We had over 10 sites with siteground for over a year. Sites get hacked sometimes, I’ve been doing this for 23 years. The problem with siteground is their up-​sale of their hack alert which alerted «clean,» even while we were under attack. They pulled out some lingo that it only alerts when the the top level is hit. I think the top level is hit when the site won’t come up. And Our sites were going down with clean alerts coming in the inbox. And also coming in the inbox soon before they threatened to suspend our sites for malware with 24 hour notice.
So that’s just a useless tool cost a few bucks a month. But, because it was so useless you would think they would offer a refund of some sort for it having no effect whatsoever in helping us be «alerted,» by a «hack.» Secondly, when we ordered the 299.00 clean up from them. We saw when moving our site one week later that it was still infected. So that is useless also. We had to pay someone to clean it up again for the new host. They then scanned the cleaned site… then immediately deleted the alerts in our Cpanel that showed the site infected again days 10 days later. As well as their customer service they were okay robots from time to time, but in the end offered no refund on the failed security clean up, offered I think $ 12 refund for the two years of failed hack alerts, for thousands of dollars by their ineffective product contributed to. I hope they get their act together for the sake of other small business. I would strongly suggest going somewhere else.

We moved our web and email hosting to SiteGround in December. We did this only after Media Temple our current provider began to become overrun with spam. So, on the advice of my web programmer, we moved to SiteGround.
We weren’t with SiteGround even 30 days when all of a sudden our email began bouncing back to our clients. We began receiving calls asking if we went out of business? I was so shocked to learn our email was bouncing back. Upon calling SiteGround, they said we maxed out our email space and I should delete email. WHAT??? Then they told me for a fee I could move to the next teir and my problems would go away. Well, I had no choice I needed email. So, upon paying the increased fee it took two more calls and a few hours later before they started allowing our emails to flow through again.
Then since then (January 2015), your email would suddenly not send out or receive. It would then require a phone call to their support team which is like rolling the dice. One time you may get someone who is friendly but just throws out an excuse (which is never the cause) or you get someone who literally 100% doesn’t care that you are experiencing an issue which may be adversely affecting your business. You could spend hours on the phone with them at times and get nowhere. This has happened over and over and over.
Emails on your phone and/​or lap top will randomly disappear. 100% gone. They can’t or don’t want to explain. It happens to often for it to be random or isolated.
Every issue surround why randomly your email would not send or receive, outside of wrong guesses, they simply can’t give you an answer.
Recently, we had no choice but to move hosting companies. I can’t afford to continue with a company who gladly takes your money, cuts off your email just to increase your rates. This by the way has happened three times since December 2014. I can’t afford to have my team members not be able to receive emails for whatever inept reason SiteGround wants to throw out and see if it sticks.
After 6.5 months of pure hell, we are switching to
. We spent Friday working with a Migration Specialist at Rackspace. We changed the name servers/​MX records on my SiteGround CPanel. Then about an hour after this, no more email. It was all being rejected.
This is my third time changing email hosting companies. When we change the records we have never been without email. However, leave it to SiteGround. When I called on Friday evening, Ibal said well when you move away from us this is what happens. Then when I explained he was shutting my business down, he responded with «no, you moved your email». Again, no care.
Then I guess max it could take for the MX records to propagate to the internet is 48 hours. Most companies can do it within 24. Not SiteGround; 48 hours later we are still not propagated to the internet. So, Rackspace and I worked today to start making calls. Now Yosef at SiteGround says it can take 72 hours though the SiteGround website itself says 48.
Numerous calls and support tickets… nothing. We are now having to take alternate actions to move our nameservers and MX records.
My advice… RUN. RUN. RUN. I can’t imagine any company doing business is as unethical, inept and incompetent as this one. If you opt to sign with them, beware you will have problems.

1. It took over 10 support tickets each with multiple interactions, over the course of 2 or 3 weeks to get my site transferred and running.
2. They transferred my email before changing the MX records, so about a weeks worth of email was lost.
3. If I have email open on my desktop, and then open it on either my laptop or my phone… the site goes offline. I explicitly asked about this before I transferred and was told it would not be a problem. I opened two tickets and both times they said to upgrade to a better package, at double the price…
I will, but it will be somewhere else.

I’ve used many other WordPress hosting sites and these guys —
— was ranked highly. Unfortunately, a simple WordPress setup caused 2 calls to tech support, with the 2^nd call taking more than 30 minutes to be completed. What’s worse, is that they couldn’t explain to me what they did to fix the issue, so now if I have other issues, I have to do a support ticket, rather than fixing it myself.
If I didn’t need to get this site setup and running quickly, I wouldn’t stay here — but if there’s even one more issue, I’m gone.
So disappointing.
