guess the average tenant age is under 30, and some douchebags are just loud. But this is par for the DC course, and no worse than any other building
Pros:
* All staff, from leasing agent (Sarah gets kudos) to front desk are quite pleasant
* Dog-​friendly – dogs up to 80lbs are allowed, which is extremely rare. Everyone is pro-​dog (as am I), and while the $ 400 non-​ref pet deposit and $ 50/​month pet rent annoy me, they’re right on point with the competition
* Parking – $ 195/​mo sucks, and you can’t get a reserved spot, but again, that’s on point with the competition, and while the building is, I’m told, 97% leased, I’ve never had to go to the 3^rd level of parking
* Gym – the first-​floor gym is quite doable for a quick cardio fix (incl. built-​in TVs), plus a rack of free weights, kettlebells, a few mats, med balls, and about 10 machines. It’s not a workout mecca, and it gets crowded at the typical times, but it’s nice to have in a pinch (and, I think, open ²⁴⁄₇)
* Free coffee – that poor lobby machine suffers from endless use and is, as one person noted, out of order about once/​week. But you can select your own coffee, it’s decent tasting, and if you save $ 5/​day, that helps ameliorate the $ 245/​month for parking/​pet rent – slooooowly, so drink up!
* Club room – Right off the elevator on the top floor, this room is really quite nice, has free wi-​fi, decent hours, and is a good place to escape for work-​from-​home types. Occasionally it’s overrun with loud college students who think their projects must be broadcast to the universe, but all in all not bad.
* Pool/​deck: VERY small, both of them, but nice views of the capitol and Wash Mon; the hours are a bit restrictive, however
All in all, I have been pleased with living here. It’s expensive, but that’s Washington. At about a year old, the building is still in good shape, the people are pretty friendly, and the location is good (not amazing, but good).

Great location, responsive staff and maintenance is wonderful.

I moved here in November and it’s really been a difficult time here with constant noise disturbances that wake me up on Fridays and Saturdays at around 2:30, just like clockwork. There hasn’t been one weekend where I haven’t been woken up due to drunk people talking at the top of their lungs in the hall or crazy rager parties with music thumping like I’m trying to sleep right outside the club. I’ve reported this four different times (other times I just put in my earplugs and luckily fell asleep) which lead to continuous calls down to the front desk and complaining to the management. Only to see it continue. The management has put letters under residents’ doors but it’s clear that this issue is not getting resolved any time soon. It’s very frustrating. To make matters worse, I work on the weekends for my job and this has really affected my work. I’ve done apartment/​condo living in DC for 14 years now and I’ve never had something like this happen. In fairness, the facilities are nice and new but overall all these noise and sleep issues have overshadowed any positive aspects of this living facility.

Gorgeous new property, spacious apartments, high end finishes… what a find!

Moved into property in early April. Great location (across from 24 hr Safeway)… close to metro, restaurants and easy access around the city. Property is beautiful with lots of space. Staff is great.
