Mt Vernon Sq 7th St-Convention Center Metro Station

Bottom Line: A basic metro station convenient to the convention center but not too many other noteworthy sights.
Most Metro stations are the same — red hexagon tiles on the ground, dim lighting, waffle roof, long escalators and the smell of an electrical train. This station has all of those «features,» plus its small size makes it easy and obvious to navigate. Two lines come through here, Yellow and Green, and they are both on the same platform so there aren’t multiple levels or tons of pedestrian overpasses to navigate like some stations. Something else that makes this station easy to navigate is that there is only one exit. After passing through the turnstiles you can either veer right to land on 7^th Street or veer left to head into the convention center or down M Street NW.

I rarely take this stop since Union Station is easier. The metro employee was too busy on her personal call to answer a question. It is convenient if u are going to the convention center. The station is underwhelming. The employees at the window don’t make you feel as if you are bothering them.

Decent stop. Nice because exit the train and you are mere steps from entrance to the Convention Center. You never have to actually «Exit» before entering the south side of the convention center.
I found the staff to be friendly. And since I was there for a huge convention, I was happy to see the police patrolling this station and other stations near by.

Staff are polite and mannerable. Eager to help and with more than 16k traveling here for January 2013 Founder’s Day + the crowd for Inauguration then another 35k traveling here for our, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. 51^st Convention celebrating our Centennial year — makes me say these folks have customer service down.
Drawback: I was told there was Metro Card celebrating our 100^th Anniversary but alas, no card (I think this was an urban myth) then they sold out of the Obama Commemorative cards so fast that I believe there was only 1,000 printed plus Metro is expensive.
Cleaner than NYC sub but way more costly; however, I am traveling from the suburbs at a higher rate but within the city this is more costly yet we can avoid parking issues.

This is my go-​to-​work and come-​home-​from-​work metro stop. I’m giving it some props because the guy who always hands me my Express is super-​friendly. High-​five to that dude for making my day start out right!

Friendly folks at this station. at least they respond to you when you ask questions. I go through this station EVERY morning… it’s relatively clean and tidy. except the hallway to the escalators… that smells like urine… but still pristine practically in comparison to New York. haha
