Pretty good service. Food comes out rather quickly. I generally sick to noodle dishes so I can’t speak for much else but no complaints here. I came on a groupon, but I do want to note that if you use a Groupon you can’t order from the happy hour menu.

Had the wild pork and papaya salad. Both were phenomenal. I stood up front for a good 5−10mins before i was acknowledged but I dont hold that against them too much since it was pride and the place was packed

Terrible and generic Thai food. The pad Thai is soggy and the curries are watered down. The service is no good either. It may have been good once a upon a time but it hasn’t been in years. Just shut down. You are a thing of the past.

The service was great and food came out pretty quickly. The appetizer I chose was the HOIJOR which is fried crab cake which was excellent. For my entrée, I had a shrimp curry dish that had 10 pieces of shrimp. I wish it had more rice included with the dish because there was a lot of curry. I also had the fried pineapple rice. It had a lot of rice and raisins but barely any shrimp, chicken and pineapple. The drinks aren’t the best, they barely have any alcohol. The happy hour is everyday from 4 – 7 pm but it’s pretty lackluster. I would only come back if I had a groupon. Btw the groupon works on the entire menu even the drinks but not the happy hour.

They have good customer service and quality of food is comparable to other Thai restaurants in the city. Not bad especially if you run into a Groupon or similar.

I want to say ‘if you like Wegmans sushi, come here’ but honestly, Wegmans is better.

Food is decent but nothing terribly special. I am most disappointed about the rather lackluster amount of vegetables that came with my meal. 2 baby corn, 4 slices of carrot and 2 things of broccoli.

Very solid Thai restaurant. Delicious green and red curries. We were going to have beers, but were convinced by the friendly waiter to have the special martinis for 5 bucks a piece and loved them! We will be back.

My friend and I came in around 9pm. There were about six other groups there, and the service was quick. I got the panang curry with chicken, and my friend got the pad see ew with chicken — we both cleaned our plates, which speaks to both the quality of the food and how hungry we were. I was definitely pleased. We thought it was kind of surprising that we had to ask for chopsticks(they just give you a fork), but we were given some when we asked. We also asked for hot sauce and got four different kinds, which was fun to try. Next time I’m in the mood for Thai, this is the place I’ll come to.

Their fried calamari is dope. The pad thai is good too usually(although it can sometimes come out a little more salty than usual).

I was wondering why this place was empty on a Friday night when the Mexican place next door was packed. I got my usual the Panang Curry and it tasted blah. They forgot to season to dish and I’m not one who likes their food spicy. The rice tasted too mushy. I was very disappointed with my meal.

DONOTEATTHECURRIESIFYOUDON’T EATFISH. I’m a strict vegetarian and I always ask about this. In the past, I’ve been assured that the curries listed in the«vegetarian» section of the menu did not contain any fish products, but was informed today that they all contain fish sauce and shrimp paste. They need to indicate this on their menu.

Great food! Welcomed by host who provided insight on parking as well. Live band playing on arrival. Enjoyed sushi rolls, veggie fried rice was tasty, avocado salad, and seaweed salad!

I will NEVEREVEREVER come in this establishment again in my life. I arrived around 6:30 pm on Sat 8⁄22. The place was nearly empty. I was the first to arrive from my party and asked for a table for 4. The waiter tried to seat me wayyyyy in the back of the restaurant, even though the place was as empty as the Sahara desert. I asked for the manager and requested that I sit in the booth near the window in the front of the restaurant. The manager said that the front table is typically for 6 people, but would let us sit there when my party arrived. I told him I was ready to order, so I would like to be seated immediately. The owner restated that I couldn’t sit there until the rest of my party got there. At this point, I’m like…(1) there is NOBODY in this bootleg restaurant(and yes, I mean bootleg, the décor is the pits), so why can’t I sit there;(2) I am HANGRY(hungry and angry) and I would like to order now. I did not need to wait for the rest of my party to order, so again, why can’t I go ahead and take a seat; and(3) THISPLACEISEMPTY, so why can’t I just sit and order my dern food! Instead of being happy to have patronage(in their empty establishment), the management was unreasonable and simply dumb. They lost over $ 150 in business because of stupidity. I can’t help but wonder if my experience would’ve been different, if I had come in the restaurant with less melanin in my skin and straighter, blonder hair. I should’ve went to Beau Thai anyway — the food there is way better. Never again, Sala Thai. Never again.

Sala Thai was surprisingly better than expected! After an early Friday evening show at DC9, my roommate and I were looking for some sustenance before heading over to the shenanigans that is Adams Morgan. After hemming and hawwing over the options on U Street, we settled on Sala Thai and were happy with our choice. Even though it was 7ish on a Friday night, we were seated immediately. There was some kind of live band playing which was sort of annoying, but luckily we were seated in the side room which also houses the sushi bar. Side note, yes there is a sushi bar here. Not sure how good it is, but definitely worth noting if you are heading here with a large group and some want sushi, some want Thai. We passed on alcohol and shared an order of spring rolls, pad se ew, and panang curry. The spring rolls were perfectly crispy without being too greasy or tasting like old oil, the noodles were as delicious as they could be, and the panang curry was also as hoped. The portions were quite large, and even with us being big eaters we still managed to leave a few bites behind. All in all, your typical Thai, executed properly. When all was said and done, we each got out of there paying around $ 20, pretty unheard of these days around U Street for a sit-down dinner. Will I be clamoring to come back? Not particularly. But if I find myself in the area and in need of a Thai fix, I wouldn’t hesitate to stop by.

My sister and I were craving for some sushi(we’re sushi addicts lol) and decided to randomly try Sala Thai. We shared three rolls and they were pretty delish! The sushi was fresh and filling. I also ordered a house salad and the portion size was bigger than what I expected but good nonetheless. Real chill environment and the waiter was very helpful and polite. I will definitely visit this restaurant again.

The sushi was fresh. Loved the thai food served as well. The duck was really crispy. The Larb Gai was nice and refreshing. Service was very attentive and she made sure I enjoyed everything I ordered. At first I was skeptical about the crispy duck coz I thought it was sautéed in the curry sauce. I’m glad I tried it as its now my favorite dish. Will definitely be back and will also get 3 more groupons. It’s definately a great deal. $ 25 for $ 40.
