It’s as good as consignment shops gets. This store has everything from J. crew to Louboutins. You will find items that are as recent as the current season. You’ll also find a good handful of older styles for designer items, but when designer and in good condition, those are good staples in your closet.
I’ve been pleased with the pricing scheme, which decreases every couple weeks. It’s fair and promotes a good circulation of products. I’ve never gone twice and seen the same batch of clothes.
They have a good selection of designer handbags — most of which are very gently used. In comparison to their original price as well as taking into account style depreciation and general wear and tear, i would say that the price is fair for what you get.
I wanted to purchase a dress that had a damaged seam. I got a discount though it was brought in the other day.

In my experience, thrift stores aren’t charming. But no one expects them to be. Everyone is hunting for something decent on the rack. Consignment stores are supposed to be a step up. Perhaps they’re brighter, cleaner, possess a bit more ambiance with the music playing in the background. For me, Secondi didn’t have that extra level of pizzazz. It did have a nicely curated selection of clothing, but many of the pieces were focused on brand names over the quality of the pieces.
Many of the patrons were older women, early forties at the youngest, and they were looking to get decked out in designer fare. Sure, that’s the goal, we want a good deal so we buy second-​hand. But the prices made me laugh. It brings to mind the time my friend recommended I visit a nice restaurant. When I saw that the cheapest appetizer was $ 15, I tapped out. You know, I’m sure paying $ 60+ for a basic brand name top or $ 100+ for a pair of designer boots is a steal in some circumstances. But if you have a budget, if you shop at thrift stores, and if you cringed when I threw out any of those figures, Secondi is not for you.
Younger women, Secondi’s market is not under-​30s. There isn’t a lot of trendy clothing, for better or for worse. None of the hottest styles or trending brands are present. You can find some more recognizable brands, if that’s your cup of tea. That means you can brag about the Prada, Chanel, or Brooks Brothers piece you purchased. But just know that you’ll be paying a price consistent with the value of that brand name. It’s a consignment store after all, not a charity.
Guys, I scoured the store. No men’s section in sight. Sorry.
The only redeeming factor, for me, was the selection of leather jackets. There were two racks full of them. Some were absolutely lovely, but many of them weren’t practical or classic enough to merit a second glance. Again, prices were upward of $ 200+, which made me sad. But that’s just my Asian heart.

If I could I would leave this with a NO star. It was my second time shopping with here. The first time was quite pleasant however this time was completely different, the long gray hair lady who seem to be the manager there was very rude as she suspected U.S. Of switching tags from one item to another, let me remind you once you agree to buy an item the sales associate will then cut off the tags on the garment and as I was being rung up there were already other tags laying around the counter that they didn’t toss away from previous transaction also a few on the floor that weren’t picked up. Anyway her demeanor and attitude towards us was so NEGATIVE and I don’t know why I continued to spend my money there at such environment. I was charge twice because the first one had to be voided due to the tag situation (when it should be the employees responsibility to thoroughly check every scan). I have two pending transaction from this place of which I have to dispute with my bank. What a waste of time to even think about shopping here and being treated that way with her attitude. DON’T WASTE your time and money here as this will my last time and I’ll never come back.

This is the second time I came into the store the first time was a pleasant experience the second time however was terrible. I’m giving them two stars just bc of how it was managed. I get it, I run a business as well and the whole transaction was a mess. The gray long haired woman who I believe was the manager (bc she was dictating orders to the employees). She was was very rude and accused us of switching tags even though the tags were cut off by her coworker! It was very embarrassing. When they had rung it up it showed as a different item. That is their fault for mis-​tagging the item. On top of that, the register was so unorganized there were tags everywhere. And on the floor! So thing that really made me mad was the gray hair lady took the ticket from the floor looked at me up and down and said «it was under her feet» her store being unkept and unorganized was their fault. I stared at the lady who cut off my tags previously and was hoping she would tell her ignorant manager that I clearly didn’t switch it. I’m never going back.

I’ve consigned at several places but I would say this has the worst ROI, I’ve only made $ 40 over the course of consigning twice with over 20 items. And once the items expire, you do not get your items back, they are «donated.» Other consignment places offer your items back if they do not sell. Also their items for sale are very overpriced, I’ve never been able to find a good deal. Their shoe selection is a hot mess, scuffs and just messy looking, and the shoes are located in 3 different areas, I’m not even sure how they sell shoes? I would never recommend this place to any of my girlfriends.

please read review of Marta R. which is totally on point. Administration of consigned goods seems sloppy and is entirely non-​transparant at best. I find there is unsatisfactory communication from store to consigners, so if you consign, you do so entirely at your own risk.

As a long-​time consigner (a couple of times a year over the past ten years) at Secondi, I will list the positives and negatives of doing business, consigning, with Secondi:
Positives:
–The ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ split of selling price is fair.
–Secondi offers the convenience of drop off (after the first in-​person), or even mail-​in.
–Its website is comprehensive with details/​information/​forms for consigners.
–Appointments are made, easily, in person (otherwise one has to call and/​or leave a vmail to request an appointment).
–Once you arrive at your appointment, the consignment is usually conducted on time.
–Senior (long-​time employees, say five years plus) staff, and the owner are respectful, kind, and understand the symbiotic relationship with consigners (without us, there would be no them).
–Senior staff will offer reasonable advice on bringing back garments (that would sell better in another season), or explain the reason a garment was not accepted, and the advice/​explanation will be communicated in a respectful and easily accepted manner.
–Items are priced to sell, and one can negotiate the price of a garment (typically, 95 percent of my garments sell – due to their style, condition, and selling price).
–The check to the consigner includes details of what items sold, and the selling price thereof.
–If a consigner plans strategically (the timing instructions are given in the website), the payment transaction is reasonable.
Negatives
–Voice mails to request appointment are not always returned – a consigner must be persistent.
–Secondi does not make appointments by email.
–Some members of the staff (generally the junior members) act as if they are doing you (the consigner) a favor. They will chat among themselves rather than tend to customers/​consigners.
–Dismissive and imperial manner of communication by the newer, and more junior members of the staff.
–Inconsistent judgement on garments. In this case, garments judged previously (by a senior staff) for the appropriate season were rejected (by the newer, junior staff) and when I shared that I’d been advised to bring the garment for the current season, the junior staff apologized that I was told to bring the item back.
–Some staff seem to reject items on a whim and give sweeping general advice on items that are not accepted (when items with the similar style and condition had been accepted in recent previous consignments with senior staff).
–A couple of years ago, a jaw-​dropping (mine) incident occurred when, after a huge percentage of my garments had been accepted, the junior sales person ORDERED me to replace my hangers with the store’s hangers. When I explained that other staff had done that for my previous consignments, she told me that they were wrong, and that it was my responsibility.
–As noted in the Positives, the payment process (only via check) is reasonable, unless the owner is away, in which case payment will take longer (depending on the owner’s absence) to be processed because the owner, only, has the authority to sign the checks.
Other comments:
–All in all, it’s my experience that the owner, and long-​time senior staff are consistently efficient, courteous, and knowledgeable; and the junior staff are, well, hit and miss.
–I prefer in-​person consignment appointments so that I can have input on the pricing, and donate the rejects to my preferred charity.
–I accept that the $ 1,200 dress I’ve put up for consignment may be priced at $ 300, and if it sells quickly, I’ll earn $ 150; I understand that I’m paying for the convenience Secondi’s resources, experience, and heavy foot traffic.
–Yes, I have a choice in where I consign my garments, so with Secondi, I take the negatives with the positives. But before each consignment, I cross my fingers that I will work with a senior member of Secondi’s staff.

Popped in here needing a dress to wear to a wedding. the following day. One of the saleswomen briefed me on the store when i walked in, asked me a few questions about what I was looking for, and led me to the best area to search, even helping me pick out dresses. She was fabulous. When I went in to try on the dresses, she found a few more for me. One of the dresses she picked ended up being the one I went with.
They seem to have a great selection of items and the prices weren’t bad. They also have a wide range of designers. I got my dress for probably $ 100 cheaper than trying to buy the same dress online.
I’ll definitely come back – had a very good experience.

I had a fabulous time browsing the collection of consigned clothing at Secondi, and can endorse them with five stars even though I didn’t buy anything!
It’s a second-​story shop, so unfortunately it’s not terribly accessible. However, after climbing the stairs up, I was greeted by a friendly saleswoman who asked if I’d ever shopped with them before. She explained how their pricing works: all items have an initial price when they are consigned, and have lower prices that they will be reduced if they haven’t sold by the corresponding date on the tag.
Browsing through the racks, I was amazed by the quality of items– everything was in great condition, and the brands were ones that lots of ladies would dream of owning but maybe couldn’t afford to buy at retail price. I especially thought the shoe selection was pretty great.
I can’t wait to visit again! This time I just didn’t find anything that was the perfect fit for me, but based on how recent many of the purchase dates were on the tags, it seems like their inventory changes regularly.

I walked in for the first time in years, only to remember why I hadn’t been in years. I had planned to dash in and check out the bags, but was told at the entrance that I had to either leave my tea at the counter or drink it on the couch. Seriously? I know the poor salespeople aren’t to blame for this very stupid policy (I can’t think of another clothing store that does this), but it was incredibly annoying and the vibe of the place was very negative, which I remember from before. The salespeople seem like they’d rather be somewhere else and really don’t want to deal with customers.
I wasn’t allowed to look at anything because of my violating tea, but the store smells musty and I got the sense that I wouldn’t find much. I never did before, and remembered the primary reason I stopped going to this store. They don’t have much.
I used to consign here occasionally, but the appointments were a tremendous pain and I never made very much money. I’ve done much better with Current Boutique, which is a far better store in all ways – selection, ease of consigning, success in selling consigned items, and friendliness/​vibe. They should open a branch in Dupont.

The Best consignment store in DC for sure!
The location first is adorable you have a couch in front of the fitting room so your boyfriend is not even gonna be annoyed about doing shopping with you. Ten I must stay the staff is awesome!
And finally the PIECES!!! I Always find something that I love for a very great price!

I was quite disappointed with this consignment shop. When my allergies start acting up in a store its not a good sign– quite musty and the clothes were underwhelming. I gave Secondi a second try (haha) but the clothes were the same as when I went before and majority of the clothing you could get from the actual store brand new at a cheaper price if you went during a routine sale. My friend almost bought a Fendi purse there that was extremely overpriced and obviously not a genuine Fendi– luckily we talked her out of it. I recommend Reddz Trading in Georgetown if you want to shop quality consignment but feel like you are in a regular store instead of the more thrift shop atmosphere offered here.

The best consignment store that I know of in DC, Secondi is where I’ve found countless pieces of clothing, be they office or weekend clothes. In addition, I’ve become quite the fan of the rubber ballet flats that they sell (as they’re perfect for wearing in rain or shine.) I’ve acquired great pieces at Secondi at perfect price points. The pieces of clothing are generally sorted in a manner that makes it easy to find similarly sized pieces of clothing, they’re always in great condition, and tend to be top brands that would certainly cost me significantly more were I to buy them elsewhere. Besides which the women who work at this shop are incredibly helpful and make shopping there easy.

This is, by far, my favorite consignment store in DC. They have a ton of great brands in all different sizes. I feel like they have a little something for everyone. I do not feel as though their prices are too high because you really are getting great quality items. I have been shopping here for years and I plan on continuing for many more. :)

I will save my hard earned money. What a joke. This is not a thrift store. I would never buy used clothing for their ridiculous prices when I work at Nordstrom Rack and can buy the same brand for less. Even nordstrom isn’t that expensive. Who are they kidding? The rudeness of the customers was the breaking point after I already decided that I was just there to look. Would not recommend to anyone. Please don’t make the same mistake!

I don’t make it to DuPont Circle often, so when I ventured up there for an obligatory happy hour, I figured I’d hit this place up as well. So, I get online, do my research, and find out that they close at 7pm. Perfect. I’ll swing by here after I’m done with the schmoozing.
I watch the clock the entire happy hour, and finally get my bill and leave at 6:40. I walk the block to Secondi, with a skip in my step, excited to score something awesome at a store I’ve never been to before. I walk up the stairs and as I walk in, the woman behind the counter, instead of greeting me, states. «Just to let you know, we close in 15 minutes!» Okay, hello to you too, and yes, I’m aware, since I did my research like a good little consumer and timed my evening with perfect precision.
I begin to browse the racks. Nothing there really stuck out to me — it was all just meh. Maybe if I valued the designer label a bit more, it would have appealed to me. I just go for cuteness. Anyway, the entire time, the woman is going around the store (and it’s not that big), squawking, «Last call for the fitting room!, Last call to try on! Last call for the fitting room!»
A couple more people came in behind me and were immediately heralded with the closing countdown. Finally, I threw in the towel and left, since obviously I was being a nuisance and putting the clerks out.
Look, I’ve worked in retail plenty of times. I know what it’s like to not leave work on time. I know those annoying customers that come in at 6:59 and don’t leave until 7:20 and don’t buy anything. That was not me. I got there in plenty of time. And even if I didn’t, that’s not how you welcome and treat people who come in to spend money at your proprietorship.
As I was leaving, the other woman smiled and called out after me, «Thanks for coming!» I’m sure what she meant to say is, «Thanks for leaving!»

Ho-​hum.
I’m a big consignment shopper and Secondi just doesn’t really blow my second-​hand skirt up. Occasionally, I’ll find some basics. The prices are kind of on the high side, though, and a lot of times I think to myself, I can pay the same price for this on sale and get it brand new.
I pop in every so often, but I put on some lbs and I find it’s not worth my time over a size 10.

Secondi has loads of high-​end designer clothes, and if that’s what you’re looking for, you will pay for those labels. However, if you are interested in well-​made clothes and the designer isn’t your primary concern, you can do well here. The best part is that the cost is reduced the longer that the item remains in the stock. I believe that it’s 10% off after the first month, and 20% after the second. I found all the staff to be very helpful. And the dressing rooms are really cute!
If you are accompanied by someone who isn’t interested in consignment shopping, La Tomate across the street is a good place to get a drink.

I have visited this store about 4 times, but have yet to make a purchase. I have found some things I was interested in buying, but the price always prevented me from pulling the trigger.
Firstly, the store is well organized even though there is A LOT of merchandise. There are some seriously beautiful pieces and some less high end but stylish options.
As far as customer services, the women are very good about explaining their pricing and making sure you know how much the items are. BUT where they fall short is, although they have a lot of people working it was very hard to find someone to open a fitting room. Once I found someone all the rooms were full and she said she would find me when one opened, which didn’t happen so I had to ask someone again. I awkwardly stood in the an obvious place, yet nobody checked on me to see what I needed.
I went in looking for a new years eve dress and was willing to be more flexible with my budget — but still I walked away with nothing. I found a few dresses and skirts but nothing was just right in fit or price point.
I won’t give up on this store, I will continue to tell others to check it out — but I don’t think I will go again on a weekend when they are busy.

You may have missed Secondi above the Starbucks on Connecticut, but it is definitely worth a look. I finally checked it out after living in the area for over a year. I wish I had gone sooner! A little crowded, the store is nicely organized by size. I didn’t have to do much digging like in other consignment stores.
Secondi has a wide range of brands from Ann Taylor to designer Kate Spade and Diane von Fürstenberg. The clothes are all good quality and well made. You can also find jewelry, purses, and shoes. The shoe section was pretty disorganized so I didn’t even bother looking for my size.
The staff was very friendly. Within a few minutes of entering they explained their pricing– items get marked down the longer they are on the racks. Their inventory changes often.
I would highly recommend giving Secondi a look next time you have a few minutes to kill in Dupont.
