Very rude office! I called them and they immediately hung up on me once the operator mentioned I use sign language and they would interpret for me. If I could, I would give them a ZERO star ( Unilocal, consider this as an option).
That’s a red flag. Hanging up is only the beginning of a lousy service.

Dr Bridges has been my doctor since April 2014 and I am really lucky to have found him! I tried a couple of other doctors in the area but I wasn’t happy with any of them.
He is the best ob-​gyn one can ever have. He is extremely knowledgeable, very patient and takes every detail into account. The assistants in his office like Jackie are all on top of the game and remember every detail of each patient. He takes time to talk to you about your health history and explains every procedure in detail and never gets angry if you ask him even a million doubts!
I had my first baby in November and I cannot explain how beautifully Dr Bridges took care of me. I had to have an emergency c section and Dr Bridges performed the surgery perfectly. The incision was so small and it has healed very well. He is an amazing surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for the best ob-​gyn in DC!

Dr. Bridges is, hands down, the best doctor I’ve ever had. This is my first pregnancy and Dr. Bridges has taken the time to talk with me and my husband about all of our questions and concerns. (My husband thinks he rocks.) Dr. Bridges is warm and kind, and has been incredibly responsive to my anxiety about labor and delivery — he even arranged a meeting for me with the anesthesia team so that I could talk with them about my worries. He’s on top of all of the latest medical literature and will talk with you in a kind but straightforward way about all of your options, and work with you once you let him know what your preferences are. He also helps you prepare not only for labor, but also for actually having a child. (He advised us to make sure to pick out a name before the due date, line up a pediatrician, stock the house with diapers in case the baby comes early, and identify my post-​partum supports ahead of time to make the weeks after birth less stressful.) Every time I see him, I just want to give him a huge hug and thank him for being so wonderful and so competent. I love this man!
His staff is also great — when I got dizzy during my glucose test, they made sure that I got something to eat and had someone to drive me home before they’d let me leave. All around, a great experience with this practice!

Dr. Bridges was my doctor the 24 years I lived in the DC area. He was the most caring doctor I’ve had. He took the time to find the source of my problems instead of just giving me medication. I referred many friends to him.

Dr. Bridges is an amazing doctor. He truly cares about each of his patients. I saw him last week for the first time and before any type of exam, he sat with me in his office for about 30 min and did a full medical history with me. He’s kind and compassionate and very knowledgable about his practice. Also very thorough.
Down side is his receptionists aren’t the kindest over the phone, but in person they were fine with me. I will definitely be returning.

I should send the woman who recommended Dr Bridges flowers. What a relief! I met him in his office to discuss my and my partner’s health history/​needs and so on instead of filling it out on paper four times only to have the dr ignore it. Dr. Bridges asked questions to follow up on answers I gave and took the time to to answer all of my questions respectfully and completely. We discussed various tests that could be done and he respected my decisions. Only when we finished talking and I’d asked every question I could think of did he send me to the exam room. That part, well it’s never fun, but it was less awkward than I thought and over pretty quickly.

Dr. Bridges is the best, OB/​GYN doctors I’ve ever seen. I started seeing him over 8 years ago and would highly recommend him. Prior to examining me we had a lengthy discussion in his office for about an hour. He asked me lots of questions about my life, my health, my family’s health, etc. He gives me opportunities to ask questions of my own. After this we had a short exam and I was on my way.
Dr. Bridges has everything you want in a doctor. He’s kind, attentive, patient, respectful, and smart. He’ll be honest with you, but in a kind way. You would be hard pressed to find better in the DC area. I plan on using him as my physician as long as i live in this area.

I’d like to disagree with the two posts about the front desk staff (we’re all entitled to our opinions) and write about my experience for anyone reading. I have been a patient of Dr. Bridges for over 10 years and saw him for the first time with my first pregnancy… which resulted in a loss of the pregnancy. As you can imagine, this was the most difficult thing you could go through with a doctor.
While it is correct that you discuss your issue with the front desk, I found them to be nothing but patient, knowledgeable and caring in helping me deal with this. There was a period of about a week where they had to deal with me about every single day and they were nothing short of supportive for what I was going through. She once spent about 15 minutes on the phone with me, talking with me, and I KNOW how busy that office is.
Everyone has their own experiences, but this was mine and I don’t think the reception should persuade anyone to not see Dr. Bridges. I was and continue to be very comfortable in this office and look forward to another experience there, hopefully with a better outcome.

I spent well over a month researching OBGYNs online, calling the offices to get a feeling about the way staff treat patients, and going for meet and greets. I met with Dr. Bridges and picked him for my OB doctor, and I have to say, he is the best OBGYN I have been to, and I have switched quite a few. The gender of the doctor seems irrelevant as he is so considerate, incredibly knowledgeable and you know that you are in good hands when you work with Dr. Bridges. His staff is very friendly, professional, and helpful. And DC is a tough place to find a good doctor where you don’t feel like a number.

I’m actually writing this review on behalf of the Mrs. I am told that the receptionist at this office is as rude as they come. So rude, in fact, that my wife fears calling to make an appointment because of the intrusive nature of her questions and condescending attitude when given a response. She is THE ONE who determines how urgent of an issue something is when setting appointments. Something that may be causing great concern is given the «oh, that’s no big deal» attitude. The front desk person should show kindness and sympathy when dealing with patients. We are currently searching for another physician. It is sad, shameful and pathetic that the front desk person causes a doctor to lose business.

I actually found Dr. Bridges using Unilocal and I can tell you that I was not disappointed!
I found that unlike some previous female obgyns I’ve had, he was not condescending at all and was very open to my concerns. He actually diagnosed an issue I’ve had for years, that other obgyns basically ignored.
I’ve been recommending him to all of my friends, esp those who had reservations about going to a male obgyn!

I can only echo the previous comments about Dr. Bridges: he is very attentive, always spends time with you, his staff is friendly and professional. I have had some billing issues but they always get resolved. In fact I chose him because of the great reviews on Unilocal.
But, I am concerned that it is very possible that he would not deliver my baby since he has a solo practice and is working together with 6 other Ob/​gyns located all over the city whom I would not even be able to see before the birth. I noticed that all comments below are from women that he himself helped deliver: does anyone here have birthing experience with some of his affiliate Ob/​gyns?

Just adding an update: since my last review I must say that all the problems with the office staff have been resolved easily, and I’ve had very good experiences with each of them, and I continue to hold Dr Bridges in highest regard.

I haven’t been to an OB/​GYN this good in 8 years. First, the office had me fill out very minimal paperwork and nothing on my medical history. I thought that was strange, until they took me back for my appointment and told me not to get undressed yet, that the doc wanted to speak with me first. He then brought me into his office and spent 30 – 40 minutes (no joke!) talking to me. We went over my entire medical/​sexual history, typical questions he asks, and then he gave me plenty of time/​opportunity to go over things with him. I even brought up some questions that I had asked prior OB/​GYNs about and his responses were soooo much more useful than advice I’ve been given in the last 7 or so years.
The exam was as comfortable as these things can be. He was very gentle, explained everything he was going to do step-​by-​step, where I would feel pressure, etc. He also talked to me the entire time (about where I lived, how the neighborhood has changed, etc.) and made me feel very comfortable. And at the end when I had to have bloodwork done, rather than having to go to another office or lab in the office complex, one of his nurses took my blood and sent everything away for samples– far less hassel and time than I’m used to (although, I was still there for a little over an hour total). I couldn’t more highly recommend him.
FYI, he’s very good so for my first appointment I had to wait about a month and a half to get in.

I am a new patient and had a very pleasant experience with Dr. Bridges. He was friendly and warm and spent at least a ½ hour with me in his office asking me about my medical and family history. It seemed like he really cared about me as a new patient and took his time to make sure that he understood everything about me. This is stark contrast to my other gynecologist who must have spent at most 5 minutes with me, including my exam. Dr. Bridges made me feel at ease and I look forward to my next annual appointment (which I usually never say about Doctors visits!)

I switched to Dr. Bridges from a mega-​practice when I was 11 weeks pregnant. The difference was like night and day. At my first appointment at the big practice, the doctor spent about five minutes with me and didn’t ask how I’d been feeling or whether I had questions — and this was my first appointment for my first pregnancy!
By contrast, at my first appointment with Dr. Bridges, the man himself spent over an hour with me, going over my health and family history, what to expect, and so on. He even gently chided me for not bringing my husband because he likes to talk to the dads too. I’ve also called the office a couple of times with questions, and the nurses I spoke to were very helpful.
Note: he does NOT deliver at GW anymore, which surprised me, given that he uses GW’s facilities for testing, etc. and his faculty profile page is on GW’s website. He delivers only at Sibley.

Cannot say enough good things about him. He is a great guy and a great doctor. The very best. He always takes the time to talk to me about any problem and has never rushed me in the 10 plus years I’ve gone to him. He never talks over you or dismisses anything you say. Both of my sisters see him too. I didn’t have the best time with a pregnancy and he saw me everyday when I was having problems. I like his office staff. I have always though they all were very nice and easy to work with. If for some reason my insurance no longer covered him — I would go to him anyway.

Dr. Bridges is fantastic. I was his patient from 2002 – 2006 & recommended him to all of my girlfriends & co-​workers. I have since moved and am still struggling (2 years later!) to find anyone up to his caliber.

His office is actually located 2440 M Street #416 the phone number is right. He also delivers out of Sibley and GW. So that’s why I think the address is GW hospital. Anyway, call him and make your appt.
Are you looking for the BEST of all «BESTEST» OBGYN. This is the right man for you. Dr. Bridges is kind, gentle and a great personality. He delivered my first baby and walked me and my husband through it all. I love this man. Even my husband liked him. He took really great care of me and my baby and my husband. His southern accent really makes you feel like he cares. He sits you down and reviews all the necessary and unnecessary details about your body and choices. He educates you so you can make the right choice. I love this man… I love this man. Now that I am in Los Angeles, I have not found the same treatment yet. His staff is also friendly and they even are patient about payments. :) I love this man…
