Paper Source

After years of receiving their catalogue, I was finally able to visit an actual location: Paper Source, the creative junkie and graphic designers dream. I absolutely love this store! It’s inspiring, warm, colorful, bright and the staff is very helpful and welcoming. Whether you’re looking for a gift for yourself or a friend, any type of custom made or pre-​made invitation/​card, rubber stamp or any type of helpful craft item, they’ll have you covered. I’m in love with all their calendar/​organization items (they sell designer names too, lots of Kade Spade,
products and more). Also, this isn’t an only female friendly store: they have male products as well!
If you have any type of crafty itch or appreciate graphic design, you’ve got to step inside this store. It’s definitely worth that first step!

Probably my favorite stationary store in the DMV area! They have cards, stickers, mugs, gift wraps, notebooks, planners, just EVERYTHING stationary related items.
In the back of the room, you can make personalized invitations/​cards which was pretty cool to see. They had samples across the room to look at as well. Most of the things were a little pricey. so definitely come here when they have sales going on.

The staff is really sweet and friendly! It is a tad pricey but if you wait for a sale or a coupon you can get a pretty good bargain.
Yesterday I walked out with half priced Halloween garlands for next year and a friends and family coupon. I walked out in a crafting and paper daze so I’ll be back soon to use it for Christmas stuff.

I challenge you to find a better card and stationary store in D.C. They have a big and excellent selection of cards — from floral designs to Star Wars prints. Whenever I am preparing for an upcoming birthday or other celebration, I have to stop here because I know that I will always find something appropriate for the occasion.

The staff here was wonderfully attentive and helpful. They helped a wayward fiancé figure out just the right card, box and did a phenomenal job wrapping it far better than I could… I’m totally taking credit for it though… sorry guys :-)…but thanks a million.

Paper Source is my go-​to place for bookmaking supplies. I always enjoy their selection of decorative papers. I do wish they would switch them out more often though. This is one of the few places I can find specific products like Methyl Cellulose and PVA. Prices are a bit high, but that’s pretty much expected.

I first learned about Papersource reading Real Simple magazine. I was browsing the «Best wall calendars for 2013» or something like that. Anyway, I fell in love with the design that I saw, and decided to look them up online.
A couple of clicks later, my shopping basket was full with all of these cute cards, calendars, and other knicknacks! Since then, I’ve been shopping online and at this store for every occasion, and now I look forward to sending cute cards for birthdays, holidays, etc.
Deducting one star since shoppers have to pay the 5 cent DC bag tax. Apparently they sell candy in small quantities, which makes the tax mandatory. I say candy be gone!

This place is so cute! Whether you’re looking for one of those ironic, any occasion gifts or beautiful cards, I would suggest checking this place out first. I cracked up at half of the cat items I came across.

Unfortunately, my fiancé and I have had multiple problems getting our wedding invitations from this paper source location. They make the entire process more complicated and stressful by requiring separate appointments for 1. Viewing invitation options 2. Quoting a price for your invitations 3. Ordering your invitation. Three separate appointments is unreasonable, especially having to find parking on m street, and even after 3 appointments, these people LOST our order and didn’t apologize for the inconvenience and unprofessionalism. THEN, after that first delay, they have continued to disappoint us. I’ve been waiting for the proof that should have been emailed weeks ago and I finally learn that there is still a delay bc they have had an influx or orders. But again they never apologized or showed any accountability for their poor service, and inability to stay on time. I’m still waiting for my proof but if I had not paid already I would definitely not order my wedding invitations from here.

My husband and I purchased custom invitations, thank-​you cards, programs, and menus for our wedding from this Paper Source location. We were absolutely thrilled with how everything turned out. Great quality and great customer service. The people who work in the wedding department are attentive, patient, creative, and so much fun to work with. We worked with a manager there named Jena who held our hands every step of the way. She went above and beyond to make sure that everything we ordered turned out perfectly. I highly recommend Paper Source to anyone looking for help with wedding stationery!

My fiancée’s new favorite place. We had an hour to kill so we thought we walk around Georgetown to window shop, but pretty much the entire hour was spent here.
Awesome place to go get ideas for wedding invitations, arts & crafts projects, etc… They also have some pretty cool knick knacks (like a cardboard iPhone movie projector… right? :O)

pretty good for cards that you’d want to make yourself. Supplies are excellent. But they have changed their paper stock; used to have italian brand stationery, but it’s been gone awhile.

I don’t think I’ve ever loved a stationery store so much. Paper Source is a haven for Pinterest lovers who aren’t crafty enough to hand-​press flowers into cards or flawlessly execute calligraphy.
I came here for thank you cards and I was not disappointed. While they are definitely on the pricier side, the quality of the paper and sophisticated designs are usually worth the price. This is also the perfect place to pick up blank stationery if you like write thoughtful notes to friends, significant others, or family. I’ve always thought a hand written note goes a long way, especially if it’s tastefully designed. I guarantee you won’t need to be convinced once you set foot in this store. Many designs can be purchased alone or in bulk (usually a box of 8 – 20 cards).
In addition to gorgeous stationery, they have beautiful planners that you’ll justify buying even if you know you’ll never use them. Most of their planners are carefully designed and allow space for additional notes.
This is also a great place to pick up fine paper. The Georgetown store has a great variety of designs including very tempting metallic chevron and spring florals. You can pick up beautiful wrapping paper and gift boxes which I really recommend if you’re buying something for someone who you know will appreciate the presentation (read: not men).
My favorite part of the store was the hidden gems that I didn’t expect to find but would make great gifts. Paper Source carries many notebooks that are perfect for friends, such as the «One Line a Day» journal that you write in for 5 years. I have this book and absolutely love it! I also recommend the gratitude journal, emergency compliment booklet, and Yiddish wisdom book. If you want to find quirky gifts here, you definitely can. A few of my favorites include: mason jar shot glasses, manatea tea infusers, chalkboard wallies, and pineapple shaped ice cube trays. Expect to stay twice as long as you think in this store!

A little background. My sister is getting married in SEVEN DAYS. She is so anti-​Bridezilla that she has become her own mutated and sick «Procrastination-​I hate weddings-​Zilla». There are so many things left to do that, as we met this morning over breakfast to work up a checklist, we were both unable to finish our food due to nausea.
We must have looked like two frightened, feral animals as we entered Paper Source. Pupils dilated, heavy breathing, overstimulated by so many options. We stared at the wall containing various gift tags for a solid 5 minutes without any forward progress before an extremely friendly associate named Jenna offered to help.
Not only did she help, she Saved the Day with a capital S and D. She showed us all the options, gave us guidance, helped us knock everything off our list and then some. She was amazing. She found hidden stock in the back room, printed up and labeled lists of items that we needed to find at other stores, just generally provided fantastic customer service. Turns out her Mom is a wedding planner and Jenna runs the wedding section at Paper Source — she’s an experienced wedding person and it shows. She was amazing and I highly recommend visiting her at Paper Source if you need any wedding-​related paper products.
As for the store itself — Paper Source, like Whole Foods, makes me wish I was a different, better person. The kind who hand stamps gift tags with coordinating fine wrapping paper after home cooking an organic meal for my family. That person sounds nice. It’s a great location with beautiful products. Will definitely be back.

Hello Paper! Goodbye Paycheck!
When I was in college, my art major best friend Casey P and I would literally spend hours trolling all of the paper porn that was held within these walls. We would pass our fingers through the brightly colored, slightly textured, letterpressed cover stock and ooh child… did it just get hot in here?
I have found so many clutch cards here that it would take me days to list them all. To make things short, let’s just say I’ve been holding on to a screen printed Bea Arthur «Thank You For Being a Friend» card for approximately four years now. This card is so awesome that I have not found a friend worthy enough to gift this card out to yet.
Since college, I have graduated from purchased pre-​made paper products into making my own crafts. I’ve experimented with their flower making, gnome building, and banner creative kits with much success. When I got engaged, I signed up for their wedding crafts class before I even updated my Facebook status. Thanks to Paper Source I can now emboss and stamp like a pro.
Their desk calendars are the only reason that I am able to keep track of my copious work related events. My handcarved wooden recipe box is lovingly lined with Rifle Paper Company note cards. I have found my «Le Pens» on the desks of sticky fingered co-​workers. My wedding thank you cards was actually a box of vintage comic book postcards purchased from this store. There is currently two boxes of paper source products sitting right next to me now.
To sum things up: If you want me to love you forever, get me something from Paper Source.

I went to this store yesterday after calling to make sure they stocked the same specialty wrapping/​envelope liner paper as the Reston Town Center location. Immediately upon walking in, I start looking at the paper which is at the right of the front door. After about 30 seconds, an older white woman who wandered near me was approached to ask if she needed help. NO acknowledgement was made of my presence even though I was obviously selecting and holding several sheets of paper.
As the associate helped her, and then proceeded to check her out, I walked to the register to see if I would be greeted and offered assistance. Yup, no such luck. I walked around this store for about 20 minutes obviously looking for something I could not locate on my own. During that time the young woman behind the counter continued to ignore my presence and came from behind the counter to assist those I have to assume she deemed worthy of shopping at Paper Source. Numerous people after me were greeted and offered help. I never was. I walked to the back of the store where I saw another associate, and I was ignored by her as well.
I came in the store looking to purchase numerous supplies ($ 100 and up) for a housewarming that I am throwing at the end of the month. I parsed that out to about 20 dollars as I was being ignore. Each minute just resulted in me putting another item back on the shelf.
I guess I don’t fit the mold of what a PaperSource shopper looks like in their mind, but that’s ok, I will just find another store that provides what they have, where I am treated as if me and my money matters. I also plan on calling the manager after posting this, so she understands that I will NEVER bring my business back. I would give them zero stars if I could. Businesses need to learn that you can’t pick and choose your customers based on how they look or assumptions about them. If they have money to spend, and follows the rules of the store, they are worth having. Period.

Beautiful papers! They even have glitter paper which is hard to find. When I live in DC, I will be here often!

I will admit, d store is decidedly cute, with a bunch of fancy knick knacks I absolutely loved. however, their selection for fathers day cards was super limited. One tiny wall thats about it.
Also, the lady ringing me was obnoxiously rude! I was so surprised, because I have never been to a paper source with rude service! Not only did she make a face when I asked her if they had any more fathers day cards, she rang me up and thrust my cards in my hand WITHOUT a bag or an apology for not having a bag!
I was like — can I have a bag please. She rolls her eyes at me. We are out of big bags, would u like a large bag?
umm. No thank u. Good bye., hope to never see u again.
I would have happily come back to check out their other stuff, now I won’t.

They’ve quite the selection of paper products, arts and craft stuff like stamps, stationery, and fun items like pricey patchwork dolls, junky plush virus dolls, Hello Kitty lunchboxes, and coloring books.
This Paper Source location is spacious and attractive, fun to window shop in, with discounts every so often to take advantage of.
Staff asked if we needed anything — we were fine by ourselves — and I picked up a Listmania book for my friend.
