TIGI Boutique Salon

I was in D.C. visiting my sister from California and in the morning, we were brainstorming things to do and when I said I wanted to get a haircut, she suggested we make an appointment to go to this salon :). I called in and asked for any slots around 5:30−6 pm, but they only had availabilities in the early afternoon or around 4 pm, so I booked two slots, one for me and one for my sister. My sister said she had gotten her hair cut by Miriam before and she was very happy with it because Miriam listened to exactly what my sister wanted (just a trim despite the amount of dead ends she has because she wanted to keep the length), and advised my sister that the dead ends will still be there but went ahead with it and my sister still loved it.
This time around: we came in around 3:50 and Jack helped me out. I told him I wanted long layers and we talked about how I haven’t cut my hair in about a year and I don’t really like going to salons. I have really long hair and my experience with salons is always getting super short hair at the end that I didn’t ask for + bangs. Jack took really good care of my hair and was really patient with his methods to make sure everything was even and smooth. He joked saying that my hair needs to be good if it’s gonna be a year until my next hair cut LOL.
At the end, he blow dried my hair and I LOVE IT. ^_​_​_​_​^ My hair is not too short, my cut is flattering, and you betcha that I walked outta there flaunting my new ‘do :D. If I ever visit my sister again, I would definitely go back here and request an appointment with Jack!

I came in with red hair with blonde roots after I had a at-​home dye session go wrong. Miriam took me in for color correction and saved me. She spent 3 hours at the end of a Friday to fix my hair and give me the perfect shade of dirty blonde that I wanted to get me back to my natural color. She made sure not to compromise the texture of my hair but still gave me great color results. She also gave me a fair price for color correction!

I’ve been going to TIGI since i arrived in DC area in 2008. With a few exceptions I have had Abraham is my regular stylist and couldn’t be happier. For the past two years i have been living a bit farther from the Salon, about 60 – 70 minutes, but i will still travel for the excellent haircut. I’ll admin, my hair isnt very complicated but I do like it a very particular way which Abraham has always done perfectly.
I have recommended them to all of my friends and family in the area and I would highly recommend them for anyone else looking for a good haircut in the DC area, they are very friendly and very reasonably priced!

Got my hair done by Miriam. Very happy with the results. She was very friendly and made sure I was happy with the end result. It’s been a few months and will be going back for a trim and touch up. Her hands are magical, my hair has grown so much since the last trim! DC prices are on the higher end but here I don’t mind because the price is definitely worth it.
Update: went back for a trim and to tone my color. Again, Miriam did a fabulous job!

I moved to the DC area two years ago and have been looking for someone who knows what to do with my hair. It’s thick and damaged from the sun. I’ve been to plenty of pricey places they have always seem to make my hair worse. Then I’ve tried cheaper places that just do the bare minimum. I got my hair done by Jack. I highly recommend him because he did not just blindly go with what I thought I wanted which was low lights he actually recommended I go back to my base color. Then come back at a later date which I will be doing for sure! Then he got me the correct products for the upkeep of my hair. I can’t wait to go back. I know nothing about hairstyles and what looks good so I’m glad I finally found someone who can be honest, and not just keep telling me I look great no matter what.

Overall, I was disappointed. I had called in to get hairstyling and perm, and when I came in, I was just given a cut. I was told by Abrahim that the salon doesn’t do perms on hair my length, to which another stylist told both of us that she does perms on such hair length. So either the receptionist who scheduled me ignored my request and put me up with a stylist who did not do perms or the stylist in charge of my hair did not want to do perms and told me that the salon does not do perms. Honestly, I could have gotten this haircut at a cheap barber’s shop for $ 15. And on another note, I left with so much of my own hairbits from the cut all over my pants and top. I am not sure if that is where your hairbits are supposed to end up especially in a professional salon.

I went to TIGI after receiving a disastrous haircut from another salon. Abraham did wonderful work. I now go to Abraham regularly and am always satisfied. The salon is friendly, too.

My husband and I recently moved to the area and I’ve been looking for a place to get my hair done. After looking through reviews from Georgetown, DuPont, Tenleytown up to Friendship Heights I came across this gem of a place. Reviews were great and it was located only 2 blocks away from us. Jack did a fantastic job! I love how healthy my hair looks and how it perfectly fits my face. He didn’t rush the process and listened to my requests with genuine understanding. I truly appreciate the care he took in making sure each cut was perfect. I’ll be back again when it’s time for another cut! Thanks, Jack!

Get your hair done by Mariam. I have curly hair, and after having horrible haircuts numerous times, I resorted to weekend trips up to NYC just to get my hair cut at Devachan (famous salon in Soho specializing in curly hair cuts). After complaining about the hassle of getting a haircut, my friend recommended Mariam to me. I didn’t have to explain to Mariam the woes of curly hair, she just knew. Mariam made the curls cascade down effortlessly. The color she mixed was rich and made my eyes pop. Loved what she did so much, that I splurged and got Keratin by Mariam, and now I go every 4 – 6 months for a Keratin treatment, too. There’s nobody else in DC I’d trust to do my hair.

Came here after moving to DC and having a really hard time finding a salon that was reasonably priced but great quality, however Mariam was absolutely amazing. Quick, thorough, my haircut looks beautiful and my long layers were not choppy at all (which is what I was afraid of). Recommend her and the salon to anyone looking for a great but reasonable place to get your hair done!

Miriam is experienced and highly skilled, convenient, reliable, funny, and personable, reasonably priced… too good to be true. I am so lucky!

I went to TIGI yesterday for the first time. Mariam cut my hair and I must say that it is one of the best haircuts I have ever had done. She fixed all the wrongs with my previous cut and left me looking great and feeling like a new person. I really love what she did to my hair. I cannot recommend her highly enough. She is talented and a really fun person to be around.

Miriam was friendly, understanding, and so accommodating! I am new to the hair color game and was so shockingly happy at the results of my root touch up! Would recommend to anyone who’s looking for a top notch job.

After 3 years of looking for a hair stylist that I like, I’ve finally found him! I found TIGI on Unilocal and they had great reviews. My appointment was with Abraham and I told him I was looking for a shorter look and to lighten up my dark brown hair with some lighter brown throughout. After our consultation, he did what he does best and for the first time after a haircut, I loved it! I will definitely be going back and have already told my friends to as well!

As we speak I am getting my monthly cut from Abraham. I have been a consistent client for the past 5 years. He is the only hair stylist I have gone to since living in DC. Abraham is skilled in his technique, friendly, and adaptive. Adaptive in that my hair style has evolved and we have a great relationship.
Aside from Abraham, the new space is gorgeous, friendly staff and very affordable prices. I feel like I am getting a huge steal for the high quality work.

I have been seeing Jack for about 4 years now and I refuse to let anyone else touch my hair. He listens to my requests and works with me to figure out a good style for my needs. In the past, hairdressers have ignored my requests (short hair, low effort upkeep) and I never left a salon fully satisfied. When I see Jack, the finished product always makes me feel the most «me».
His work is impeccable. People have stopped me on the street to take pictures of it and I always tell them who I see.
The other hairdressers are always friendly and happy to see me when I come in for appointments and I have never left TIGI unsatisfied.

Where to start… TIGI salon holds a very special place in my heart. You feel welcome from the moment you walk into the place. Tahir, Miriam, Abraham and all those other cool cats are genuinely happy to see you walk through their doors. Their new location has an upbeat and hip feel (have always loved the music they play) that immediately puts you in a good mood.
OH, and they give you an amazing haircut for a bargain to go along with it. It has come to the point where I have established the haircut I would like each time and no words are necessary because Tahir already knows what I want.
I have gone to TIGI for the last 7 years and I would never consider trying another salon. In fact, I did once and it felt like I was cheating on a spouse. Needless to say, definitely worth checking out especially at their new location with more parking/​access.

As an African American with natural hair, getting an even and vibrant color job is always a concern. But he always proves my concerns wrong!
