History

Established in 2013.

Protect it! IP was founded under three guiding principles.

1) The belief that ideas are personal in nature, and that idea each deserves a custom approach towards protection. This is true whether protection come from patent, trademark, copyright, or trade secret.

2) A law firm must understands that protection costs money to their client, and so patents should be written with the end game in mind: sales, licensing, and protection.

3) Full service. The firm should be able to explain at the forefront how enforcement, detection, damages, and profits will work, so that the client decide whether the company needs a patent, trade secret protection, copyright licensing, or trademark protection.

Meet the Business Owner

Paul R.

Business Owner

In my role as a technical and legal adviser, I break down the complicated legal, technical, and financial aspects of determining whether to move forward with an invention, and distilling it down into a concise, simple explanation for my clients (or for a jury). In other cases, I have to interpret my client’s high level instructions, and construct specifications and design requirements to have that project completed by companies that require granular level instructions (could be a prototype, software build-out, infringement search, etc.)

I’m an retired patent examiner, a registered patent agent, and an attorney providing counseling on topics ranging from patent licensing and product development to patent valuation and patent preparation. I help companies determine the viability of a potential product based on related patents of that potential product and use that information in combination with expected profit margins and customer purchase decisions to provide product potential.
