Smashing Smiles is as good as dental/​orthodontic treatment can get. It’s an unpleasant chore at best and a Lovecraftian nightmare at worse. Well, at Smashing Smiles it’s as good as it can possibly be. I had invisalign done there and my appointments were on time, smoothly run, pleasant, and effective. Can’t recommend them enough. They are very disciplined from a patient flow perspective, and it shows. They don’t seem to over-​schedule people, leaving you in the waiting from for an hour. Really well run.

I have been a patient of Dr. Willis’ for a little over two years now. I’d searched long and hard to find an orthodontist in the District that was not only great at their craft, but reasonably priced as well given that orthodontic treatment is a pretty pricey investment. Finding Dr. Willis at that time was a Godsend. Not only was she skilled at what she does, but her prices were reasonable AND she accepted my insurance! She and her office staff at the time were also very personable as well. Recently however, Dr. Willis has brought in a whole new team of office staff and assistants. Since then, the level of customer service has experienced a rapid decline. I used to arrive for my appointments and be seen within ten minutes or less. The whole appointment from the time I came in the door to me receiving my adjustments and leaving would be 30 minutes or less. Gone are those days. Now the average wait time to be called back is at least thirty minutes. Then you’re looking at another 20 – 30 minute wait to be seen once you’re in the chair. One time I waited for nearly an hour just to be called in the back and even longer to be seen by someone. I was there for almost two hours. Absolutely ridiculous! Both she and her staff are frequently late for scheduled appointments. Additionally, the receptionist needs a crash course on her customer service and phone etiquette skills. I called to reschedule an appointment and was left on hold for ten minutes without so much as a check in or an explanation. Yesterday I arrived a few minutes late for my appointment and was told that Dr. Willis would look inside my mouth, but wouldn’t make any adjustments due to me being late, and that I would have to reschedule for another day. Excuse me? The time you take to look inside my mouth you could’ve made the adjustments and sent me on my way. Mind you the waiting room was void of patients and Dr. Willis could be heard cackling in the back about something I’m sure didn’t pertain to braces. I politely got up and left. I’m going to check and see if there’s a possibility of transferring my treatment to another orthodontist.

I had been considering Invisalign for a while, but held back due to cost. All of the companies offering deals on Groupon and Amazon Local had really bad reviews. When I found Smashing Smiles on Groupon, I was really impressed by the deal. $ 3100 covered the entire Invisalign treatment (most places just offered a credit towards the cost but didn’t cover the whole treatment) and the groupon would be refunded after the consultation if Invislign was not a good fit for the patient. The office had good reviews so I took a leap of faith and made the purchase, and I’m glad I did! The office is beautiful and in a very convenient location. Dr. Willis and her staff are all excellent; they have the perfect balance of friendly and professional. My Invisalign treatment is going well and the only addition cost was a $ 500 imaging fee for the mandatory X-​Rays and 3d imaging to create the molds. It would have been nice if this fee was noted in the groupon, but it wasn’t a big deal since the groupon was such a good deal. I highly recommend using Smashing Smiles for Invisalign, with or without a discount!

Really bad customer service!!! they book numerous patient at the same time and they make you wait… they made me wait for more than an hour and i left with out even seeing the doctor. Disappointing and shameful!

I had an appt here for 9:40, no one was at the office or answering the phones. The receptionist didn’t show up until 10 and the dr still wasn’t there. They said that when dcps has a delayed opening they also open late, but they don’t advertise this anywhere and did not call the patients to inform then. Really unprofessional, I don’t plan to return.

The staff is extremely friendly and professional and Dr. Kennerly is very personable. I’m a current Invisalign patient and I was able to use a Groupon deal and get them for a great price. They also offer Acceledent here which I hadn’t even heard of. It’s basically a vibrating contraption you put in your mouth every day for 20 minutes and it cuts your treatment time in half. Now instead of wearing my trays for 12 months, I only have to wear them for 6! I have two other friends that have Invisalign right now (one in DC and one in NY) and neither of their Orthodontists offered this option. Getting orthodontic treatment as an adult isn’t fun but Smashing Smiles has made the experience a lot better than I imagined.

First, this office is located at a very convenient location. The building is only 3 blocks away from 3 different metro stations and surrounded by other office buildings. This area is somewhat busy with many people walking by, so it’s a lot safer for parents to send their teenagers here alone. If you choose to drive here, it might be a little challenging to find street parking, but if you can’t find one, there is always an option to use valet parking located in the same building. Another thing I liked about this office is that this office is run by a great staff team. The receptionist is very friendly, and the dental assistants work very efficiently (and also friendly). I had long and interesting conversations with both the receptionist and the assistant. Lastly, my impression to the orthodontist is that she is very enthusiastic in pursuing beauty and providing esthetic work to the patients. She was friendly and professional. Skill-​wise, she seemed quite experienced. While I was there, she was very gentle, and I did not feel any pain or discomfort, and I did not see/​hear anyone having pain.
