Reasonable prices for great service. I’ll be back to try other services! REASONFORCOMING: Wash/blow dry LOCATION: Located on the 1800 block of M street by Wells Fargo. There’s several garages on the block that are cheaper after 7pm. Otherwise, street parking is available, but traffic is so bad it might feel hectic parking on the street. It’s closest to Dupont Circle or Farragut North Metro Stations — both on red line. ATMOSPHERE: Small salon. Clean. Bright inside. SERVICE: Excellent. Booking an appt was easy over the phone. The woman at the front desk seemed a bit flustered when I got in, but she set me up with a stylist right away. I was assigned to Victoria, who was easy to talk to and styled my hair better than anyone in a while. She drew attention to layers I didn’t even know I had! The shampooer was great, too. She had control; water wasn’t flying everywhere on my face, like other salons. DISCOUNTS: They offer 10% off your first visit! They also had a special on mani/pedis and waxes when I went in. Lots of specials. I like :)

This review is for Michelle, the spa/wax person at this Salon. I never was picky at who I went to for a wax but when I encountered Michelle about 3 or 4 years ago, I fell in love. Not only is she very efficient and clean with my Brazilians, she is very personable. She remembers conversations from your last visit, asks about your family, and just really nice and professional.

Was in DC for business. Walked by Salon Balayage on my way to lunch because I had some extra time. I wasn’t expecting to get the best waxing experience I’ve had in the last couple years. Michelle is awesome. She’s fast, professional, and great at waxing. I wish she could move to California so I could go to her every month. I recommend her highly. Thanks Michelle!

I definitely recommend Michele for waxing! I was referred by a co-worker, she gave me her cellphone number to text her. I texted her my information and set up my appointment via text as well. She is very knowledgeable, precise, and welcoming.

I have been getting my hair cut and colored by Linda, the owner of Salon Balayage, for over 15 years now. Even though I have spent a lot of that time living overseas, I always come back to Linda on every visit to DC. She has repaired and fixed a lot of bad cut and color jobs I got abroad. She has a huge and loyal client base due both to her professional skill, and wonderful personality. The other stylists, colorists and assistants who work at the salon are also a very diverse, international, fun, talented and personable bunch.

I recommend Victoria for haircuts. I’ve been going to her for years now, and she always does a good job.

Linda, the owner, as been my hair dresser for nearly 20 years. She fixed a horrible haircut and I never looked back. I moved with her to each new salon and then ultimately to Salon Balayage. She has always listened to what I want while making sure my hair looks good. She will encourage me to try a new style and then lets me decide. Sometimes it takes a while for me to decide on her advice and I always am pleased with the results. My hair is thick and wavy with a mind of its own and Linda has done a fantastic job of making it — and me — look good. I have recommended several friends to Linda, all of whom are regular customers of hers now.

I have been going to Linda for almost 4 years now and she is wonderful! When I moved to DC, I searched for a long time to find someone to do balayage highlights and Linda does them perfectly. They look so natural and grow out without creating dramatic roots. And I can always trust her recommendations for my cut and color. Linda is also fun to talk to and so friendly with everyone. In fact, the whole staff at Salon Balayage is super friendly. The salon is modern and attractive. Pricing seems fair for this area. I visited several other salons in DC before settling down at Salon Balayage and the pricing was similar for salons of this caliber. It seems like the staff there all have so many long-term clients, which is obviously a good sign.

On the recommendation of a friend I started seeing Linda about 5 years ago. Before that I would take a day off work to get my hair cut in Richmond since I’d seen the same stylist there for 10+ years. Linda is the first person in DC I’ve gone to more than once and I love her. Aside from her fabulous styling skills, she is genuinely kind and remembers even the smallest details of a conversation from months back. Even though I go about 4 months between cuts, the style she cuts stays despite having thick hair. I trust her 100% to provide a great cut and she always delivers.

I dont want to be completely honest with how i feel about my haircut here but i will state the facts. Over priced: yes, we are in DC not NYC. I specifically said im growing out my hair and i got a big chunk of the back cut off because«it looks better that way»… um, let me be the judge of that. I brought a picture of what i wanted!!! and i when i left, my hair did not look like it got styled, it just looked shorter. i am so mad as i write this because i’m tired of having stylists decide what they think is best rather than just doing what you ask for. Oh, and one side is cut shorter than the other, i just realized that after straightening my hair! Anyway, i learned that a friendly staff doesnt mean that you’re going to get what you’re going there for, the haircut you want! 6 more months and maybe i’ll try another place in DC, otherwise im heading back to NYC! 2 other girls have had similar issues with stylists from around the area, and one poor girl tried 4 different places… and nothing.

Linda rocks the world and the salon is quite stylish. My wife and I and now our 3 year old go to Linda, as do about 15 of our friends. We’ve been with Linda for more than 10 years. You always come out looking good. She provides good conversation for men, who might not normally be caught dead in a salon like this– it was part of my pre-nup, but I don’t mind a bit.

You must take the good with the bad, then average things out. I’m a man(obviously) and I’ve gotten several pedi’s there. Overall I’m very happy with my service, they know my name when I walk in the door, and everyone is very pleasant. My fave was julie but she has since left the salon but I still come in for service. as a «metro» male, I’m not easy to please when it comes to messin with my toes, lol, but they are great and Linda is a very exuberant woman who I believe is about not only business, but to make me, «you» happy. I would recommend Balayage-and I don’t co-sign too many establishments(smile). I do have a recommendation though, Get a bottle of scotch so that I can have a quick drink while I’m sitting. Rob

The Salon Balayage staff is friendly, stylish, upbeat, talkative, knowledgeable and accommodating. The salon has excitement, flair, a lovely layout and decorations. My co-worker who is a regular client highly recommended this salon to other fellow co-workers and me. My first appointment included a pedicure, and for my hair, a deep-conditioning treatment and blowout. For manicures and pedicures, sterilized tools in a sealed packet are used for each client to prevent spreading germs and infections. The massage chairs have heat, which was relaxing after a long day at work. The nail tech also vigorously massaged my legs and feet. The amount of nail polish coats looked pretty and shiny. Additionally, the magazines are up-to-date and in good condition. The deep-conditioning/moisture treatment is an interesting procedure where a machine is attached to your head for heat after a deep conditioner is applied. My hair was smooth, soft and silky after the treatment. With my budget, I was iffy about having my hair blown out which costs extra; however, I considered it an early birthday gift to myself! The stylists fixed my hair exactly how I wanted it — loose curls, shine and volume. They even demonstrated how I can maintain the hair-do over the next few days. The products used on my hair are amazing. The hairspray does not flake nor become greasy. Furthermore, the owner informed me of when and how to shampoo, condition and style my hair. My hair and nails found a new home at Salon Balayage! =)

Salon Balayage has been open for 8 months. They have a clean, pleasantly-decorated space and the usual variety of services(manicure, pedicure, pedisoak, hair cut/style, probably more). While the manicure was speedy with fewer endcoats than I’d like, it was done flawlessly and dried fast… so how could I complain? I like this Salon because the girls who work there are friendly and talkative. It’s got a good vibe! They appear to love and dote on their customers(= good idea). They are eager to make you another appointment, but not pushy. I have scheduled myself for a pedi next week. :)
