Ever since I was a kid I’ve been interested in storytelling. A photographer’s job, far more than choosing the right exposure settings, lies in creating the space for the authetic — the real story — to happen. For me, the joy of being behind the lens comes from that rare opportunity to share and create something honest with somebody else. Where there is honesty there is intimacy, and where there is intimacy there is at least the chance for art.

Mike’s work has been featured in galleries, magazines, on television and at film festivals around the world. He has lived and worked in Japan, Scotland, Uganda, New Zealand, Hawai’i and Ecuador. He currently lives and works in the Washington, D.C. metro area where he is the founder and director of Interdependent Pictures, a media production studio. Mike is also an adjuct professor and public speaker with a passion for social and environmental issues.
