Skin Rejuvenation & Acne Clinic

I was really excited for this appointment since most reviews were positive but I have to side with the negative ones here. There was no personalization. It seems that she sells exclusively Sanitas products and recommends the blood type diet. I didn’t think it was worth my time at all to have her lecture me for an hour about the blood type diet while I sat upright on a table. She didn’t cleanse my skin at all or look at me under a light and magnifier to see what I was working with. I took her recommendation for skincare bought well over the $ 100 minimum purchase of products but regretted doing so. They irritated my skin and I therefore never used them so it was a waste of money. First of all, I don’t think that a woman of her professional expertise should be prescribing diets. If I need a new diet, she should refer me to that kind of professional. Also as a vegetarian I can’t bring myself to listen to an esthetician telling me not to eat beans, avocados and seeds. So I did consult with an RD who said that it’s a hoax and fad diet and to forget about it. I am going to get some personalized allergy testing done and find another esthetician for a facial.

I have tried many skin care clinics but didn’t get the results that I was expecting after spending tons of money. Kathryn was the first one who thought me how to take care of my skin and how important my diet would effect my skin. My skin was so rejuvenated right after the first treatment. I am also using the products that she has recommended me and they have transformed my skin so much. Since my visit to Kathryn all my friends and family have noticed the drastic change on my skin. I am so happy that I have met Kathryn and will continue to go to her. I strongly recommend everyone to go to her.

Went back to Kathryn (Skin Rejuvenation Clinic) after four years for electrolysis and received the very same detailed, professional and precise attention as I used to.
The place is extremely clean, the facilities look brand new and Kathryn is so professional.
It’s so comforting to know that someone lives in the neighborhood who cares about your beauty as much as your own self dose!

I was interested in electrolysis and went in for a consultation. My consultation was for 15 mins out of which 10 mins she spoke about how «toxic» my skin was. The remaining 5 mins was when she finally got to the point of electrolysis and how lucky I am to have found her. She was very specific about keeping in time with my appointments, which I respect. But her policy is borderline rude, with cancellations being a hassle and being charged for the whole time even if you are a few mins late, your clock would have started before you get there.
When I asked if she could do a test patch, she said «No, I do not have the time for it», showed me out, dropped me at the «appointment desk» and asked me to book an appointment. She makes you think that she is doing you a favour by working on you. Of Course I did not book an appointment with her !
I later found Hair Free Electrolysis in Bethesda and couldn’t be happier ! They are simply amazing ! They give you a test patch, work according to your schedule and oh my the results I got after just a few sessions were amazing !

I’ve been seeing Kathryn since about 2004, and I thank my lucky stars that I found her and took her advice. I can’t imagine what my skin would be like today without her.
When I walked into her office for the first time, I was 29 yrs old, had recently completed a round of Accutane and was experiencing cystic acne all over again. I was a mess. I knew going back on Accutane was not the right choice, so I took a friend’s advice and went to see Kathryn.
Kathryn totally understood my skin. As a bi-​racial woman (black/​asian), I have very specific needs. Within 4 weeks, I saw a marked improvement and by the end of 8 months, I had the best skin of my life. For 15+ years, I had been the person who thought about my bad skin ²⁴⁄₇ and now I was free! I haven’t turned back since. My skin has been flawless since 2004 — something I never thought possible.
Some may say that 8 months is a long time to walk away with perfect skin, but I couldn’t disagree more. Accutane was only 3 months and look what it got me?! Kathryn provided me with an individualized treatment for how best to treat MY skin. No cookie-​cutter treatments here!
I get compliments almost weekly about my skin. I still pinch myself b/​c I never thought I could ever be someone with great skin. But, it’s true. I love my skin! Best money I’ve ever spent!!!

I have been coming to see Kathryn for the last 8 months, and I can’t think of a better investment with my money and time. She will tell you like it is, and if you follow her advice, you will see results. I trust her with my skin, and I have NYC standards. As an experienced skin clinician, Kathryn is the only person I would and will see to help me tackle skin and hair issues.

It’s simple, really. The lady knows what she is doing.
I have been to quite a few estheticians in the past. I have difficult skin which is also very sensitive. Some of them helped a wee bit. Some of these «pros» only made it worse. All of them were less expensive than Kathryn. The obvious answer of course… you get what you pay for.

I should first say that really like Kathryn quite a bit, so I’ve hesitated to write this review. I think it important, however, to share my negative experience at the Skin Rejuvenation and Acne Clinic. I’ve had manageable acne most of my life (i.e. the occasional multi-​pimple breakout on my cheeks, chin, etc.), and have used Proactiv for much of my acne-​ridden years with fairly good results. I went to Kathryn (based on great reviews from my friends) thinking that it was time for me to graduate from Proactiv, and that perhaps she could help me to fully clear my skin once and for all. I was given a skin consultation and then sold a number of Sanitas products, all of which are fairly expensive. After about one week, I saw improvement in the texture of my skin, but then shortly thereafter experienced the worst cystic acne I’ve had in my entire life. Determined to stick to Kathryn’s routine and diet recommendations, I persisted with the products and strictly adhered to her blood type diet for a period of about six months. During this time, I went back occasionally to see Kathryn noting each time that my skin was growing progressively worse. It was clear that my skin was very irritated by the glycolic acid (Kathryn’s go-​to for acne), but that a layer of dead skin remained on my face and was consistently clogging my pores. I mentioned that my skin needs near-​constant exfoliation, especially given my daily use of glycolic acid. She provided me with a mud scrub/​mask that did little to remove the dead skin and insisted that I must be eating too many tomatoes. I found this to be ridiculous given 1) that I wasn’t eating many tomatoes and 2) that I’ve had beautiful skin in the past while feasting on tomatoes and many of the other «forbidden foods» according to the blood-​type diet. My skin issues became progressively worse after each visit. I developed cystic acne in places I’d never even HAD acne. And my fine lines even seemed more pronounced. I was completely devastated, especially after having dropped almost a thousand dollars on products and treatments.
I ended up returning to Proactiv. My skin has recovered since, but still isn’t anywhere close to where it was when I first went to the Skin Rejuvenation Clinic. I simply don’t understand what went so wrong with my skin given the many good recommendations that Kathryn received. I’m evidently an outlier, but I want people to know that Kathryn’s routine doesn’t work for everyone.

I have been seeing Kathryn for about one month now. First let me say, she is very enjoyable to be around, always having something to chat about. She helped me change my diet and she really uses products with great ingredients. I have struggled with acne for half of my life and I am starting to real results.

I’ve been going here for electrolysis for about a year now, and have experienced amazing results. The hair is mostly gone after regular treatments. Although it is painful, it’s definitely worth it. Kathryn is also a wonderful person, and although I came in just to do electrolysis, with her influence and products I’ve ended up finally kicking the stubborn one or two chronic pimples that had been plaguing me!

I started going to Katherine in 1998 — I saw an ad in City Paper with the message: «it’s education not medication.» For the first time in my adult life, I no longer had acne. I’ve been living in Colorado over the last eight years, which is a completely different environment for my skin. Boy did I have a hard time finding someone who was as good as Katherine and eventually I just gave up. I start treating my own skin and was wearing so much make up to cover my acne, I wanted to hide. I decided to call Katherine a year ago and she consulted with me over the phone. I bought her products and within weeks my skin was back to normal. I will never forget the waitress at the restaurnt who over heard me say that I was 44: «Are you kidding me? What skincare line do you use?» Of course, it was Katherine’s magic.
I’ve now moved back to DC and am so excited to start seeing Katherine on a regular basis again to both improve my acne, but also rid myself of the sun damage I got while living in Colorado.

I went to Kathryn for electrolysis, and it has been great. I’ve done electrolysis in other places, but she is by far the best. I did electrolysis for a few years at other places, and none of the treatments ever stuck. With Kathryn, the hair has stayed gone for a while, and after 4 – 5 visits most of the hair seems to be gone for good. Electrolysis can be painful, but it’s worth it. If you’re doing it, you might as well get it done with someone who knows her stuff. Kathryn is very professional, and she has a gorgeous office with a pretty ceiling to look at while you’re getting treatments. I definitely recommend Kathryn for electrolysis.

Initially, you first go for a consultation, that is free if you buy products but are under no pressure to do so. She is a huge supporter of the blood type diet, so you have to be willing to change the way you eat in order to really see results.
This philosophy appealed to me because I have been to many facialists and from my experience diet is a huge component of the way your skin looks, even if I don’t like to follow it all the time. Using really harsh products like pro-​active, for me, was not a long term solution.
With that said, her products are gentle yet effective and more natural than most. Adding the LED light is essential in my opinion, as it targets different issues such as acne or aging.
This is not a spa like experience, no robes or anything like that. If you want to really change your skin and willing to change your diet, I highly recommend this place.
