I refinanced my car three years ago with State Department, I was not happy with the rate but that’s my fault for not shopping around. I signed up for GAP Insurance and unfortunately I totaled my vehicle early January.
It’s been well over a month and they have frozen my account for none payment… WTF?! GAP INSURANCE RIGHT???
First off I contacted State Department a day or two after the car was totaled by insurance. Over a month later they told me they had no record of me having GAP insurance. Of course I immediately forwarded the documentation.
They have been paid by the insurance at least three weeks ago. I went to withdraw funds at a shared branch location a few days ago and after two hours on the phone with «really nice customer service» trying to fix the problem because they know I’m right, I was told I could either come to a branch or have check mailed. I decided against going to the branch because I’ll only get more upset.
This credit union sucks!!! Management is unresponsive!!!
I work with credit union daily and this is by far one of the worst.

Located inside of a State Department building, but outside of the security checkpoint. This is a small branch with faster lines than the Clarendon location and a staff that is more service oriented. No waiting in line while patrons small talk with tellers, they are actually here to serve members as quickly as they can.
I came in with an out of the box issue and they actually did their best to find a workaround to resolve it. It didn’t end up working out for me, but I did appreciate them not just reading from their rule book as they like to do in Clarendon. They also did a good job at explaining what the problem was and working through it with me trying their best to find alternative solutions.
Pros work here and they do their best to give you the best experience they can. A solid branch.
