I really appreciate what The Little Beat is doing: healthy, veggie dominated plates and wraps and bowls. Its how we all should eat! Unfortunately, its a fast-casual lunch spot, and the prices are just too steep for me to justify eating this on a regular basis. Almost $ 15 for a small-ish piece of salmon and two sides? I can get a HUGE chopt(equally healthy, if picking the right ingredients) or Sweetgreen for $ 10, not to mention the other fast casual competition(Cava, Roti, &Pizza). Im still giving The Little Beat some love because the food was in fact delicious(the kale in particular!), and you should try it out, if you havent yet. But if you are more of a quantity over quality person, or cant swing a $ 13+ lunch(i think the non-meat wraps/bowls are less), this may not be the right place for you!

Very Disappointing! The miso chicken bowl is a salt lick. A sparsely populated, $ 13 salt lick. Maybe I ordered poorly? But if I had the time to get away from my desk again I would return it.

Filling and delicious food, but overpriced. Clearly problems with execution from staff and management. Predicting this place will be closed in less than 2 years unless management turns things around.

I like this place but it is just too damn expensive. Today I had chicken(comes with 2 sides) and a soda. $ 16. AYFKM? Even for Dupont fast casual business lunches, it’s too expensive. The food is fine but not fantastic.

The sushi burrito rolls are awesome. Definitely enough food for a meal, but you don’t feel weighed down. Awesome.

This little gem is a great place for people with Celiac disease. My bahn mi roll was made fresh and was truly delicious. However, some of the sides, like the sweet potatoes, appeared overcooked. I would recommend taking a peak at them by the pick up counter before ordering.

I came here for dinner and it was okay but it could have been better. Everything had clearly been sitting around. My salmon and sides were all dray. Kale was like paper but still tasty. The cauliflower held up pretty well. I looked at the broccoli and string beans through the glass and looked shriveled. The salmon lacked seasoning. While dry, the food overall tasted okay. I’m sure it would taste better during lunch when it’s fresh.

As a frequent Dupont Circle visitor and coincidently now working in the area, this place definitely tops my healthy fast food options. Although way too pricey for my pockets to come on a regular basis. I really enjoy the food and recently the server I met named Justin was extremely friendly and cordial. He elaborated on the menu options and gave his best opinion for a great choice for my friend who have never been before. Though my service was excellent and my food was tasty. I noticed how Justin was actually the only server working while his other 4 coworkers continued to have a conversation amongst themselves while other patrons entered the restaurant. For instance, passing cigarettes is behind the counter and not even stopping their apparently«engaging» conversation to greet the person standing right in front of them, was undeniably noticeable. Unfortunately, I think this will eventually give a very bad reputation to a restaurant that deserves a high score. My advice would be to monitor your employees more thoroughly; as I can see other patrons may not be as patient and understandable as the one I observed. My only other suggestion to develop a way to just pricing as I’d like to come here more often but for the price I’d have reconsider bringing my own lunch.

Centrally located in the heart of DC. The concept is healthy eating !! I ordered the grilled salmon. It was too oily. Cooked on a commercial flat griddle. My two sides where beet quinoa and broccoli. I must say the Quinoa was awesome !!! Not very appealing but really flavorful. The broccoli was wonderful too well seasoned. It is a bit pricey. Certainly will be back for the Quinoa.

This place is located where a Pei Wei used to be, right next to a Nando’s and a Shake Shack — both of which would have been better options. But since I will always try a chain I’ve never been to once, I gave it a shot. The line wasn’t too bad at lunchtime, although it did get long behind me. I ordered the grilled chicken with sweet potatoes and cauliflower-leek soup. The chicken was pretty bland, and was a little bit pink inside, although it didn’t give me any issues. The sweet potatoes were roasted with sea salt, decent way of having them without the usual over-sugary treatment. The soup didn’t have very much of the leek, but the curry and garlic spiced it up a bit. I was expecting it to be bland after eating the other two items, but it turned out to be the best thing I had. Prices are quite high even for the area it is in; my entrée item with two sides combo was $ 12+. I don’t think I would come back.

The Little Beet catered lunch for my company last week, and it was delicious! We needed a to-go lunch option for our guests at the close of the meeting, and the Little Beet delivered. We ordered the boxed lunches with various proteins like salmon and steak, and the Little Beet chose the sides for us. I liked that the assorted sides were random for each protein(the steak came with several side options like quinoa or broccoli). The rice was my favorite side — it had fruit and nuts mixed in. I’ve also been on my own for lunch and I really liked the salmon tartare roll. Next time we do catering with Dusty and the Little Beet I’m excited to try more of their items — and more of their rolls :)

I was excited to try this new place but won’t be going back. It’s way more expensive than similar lunch spots in the area and just wasn’t good. I had the little beet bowl and a pellegrino, thinking that was probably their signature dish and it must be good. But it was 60% goat cheese and just not tasty. Really small, way too much dressing and just unimaginative. This little lunch cost $ 16, and the service was bad. The cashier kept mumbling something at me and I had to ask her 3 times to repeat herself(I’m not deaf, old or ESL…). I guess she was asking me if a particular order was mine, which it wasn’t. When I got mine, she rudely dropped it on the counter and it almost fell off the edge. I asked her if I could please have a bag, and she literally chucked a bag at me. Décor wasn’t anything special. Skip… head to Beefsteak instead for great healthy/veg lunch(though only in DC would someone be dumb enough to open a vegetable-focused restaurant named«beefsteak»…)

I am on a health kick, meaning no gluten, rice, starch, dairy, beans, sugar, blah blah blah. It is rare for me to find anything at a quick food place that I can eat that will actually fill me up. So keeping that in mind, I LOVE that this place exists, but it’s not as exciting as I expected it to be. It is a nice place. The staff is very friendly and seem genuinely happy to be working there. They have two levels of seating, perfect for a quick meal with a friend or two. Better suited for lunch, but I think it would make sense for a casual light dinner as well. Now, while I adore that there is so much unprocessed food on the menu, the Little Beet charges probably $ 1 – 2 more than I would be willing to pay for something I could meal prep myself. I wish they would be just a tad more creative, roasted veggies are delicious — but they are uninspired. I may be pushing my own agenda here, but what about sides like cauliflower rice? Let’s push the norms on how we eat vegetables people! There are a lot of new methods out there to explore. I absolutely believe that I’ll come back to the Little Beet again and again, I just hope it evolves with healthy eating trends to be worth the price.

Super disappointed, I was so excited about trying this place. The salmon tartare burrito was so, so bad. I ended up throwing half away. The salmon just was not good quality fish, and I simply could not stomach the big chunks of fish. The sauce was overwhelming and nauseating to say the least. I have high hopes for the future though; the rest of the menu looks good, and I’m definitely willing to give it a second try. The interior is super modern and pleasing to the eye. The prices were pretty fair for what you were getting.

My co-worker knows I love Salmon & Veggies & offered to bring me back lunch, I obliged. At some point I knew I would as he eats here at least 3x a week. Upon doing my research, I was very keen on their wholesome effort of using ingredients from vendors such as Healing Home Foods. & of course, offering an entire menu that is Gluten Free is such a rarity. I ordered the Salmon(they were kind enough to blackened it for me), portion was slightly small, yet very delicious as I drizzled a little of their sweet & chipotle sauce on it, making it even more delectable. For my sides I had the Green Beans, that were charred in a red pepper & lemon olive oil, what another tasty concoction. The Sweet Potatoes were my other choice, however it came with cheese, so I got the Ginger Carrot Soup, AMAZING! It was perfectly pureed with just the right amount of ingredients mixed together. For dessert, I had a Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie, & simply enjoyed my new lunch encounter. My entire fresh fare & healthy mid day meal cost $ 17(nice price) & I will absolutely venture in person to try their Lemon Switchel Soup & Veggie Pattie… additionally to encounter dining in. Side vegan nugget, they offer cold pressed juices, breakfast options & a few sushi rolls.

OK. So I’m a health nut and since they(whoever«they» are) took my vegan spot(Native Foods) away :-(I’ve had to find other places to go. My boss and I walked here(we work right across the street) to give it a try since all the food looked great on-line. Here’s my review: 1. We went over at roughly 1:20 pm and the line was RIDICULOUS!!! I figured that since it was a little late we’d just miss the rush. but noooooooo this place was jam packed from the time we entered til the time we left, which by the way was about 25 minutes later. This is not the«I’m just going to grab something real quick» lunch spot; which for me is very important on most days. STRIKE1 2. Get to the register. I order salmon, kale and sweet potatoes with a cookie. Yes, I knew how much the salmon was before I walked in the door, and yes, I still ordered it. My total was a little over $ 17. Enough said, STRIKE2 3. Wait for my food which took about 10 minutes, then had to wait another 5 minutes for them to go get some«sauce» that was needed for my bosses food… The person straight VANISHED! Everybody but him was coming from the back. I’m thinking, did he have to MAKE the sauce? Sheesh! Finally get her squared away and we’re back at the office. Kale was THEBOMB.COM, sweet potatoes were great after I added a little salt and pepper to them, and the salmon had no taste at all… Like seriously no seasoning ATALL, but what I could taste was the oil they cooked it with. It was very tender, which was great though. The lack of flavor to me was a downer. STRIKE3 I give this 3 stars only because that daggon cookie was baked in heaven! For those who can afford to spend $ 15 for food and have the time to deal with their lines this place is great. More power to you. It just wasn’t my cup of tea. I’m glad I did try it out, though. BTW — my boss go the tofu/mushroom roll and she said that her brown rice wasn’t done all the way and that it was just«ok».

For what it is(a healthy fast casual restaurant), The Little Beet is a solid five stars! Coming to us in DC from NYC, The Little Beet offers a menu of healthy items like a quinoa bowl to a tofu bowl to fresh soups. My wife and I ordered the kale, cauliflower leek soup, and the udon noodles with cabbage and ginger. All of this was AMAZING especially the perfectly flavored udon noodles and the very creamy soup. The Little Beet has two floors of seating from tables to booths. It’s very inviting. If the menu wasn’t enough to convince you of its health, the wall garden and décor will. The only«not-so-much healthy» item on the menu are the chocolate chip cookies from Rise Bakery.

So glad this place opened up by my work. I prefer it to Beefsteak because Beefsteak blanches their veggies whereas the Little Beet tends to roast their veggies. I got the salmon with roasted brocoli and sweet potato(about $ 14). The lunch portion was huge and I was able to split it into two smaller lunches(supplemented with afternoon snacks). I love the new veggie centric restaurants near my work — as a meat eater, I can love veggies too!

I walk this block daily so when The Little Beet popped up, I couldn’t wait to try it out — even though my first impression was«this place must be for vegans» but that changed when I saw the«chicken» graphic on the shop window(yay meat!) Environment — sleek, clean, and well organized. The menu is simple and straight forward, but if you hate veggies or clean eating, this isn’t the place for you. Staff was very down to earth but professional and VERY pleasant. I felt bad for being all in my phone(snapping pics of the place) because of how attentive they were and how distracted I was(oh, my millennial woes lol) Food — Delicious! I ordered the Veggie Pattie, Carrot Ginger Soup, Banh Mi Beet Roll, Chicken w/Broccoli & Sweet Potatoes(came to $ 34). As someone who prep cooks, this was a fresh delight as everything wasn’t batch made and the meat was still tender. I noticed a few people complained that the«char» on the veggies include some burn and I agree, out of my portion of Broccoli, about 3 pieces were burnt through and not edible, but hey, it happens! Not complaining. As for the meat, it was grilled perfectly and tender. I love the fact that it’s not seasoned more than the grill, salt, pepper and natural juices because they offer a variety of sauces to choose from — I choose chipotle and was content(though I wish I got more than 2 packs as I’m an avid sauce dipper) MOSTIMPORTANTLY — I HATE sweet potatoes because of the stringy texture, but the cashier promised I would like these and I DID! I LOVEDTHEM! The sweet potatoes are roasted w/smoked sea salt, olive oil and pecorino — PERFECT balance of sweet and salty and roasted enough to avoid the over stringy texture. Want something healthy and filling with no time to cook? The Little Beet is the place to be.

I’m so happy this little beet popped up around my hood(Dupont). It’s nestled in quite nicely between Public Bar(party party party) and Nando’s Peri Peri(protein protein protein). The little beet is healthy healthy healthy. Walking in, the cashiers are super kind and always initiates the conversation with you first. There are pre-made meals(I haven’t tried but are probably delicious) but why get one of those when you can create your own! First you select a protein(tofu, chicken, salmon, steak). Then you select 2 sides from 4 hot veggies to 4 cold. My order is Salmon with kale and green beans. Yummm. Tip #1: Don’t worry, If you don’t know what a side taste like, Ask to sample it! They’ll be more than oblige to give you a small tasting. They have their own brewed Kombucha, which isn’t as strong as the kombucha I usually drink but its pretty tasty. Tip #2: The small is $ 5 while the large is $ 5.50. Opt for the large, it is significantly bigger. Seating is ample, however I’ve seen no one sit down and eat there everytime I went. If you really want to be adventurous, there is an upstairs(I haven’t ventured there yet) but I assume there are more seats. Kudos: The plastic forks/knives/spoons rival those found in Chipotle. No more flimsy plastic silverware for me!
