History

Established in 2000.

Since David founded the company 12 years ago, he and SDC have renovated hundreds of houses all across the city, with a focus on pre-​1945 houses and historic homes on Capitol Hill and in Tenleytown and many other neighborhoods in DC. While doing so, he’s employed the most modern of techniques, including ever more green technologies and materials, while also preserving the historic nature of the houses.

Business Owner

David Robertson has been working on old houses since 1998. Leaving behind a lucrative, but ultimately unfulfilling job as a salesman, Robertson hired onto a local carpenter as an assistant. He found that the satisfaction of being able to see clearly at the end of the day what he had created was unmatched by anything he had done before. He quickly rose in the business, discovering along the way that he much preferred the challenge of working on older city houses rather than on the cookie-​cutter projects of the suburbs.
