The lunch special here is unbeatable. I’ve eaten at over a dozen Chinese spots in Chinatown and what you get here for the price and quality can’t really be beat. If I want Chinese for lunch but not sure what to get I will always come here for a good deal and great quantity.

Great crab Rangoon and fried rice but the meat was all very weird — strange color, strange texture — we barely touched it. So I guess I would recommend for rice and appetizer but be careful on the meat you order– we ordered kung pao chicken for reference

Good food, service could use a little work though. Language barrier was the main issue and the wait for food was a bit long as they weren’t busy.

We were here for dinner. The main dish Shrimp & Scallop with King Mushroom(皇菇炒雙鮮, $ 23) only«lodged» one third of the plate, very unusual.(See the photo.) We’d rather pay $ 50 if it was a «full» plate. Fish Maw with Crab Meat soup(蟹肉魚肚羹, $ 14) was tasty, a classic Cantonese soup. Baby Clams in Black Bean sauce(鼓汁炒蜆$ 15.50), another classic Cantonese, really good. Loved it. Setting of this small restaurant was decent and clean. Service was cordial.

My favorite Chinese restaurant in DC. I can’t count the number of times I’ve been to Ming’s, which is probably why I haven’t ever written a review for them. It is not only a staple for groups of friends, pick-me-up evenings, and those Eastern Cuisine cravings but it’s a staple for H Street in China Town. All-Time-Favorites: Jasmine Tea($ 4): A+ The Jasmine Tea not only is exactly what you need to digest a huge meal, but 4 bucks gets you a whole pot. Enjoy small porcelain portions that seem to never end. Crab Rangoon($ 6): A+ I don’t know why Ming’s Crab Rangoon is so good, but it just IS. Six servings for 1 dollar each. You really can’t go wrong there. Wanton Soup($ 4): B+ Though a lower score based on consistency(it’s sometimes better on certain days, served too hot/too cold) but it’s one of my favorite Wanton Soup’s I’ve ever tasted. The noodle quality(again, not always constant) is perfectly doughy while still buttery, the broth uplifts the heart, and the chips it comes with add the perfect amount of salt to every bite. Rice with [your choice of meat]($ 12): A+ This is what keeps me coming back. My Peruvian boyfriend always describes rice from«una Chifa» or the fusion between South American and Cantonese cooking. That’s exactly how Ming’s prepares it’s rice — and in heaps of it. This platter can easy be a main course split between two people. If you see me there, don’t be surprised. I hope you enjoy Ming’s as much as I do.

Just basic Chinese food. Unfortunately I did find some hair in my rice Kinda expensive for Chinese too. I would just pick another spot.

Surprisingly good :) I had sautéed eggplant and it was delicious, I really enjoyed it. Portion was big! I had to take half with me. For the price I think it is with it. If I’m DC and in a mood for Asian food this is my place to go.

I would not come here again. We ordered cucumber roll, some other sushi roll, combination fired rice, and general Sao chicken. The chicken was very sour and barely had chicken but was dough and fat. The rice was very salty as if they had dumped soy sauce all over it. The sushi was just meh and very generic.

I love this place! It’s stays open very late which is a plus and the food is Amazing. After a nice night out clubbing or bar hopping me and my bf enjoy stopping here for sum good late nite grub. Note: the parking may b a issue if you come during busy hours(I.e. lunch time or after 8pm on weekends) So just b prepared to pay for parking. I normally visit after 1 or 2am and I never have a issue with finding parking.

Visited this place looking for some late night sushi while in Washington did not have the best experience at all 1. My food was extremely salty really had no flavoring or Taste other than salt 2 Their credit machine was down and I was told I could write my Credit Card Numbers down on a napkin & that they would charge me later, I wasn’t comfortable with that idea at all this place is in a great location & with some better management it could be much better

Americanized Chinese food. There seems to be many of those places in DC Chinatown, but this was one of the worse places we went to. General impression: all of our dishes were bland. My dish, Ma-Po Tofu, depends on the sauce to give the dish some flavor. My cousin got Hunan Beef – he liked the beef but not the seasoning. Stay away from this place, even though there may not be many options for Chinese.

Not quite sure I can believe the other reviews. This was the worst Chinese food I’ve had in years. Ordered General Tso’s Chicken, Sesame chicken, Beef w/Broocoli, steamed dumplings, Egg drop soup. All were bad. Worst General Tso’s Ive ever had — tasted like frozen chicken nuggets in a syrupy sweet & sour souse from a jar. Steamed dumpling were cold. That is, colder inside than room temperature. My kids ate 2.5 of the 6 of them before we sent them back — they returned with 3 medium warm ones. Egg drop soup was bland and cold. Perhaps we were there on a bad day, or with a substitute chef. That’s my only guess as to why our reviews can be so different.

Wandered into Chinatown starving half to death after walking over 20k steps around the National Mall. This was the first place to catch our attention, so we gave it a try. We were seated immediately and were lucky enough to be placed right near the big window in the front of the restaurant, which made for good people watching.(It also gave my girlfriend a chance to locate a Vietnamese deli across the street and convince me that we just NEEDED to carry around a Banh Mi for an afternoon snack.) Okay, back to the review at hand… We ordered spicy tuna and spicy salmon sushi rolls as well as the Kung Pao Chicken. I wouldn’t say the food was anything special worth going out of your way for, but the fish did taste very fresh. However, the spicy mayo was minimal and very unevenly distributed(first world problem, I know!) Overall, our meal was more than satisfactory, but I suspect Chinatown has better Chinese to offer elsewhere. 3.5 stars.

Nice staff, clean and good quality! You can see the lobsters are in good care before they cook them and you can tell they’re fresh! Very impressed

2.5 Stars. Customer service the host was poor. He pointed to s table and just said, «here sit» and left. The glasses were spotty, the waitress never asked us if we wanted anything to drink. Poured the water and left. As for the food, it’s the same typical run of the mill Chinese food. Quality of food is like a mall food court. Now there were some positives, the place looked nice inside and the sushi was really good. I wish I had ordered more sushi instead of the combo fried rice, orange chicken and beef broccoli. We ate here because we just finished watching an event at the Verizon Center and didn’t want to walk far. However I would not come here again.

First time here. Three different waitresses… food came out before our appetizer. The manager corrected the mistake by giving us our appetizer for free and discount on our order. Food was good. Service could use some work.

So we went to Washington DC Chinatown and ended up eating at Ming’s. I got excited when I saw their Vegetarian«meats» menu, so I ordered a Vegetarian General Tso’s «chicken», thought it was seitan but they told me it was tofu. OK then, let’s try it! Turned out to be a very hard, chewy, «fried» maybe tofu swimming in some weird salty sweet syropy liqud, totally inedible. When I say INEDIBLE, I mean I’d rather chew on a plastic toy truck. It’s always a huge gamble when ordering veg«meat» at a non-veg restaurant. Thanks for the effort though, they let me order something else that was a lot safer to eat and didn’t charge me for the alien dish :) Thanks!

Where do I begin? We went there late night so we could try to get some more to drink. Sadly, they stopped serving beer but we were there anyway and could use food. So, before we even ordered because we got put on the second floor a roach came by to pay us a visit. After I killed it, our server said«yeah, it happens.» The only thing they offered us was to move our table somewhere else, at this point we didn’t care so we stayed-drunk hunger will make you do many questionable things. We should have taken her up on the offer because a few minutes later a group of guys nearby who were drunker than we were apparently started getting into a fight with each other, or were going to. The security guard came upstairs to try to calm things down, then decided nope, not worth it and went back downstairs to let some guy screaming about fake n***** and b**** n***** and how they didn’t want to fight. To our server’s credit she dodged, ducked, dived, and dodged her way through to refill soy sauces like nothing was going on.

I stopped in for a late dinner after flying into DC with my family. For a group of 5, we were immediately shown to our table and given menus. We ordered a few cocktails which came out quickly, and our order was taken promptly as well. The food came out pretty quickly, we ordered: Broccoli & Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Chow Fun, Spring Rolls, and a few other dishes. The food was good, but net amazing. Definitely a solid place though. The atmosphere was so-so. We sat in the back right near the kitchen and bathrooms and the décor seemed a little outdated.

We ate here when we wanted Chinese in the area and searched on Unilocal. We’ve been to Full Kee(a block down) a few times before and think it’s fine. Nothing amazing, but fine. So when we saw Ming’s similar rating, we went for it. It’s always nice to try new places! I was pretty disappointed. We split three simple sushi rolls(tuna, salmon, eel avocado) and an order of mu shu vegetables. The sushi did not taste great. Too fishy, too salty, something. The wrong rice? No flavor to the rice? It was hard to tell what was off, but the bites sometimes had me scrunching my face. I did appreciate that the pieces were a litter on the bigger side, though.(Reminds me of the old Woody Allen joke about something not being good… and with small portions!) The mu shu was also eh. The vegetables had a nice range(including full chunks of broccoli) but ultimately were greasy and not that flavorful. There were also not enough pancakes to cover the veggies. The price wasn’t awful, but the meal wasn’t great. There were also small things like the floor to the bathroom(which went the length of the entire restaurant) being really slippery. Doubt we’ll be back.
