my cousin recommended them, and me moving directly across the street, I had to give them a try! This was not my first time getting a blow out, but it was my first time being in a Dominican salon, and I was worried about them being able to manage my natural hair, In which after I thought about it, some of them have the same hair texture so why was I even worried… The salon is small! It’s not that fancy but it’s clean, comfy and well kept! They do speak in their own language, but I do not mind that because I’m sure it’s easier for them to communicate with each other that way. Some of them do speak little English and can understand what you’re trying to request! As soon as I walked in I was sent to get my Shampoo, The shampoo girl was really attentive and gave me the most relaxing shampoo I had in a while! She asked me if I wanted the deep conditioning(she did not pressure me or anything as some salons do) I agreed, it was a extra $ 8 in which I felt was very reasonable! I was under the dryer for a few minutes for the conditioning process, and a few minutes afterwards in which I appreciated because sitting under the dryer for a long time is something I dislike about going to any salon, sometimes it seems as if they put you under the dryer and forget about you, not here, they also constantly checked on me! (Hope I’m spelling her name right) but a lady named Obie did my hair, I showed her a picture of how I wanted it, and she did my hair exactly the way I asked! I got a blowout, bang cut, & deep conditioning and Everything came up to $ 48 in which I couldn’t believe being though I have paid $ 70 and up for a blow out and left with my roots still not straight! Yes, it’s so obvious I will be back!

I love it here but I will admit it’s my back up when my regular stylist isn’t available. Let me first say, I have fine hair with no relaxer and my hair handles heat pretty well. I’m usually in and out and the ladies are always nice(I try to avoid the busy days and later hours). I’ve never got color or cuts but I’ve seen them do it on other clients and they look great. During the times I do have color in my hair, it’s always vibrant once I leave, never dull or lackluster. My hair is healthy, bouncy and never dried out after I leave. I also never have to restyle it later or cry about it when I’m in the car. Note to add… They close at 7pm during the week, so they take their last blowout client at 6:30 on the dot, no exceptions.

This is the only hair salon I go to in the DMV. Being a New Yorker myself I don’t know anything other than Dominican salons. I’ve tried about 2⁄3 other salons and always had to go home and fix what they did wrong. This salon always gives me the results I expect. Tuesday wash & set specials and deep condition discount for students!

This review is very overdue. I am a Dominican from New York have very high standards for Dominican hair salons, spoiled with good stylist and affordable prices back home. This place is just that for the Washington, DC. My only regret is finding this salon at the end of my 3 year residency in DC. I have Dominican curly hair and am very protective about my curl patterns, but of course, when I want my hair straight, I want it straight. If a salon isn’t using ‘rolos’ with my hair, I’m already turned. This salon does your hair with rolos and can handle curly hair. Best price in DC. I think I payed $ 40 for a Wednesday special! Will go back when I’m back in the area.

This was my first time at this salon and I have to say it was fantastic. My hair was braided up for 4 weeks and I had gotten a relaxer three weeks before that. So when I walked into the salon this morning, you could tell my hair needed some WORK. I got a wash and roller set with a deep condition. I was in and out in just about 2.5 hours but I suspect I could be done sooner in the future when my hair is not such a mess. The ladies detangled my hair with care and didn’t apply too much heat either under the dryer or when blow drying. And the price was very reasonable. I think I’ll definitely be back.

This was my first time going to this salon. I haven’t worn my natural for two years(have always worn sew-ins) so after reading reviews I thought I’d check them out. There were three ladies, all very sweet. I wasn’t exactly greeted but I know they didn’t mean anything by it. One washed my hair and another blowdryed and flat ironed. That blowdryer was HOTTTTTTT! I wasn’t expecting that lol. But my hair turned out great. I paid $ 75 for wash, deep condition, blowdry, flat iron, and trim. Will come back soon. I do wish that I could leave a tip on the card! But overall a good experience.

Who said this place was good? They might be quick, but that doesn’t mean good. I walked in on Sunday and got wash, treatment, and press. My hair was limp, oily, and lifeless when I left. I was also overcharged. I totally regret listening to the Unilocalers below.

Today was my first time there and I was quite impressed with my results. Klari(not sure if i spelled it right) did an awesome job with my hair. My hair feels so soft, light, and bouncy. Everything from the deep condition, trim, the style, and highlights are on point. I WILLBEBACK!!!

$ 65 for a blow-out, flat iron, and much needed trim. I don’t know my beautician’s name but she laid me out. I was one happy woman with the work done. They don’t take appointments but I was in and out including wash and trim in an hour and 15 minutes.

Quaint, quiet, quick. This is not my usual salon but last minute choice paid off. My hair was bouncy and bone straight. Their blow outs are just that. You will have your hair washed and then blown straight. The roller sets I have not experienced yet. All in all, great salon and great service.

Carmen and her team are phenomenal. The music is great and the atmosphere is not stuffy. Prices are descent for the area and the skills these ladies have are superb. You want that blow out/laid look try this place. The greatest thing of all is that they are open on Sunday’s which works best for me.

This place is clean, fast, and will lay the hell out of your edges. Definitely not for the tender headed, but I’ve had wraps & blow outs done here 10+ times when I need a quick hairdo and don’t feel like driving to greenbelt to see my stylist. I only go Monday-Tuesday for their discounted blowout, the most I’ve paid was $ 40 + tip. I’m always in & out in an hour-hour and a half. They use ALOT of heat, so if you’re attached to your curl pattern, you may want to not make visiting Dominican salons a habit. The ladies are nice enough, they speak Spanish but don’t gossip unless you’re doing something particularly crazy or are very loud. Im Puerto Rican, I don’t think I’ve ever spoken Spanish in there & they’ve never said anything nasty about me. Don’t expect the diva treatment you’d get at a blowout bar or salon… but a blowout bar won’t get your roots as straight as these ladies will. Warm customer service isn’t the goal, quick straight hair is. All in all, a good, cheap fix a 5 minute drive from my house. I’d give them a solid 3.5, rounded up to 4 stars.

I am very pleased with this hair salon! The owner is great and very knowledgeable about hair. They do have their prices listed, but I think she doesn’t stick to the prices to appease some of her clients who might find the prices too expensive. Honestly I think she does a great job, so I don’t have an issue paying $ 50 for everything(wash, treatment, rollers, blow out). Plus I have thick bra length natural hair. I am too lazy to do it for a reason, and I think her price is fair. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays she had a special where it’s $ 35. I haven’t been on those two days lately– I have been super busy, but in September the special was still going on.

I’m all natural and I went in for a deep condition, trim, and a blow out and the total was $ 85. That’s not a bad price. So here are the prices for everything that I got: $ 45 for natural hair, $ 5 for deep condition if you had a student id, $ 15 for the blowout and $ 10. I think. The woman who did my hair I could tell she wasn’t used to doing natural hair based on the way she combed my hair. She also made sure that I was ok and I was comfortable at all times. At the end of the day I loved it. I wasn’t expecting the amount of heat my hair went through due to the cloudiness between my bestfriend and I. But in another 6 months or even special occasions I will be back. I have to say I was feeling myself afterwards

CARMENCARMEN! can’t go wrong with a dominican hair salon, but this one is it. Betty and carmen are nice, and the ladies are not obnoxiously loud like some other busy salons. Sweet service and always willing to help you out. came in today for a wash and blow out and I’m happy. Reasonable prices love you BETTY !

I just have to say that Carmen has done it again. Made a believer out of me! I have been doing the Keratin treatments for about 5 years. Love it. Now she has turned me on to the Hair Botox smoothing system. Love it even more. My hair is still beautiful. Love love love it!

OMG this is my first visit ever to a Dominican salon and I am hooked. I usually do my hair and decided to treat myself to a me day. I was the first customer of the day(I went in at 9 am). The stylist asked me what I wanted and I asked for the wash set and blow dry. The stylist proceeded to wash my hair which is very thick and curly after which she then put in a deep conditioner which is a additional cost. My hair was soooo soft and my curls were popping. Then she put the rollers in set me under the dryer for 45 mins and when she took out the rollers my hair was so straight that I didn’t need much blow drying. I also was badly in need of a trim but I knew this before hand and the stylist did a great job. It seriously did not feel like I had any hair on my head because it felt so light and had bounce and flow. My hair looked like one of those hair ads with the girl hair blowin in the wind. I will definitely be a regular here whenever I need that Dominican flow.

My niece referred me to Carmen and I must say that she is very pleasant and professional. I’m about about 4 or 5 months into my natural phase(no relaxer) so my hair is extremely thick and brittle! Carmen provided me with a deep conditioning and cut all of the relaxer out of my hair. Talk about nervous! I don’t remember the last time I was natural, smh but Carmen work is like magic! Blow out was prefect! My hair is so straight and soft! I pin curl it everyday and I use little to no heat on my hair. I will be going back in the next two weeks to get a Keratin treatment like Carmen suggested.

I have been coming here for years… here and there… when I need my «Dominican Blowout Fix». They are one out of a few spots I go to. Their prices are great! However, my pin curls never seem to last… not as long as another Dominican spot that I go to. My regular wraps last longer here than the pin curls do. Be sure to feed your meter. Keep up on the time it expires! DCPD will ticket you! The shop is little, but nice. I would not advise to take children if they are not having service done. The owner Carmen is nice. One of the stylists virtually speak only Spanish and not much English… this is sometimes annoying… but not a «biggie.»
