I have recently relocated from Philly and was looking for someone to cut my hair. I have found my new barber in Andre.

One of the best haircut and beard trims that I’ve ever experienced! Alice took care of everything with minimal explanation from me because this is the longest my hair has ever been. Total professional in every way. She can also carry on a conversation and made the whole experience seem flawless. After my appointment was over the owner talked to me and was also very professional. A top notch barbershop on every way!

made a reservation here based on a recommendation from a friend. Daniel Haile, a real gentleman, gave me the closest shave i have ever received without a single nick or making my sensitive skin turn red. Also styled my hair and taught me how to say thank you in Ethiopean. Truly a pro! I look forward to coming back here.

Had a reservation here first thing Monday morning 15 Feb, walked down in the snow only to find the place was closed. I can understand deciding to close because of the weather but they didn’t bother to inform their clients. I even got a text message reminding me of the appointment an hour before hand. This review doesn’t reflect their hair cutting as I never had a chance to get my hair cut, but the very poor customer service.

They take their time and ensure you are satisfied with the job they’ve done. My barber is Mr. Daniel Haile and he does an awesome job. I cannot speak for the other stylist/​barbers, but I am sure any would meet the same standards demonstrated by Daniel.

Oh boy. It’s hard to even know where to start. This experience got very awkward. They have excellent barbers but some serious in-​house professionalism issues to work out before I go back.
I made an appointment for an afternoon haircut through their online booking system, which is run by Whittle, a third-​party provider. About an hour or two before the appointment the owner (Michael Craig) called me and said he had to cancel because he needed to run out and take care of something. No details provided but I’m not nosy. He offered to reschedule me for later in the week but that wasn’t possible for me. He then offered to stay and do the appointment but I understand life emergencies happen and told him to go. That’s when he said he’d fit me in with another barber, the one who cuts his hair, Paul Davis. Cool.
I got there a few minutes early. At the time of the appointment, Mr. Davis was still cutting someone else’s hair. I took the opportunity to get my shoes shined while I waited. The shine guy did a great job but $ 10 is just too steep for a shoe shine.
Then Mr. Davis went to check on his appointment book and realized that Mr. Craig had penciled me in. Mr. Craig had neglected to tell him that he wrote me in. Mr. Davis was *not* happy about this as he had another appointment coming in and he allowed himself to run late with the previous client because he had no idea I was there for him. But Mr. Davis rolled with it and sat me down.
Now, I will say this: Paul Davis can seriously cut hair. He gave me an excellent haircut. He also spent a long time telling me about how he’s an instructor, and how his cuts were featured on GQ. That’s great, but I just wanted my hair cut. Which he did! And did well. Except he gave me an express haircut, not the full haircut I paid for, so I had to contact Whittle the next day and get the difference reimbursed.
During the hair cut Mr. Davis also complained about how Mr. Craig didn’t tell him about my appointment. He kept saying how at their next staff meeting he was going to bring it up because that’s not how he operates. When I mentioned I had originally made my appointment through their new online system he said that’s fine for new clients but he doesn’t like online booking because that means he has to wait a few days to get his money and he can’t have that. His complaints sounded legitimate but it’s very awkward to share them with a customer. But I’m not one to argue with the man holding a sharp, pointy object near my head.
Tl;dr is you can get a great haircut at a slightly inflated price (by DC standards I mean) but you may be subject to an awkward experience. And the online system pisses off at least one barber. But they don’t push products on you so that’s nice.

First straight razor shave, and they set the bar high! Friendly atmosphere, meticulous shave, and relaxing experience. Visiting from out of town, but will definitely be back when I’m back in DC!

If you are heading from the direction of Shady Grove station at Farragut North just keep walking towards the front of the train station. The entrance that is at the front of the station is the one you take. I’m thinking this will be really great in the winter when it gets really cold because you don’t actually go outside at all. Right after you exit the metro station area Micheal Craig’s men’s grooming is just to the left. If you reach the street level you have gone too far.
Inside you will find a comfortable barbershop filled with friendly and professional staff. It’s a classic spot but perfect for a shoe shine, shave or cut.
My Barber: please go see Andre. He’s the new Barber and he is Fantastic! Aside from him liking the Cowboys. (Hey I guess everyone has there flaws.) He’s actually a really nice guy. He makes sure he cuts your hair the way you like it. I’ve watched him cut a number of hair types and textures and he does a great job. he is friendly and professional and will have you looking and feeling fantastic when you leave. The service here is premium and well worth the cost.

I went into this shop on recommendation was told everyone can cut well… Not the case. The gentlemen that cut my hair butchered my hair line! Then charged 40.00!!! Being the man i am i tipped anyway for the services. Now home i wish i paid nothing at all. Finding a barber in DC has been hell, this experience has shown me that not even the price paid makes a difference in craft. I DID NOT get what i paid for! (This is not applicable to all the barbers, i recommend watching a the barbers cut a grain of hair similar to yours prior to making a choice)

Look my haircut was fine, a simple express cut, number 5. Not outstanding but fine. But holy crap it was expensive — 40 bucks for a simple express machine cut in a small barber shop tucked away in a metro station? Don’t understand how these guys have a five star rating with such prices. Not coming back

Are you in Downtown Washington D.C. and have too much hair on your dome? The professionals at Michael Craig Men’s Grooming will take care of that, and leave you looking better than when you walked in. Everyone working was the perfect amount of friendly and even though I was a little vague on what I wanted them to do with my noggin lawn it still came out great.
Update: on my most recent visit, my hair was done by Alice. I was just as vague about what I wanted as always, and she took my comments and ran with them, and now I look better than ever!

Visited Michael Craig’s today and was greeted at the door by Michael. I was in need of a trim and shave to create a clean margin for my closely cropped beard. Christina took care of me. I received the haircut I was looking for and, most importantly to, she carefully created the margins for my beard, patiently and slowly, ensuring symmetry.
Michael’s shop is now my default barber.

Great stylists. A men’s place. And rare in that it’s racially mixed: Whites, African Americans, Hispanics, Asian Americans all getting cuts. Cool vibe. TV is always on showing sports; music is playing, but not too loud. Stylists are all guys, except Alice, who is great.
It’s in the Farragut North Metro Station, downstairs. They changed the configuration of the front door, which is good: cold wind used to blow in, which was annoying. People will be looking at you as they pass through the Metro Station, so if you don’t like that, well, this place isn’t for you. You hardly notice it though.

GREAT Barber shop. I’m in town traveling and they got me in right away without an appt for a quick trim first thing in the morning. Barber was extremely knowledgable and they couldn’t be nicer in this place!

I’ve been going here for a couple of months and I think they’re great! I really appreciate a shop not far from where I work, and I especially appreciate the hours! Because of my schedule, I’ve only been able to do «walk ins», but, to my delight, every barber, every cut, has been NICE!
My ONLY suggestion for them is to have a set price. For example, I got a cut from one barber for a price. About a month later, I came through, as a «walk in» and got the same cut from a someone else. Yet, his charge was a little more and I’m not sure why. Anyway, because the price threw me off, he just let it go… it was no big deal. I’m definitely a fan and I’m going to keep coming back!

I’ve been coming here for years and have never had a bad cut. The barbershop is right next to the Farragut North metro station/​Results Gym. They take appointments and also provide drinks while you wait for your appointment time. My recommended stylist are Michael, Ameen and Alice.

Came in to get my beard trimmed & spruced up and couldn’t be happier with the results. Paul took expert care in shaping and grooming my beard so I could look my best for my formal event. He listened attentively as I described what I wanted and then added his own suggestions and ideas. The placing was convenient and the ambience was fantastic. Everyone was professional yet welcoming, even for a walk-​in like me. Paul even delayed his lunch break to service me faster, yet didn’t rush through the job to get to his food – that’s dedication to one’s craft!
Sadly, I don’t live in DC (or anywhere close), but if I did I would be back here monthly!

One of the best haircuts I have ever gotten. I was skeptical at first since the location is not your traditional salon, barber shop location — its down at the metro level on Farragut North L St – but gave it a try one Saturday afternoon in a rush. Came in as a walk in, immiedeitaly greeted, offered a drink, and a seat. Five minutes later a gentlemen, which turned out to be one of the owners, called me up to the chair. We chatted for a couple of minutes about my hair, previous styles, and desired look, then he went to work. At the end, I was just amazed with the work. The entire crew at Craig do great work, the fades and attention to detail is outstanding.
Tip: If you are in a rush call ahead and get an appoitment. It can get a little bit busy on the weekends. They are also open late during the week a quick step away from the metro.
