Revolution Cycles Georgetown is the «Original» Revolution Cycles. This location opened its doors in 1998, and in the past decade, the shop has been honored to serve everyone from commuters and messengers to actors and politicians.

I was in a bind on Friday after a taxi hit me and my front wheel was tacoed — and all at the beginning of what was to be a lovely bike ride. All I wanted to do was go for a ride. The Rev was the nearest shop and they hooked me up with a loaner wheel so I could end my 80 degree November day with a ride instead of a walk home on on my heels whilst carrying my bicycle.

I took my bike to be fixed and told them I thought I needed new tubes and tires. They replaced both — no questions asked. I got a flat soon after and they thankfully replaced the tube without a problem. They told me that if the problem happened again then I would need a whole new wheel. Two months later I got another flat so I went to another store where they put a tape liner on the wheel to protect the tube and gave me a new tube. I told them I wanted a new wheel, tire and tube but they refused because they thought it unnecessary. On the other hand, Revolution Cycles is happy to make more expensive, unnecessary changes for their benefit. If you want honest help, go elsewhere.

Needed my bike shipped from Washington, DC to California and honestly I’m very disappointed with the job they did. I took the bike assembled because I believed they would know best as to how to package it and make sure it was not damaged but boy was I wrong.
The bike was damaged while in transit and there are screws missing! The quick release rod is also missing so how am I supposed to put the wheel back in?
I now have to spend about another $ 150 to buy replacement parts and have my bike fixed. Atrocious!

Jacob did a great job on advising me what to do with my bike. It is a super old Peugot 70’s/80’s bike and I and the prior owners have neglected it by keeping it outside during winters. Anyway, he understood that I wanted to fix it as efficiently as possible (bang for the buck) and came up with some good recommendations that I really appreciated. Definitely would recommend this shop!

I can’t say enough positive things about Alex and his team at Revolution M Street. I find their sales and service to be honest and reliable. In my mind, what makes a top notch retail store are team members who try to find the best product to fit a customer’s needs, even if that means directing you to another store or resource. This has been my experience at Revolution M Street. If you’re looking for a bike shop in DC or Northern VA, you should definitely give them a try.
Oh, and to the guy who gave them a horrible review because they told him he could size down on a mountain bike, I hope you’re happy on your heavier, bigger bike. If you really understood what was best for you, you would know that, if the fit is right, the smaller the bike the better… easier to control and lighter.

Sam was very friendly and extraordinarily helpful. It was obvious I didn’t know anything about bikes but she fit me on a great machine in my price range. This is the place I’ll go anytime I need something for my bike.

We needed a bike shop to receive and re-​assemble our bikes after shipping them for our bike tour. They quoted a price, and tried to double it once they received our bikes. After a lot of arguing, they only jacked the price by $ 30. The re-​assembly was okay, but when they re-​packed them, they did such a poor job, two of them were badly damaged in transit.
Bottom line, they don’t honor quoted prices and don’t take an appropriate level of care with customers bikes. Steer clear.

The folks at the shop are the best and all make you feel special. This is truly the place to bring your bike for work, buy a bike. Katie has moved up in the company and Congrats to her and the company. she will be missed but the team of Alex, Philip and Jacob continue with the personal help.
Just left my road bike in for some overhaul work before spring. Can’t wait to get it back.

I’ve been commuting on my single-​speed and carbon bikes for years in Denver and D.C., and Revolution Cycles in Georgetown is among the best bike shops I’ve been to. It’s my favorite shop in D.C.
The employees in sales are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about their products. Phillip Colon, who heads the service team, is great. He’s a good listener, good diagnostician, gives reasonable quotes for parts and labor, and is happy to teach while performing repairs. I can’t say enough good things about this shop.

Since I wrote this review, I found a job that will take me out of the area. Since I’d already decided on the bike, I gave some thought to buying it in my new locale… for about a nano second. I figured these people had earned my business.
I wasn’t disappointed. They set up my bike while I waited (I don’t have a car, so I needed to ride it home!) and have made several adjustments quickly.
Now I’m sorry I’m leaving the area, just for this bike shop. Great people her!

In one word: FRIENDLY. I bought a bike from RC in Georgetown and had a great experience with the staff. The sales-​folks are friendly, knowledgeable, and not pushy. Alex helped me and so did Justin. I give them both 5 starts. The minus is for the shop’s lack of expediency. I asked to have some extras mounted on my bike and was told it would take an hour. One hour 10 mins later, nothing was done. The tech did apologize and proceeded to help me. He too was friendly and helpful. I just wish it didn’t cost me so much time. Overall, friendly shop and awesome service so long as you are not in a hurry.
Will write more once I service my bike and adjust the rating accordingly.

Service: Horrible customer relations!
Last weekend I wheeled my mountain bike into their shop and asked about what they did for a tune up and how much they charged. They said they take the bike parts off, clean them and adjust them for $ 99. They also said that there was a two day turn around with no appointment necessary. I liked that and today brought the bike in.
At the service desk their story changed and they upped the price by $ 50. They also said that the man who quoted $ 99 was from their sales team and not service so his comments didn’t count. I did not like that and said please give my bike back and I will think about it. Also, I told the man that it would be nice for them to talk it over and share the same story so it would not change from one side of the store to another. Then, the Asian serviceman with a snobbish tone told me that there is another bike shop, rudely turned around and walked away!
Yes there are other bike shops and I will take my business there. I highly recommend that you do the same.

Local bike shops like this keep the passion of cycling going. Solid team of knowledgeable individuals, decent enough prices (think local, so they can be beat, but that’s not the point!) I was glad to support this shop when I was riding in D.C. next time I’m back, I’ll stop by regardless of my cycling needs situation.

The staff here is knowledgeable and professional. The guys in the service department took the time to talk me through various repair and tune-​up options. Dusty (?) in particular helped me select several items to go with my new bike (rack, lights, etc.) and also assisted with putting in a special order for a couple of small parts.
The pricing is, admittedly, on the expensive side – a tune-​up is going to cost you $ 100 – 200. I was going to take a star off for this, but the I am willing to pay a premium where it is justified by excellent service, as it is here.

Revolution Cycles is located on M Street right at the junction with the Whitehurst Expressway. I ended up parking along the street and I am not sure there is another option.
This is a pretty great bike shop, especially for commuters. They have bikes ranging from the touring commuter style to time trial setups. There are many different sizes, which impressed me. I noticed bikes from Trek and Felt, but they have numerous other brands as well. There is a pretty good selection of commuter/​touring supplies such as panniers. It’s a very large shop and there is a reasonable level of stock bikes available. The sales personnel are okay. They are very friendly but I do not think they know their stuff as much as anyone from Freshbikes – but the two stores are really different.
