Description

Specialties

Unity Woods Yoga Center has fostered health, awareness and serenity through yoga for more than 35 years. Unity Woods teaches yoga in the Iyengar tradition, a style of yoga founded by yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar that emphasizes careful alignment and detailed awareness. Our teachers have undergone a rigorous course of study, training and apprenticeship, and have many years of teaching experience. They are adept at modifying the practice for each individual.

Unity Woods’ mission is to offer uncompromising, expert yoga instruction. We offer classes on a session system (10 – 14 weeks per session), with a syllabus that builds from class to class. Students are encouraged to develop a home practice to apply what they learn in class.

In addition to regular classes in asana and pranayama, Unity Woods offers reduced-price weekly community classes plus workshops and short courses covering various special interests. Unity Woods founder John Schumacher also leads a quarterly discussion group on topics related to the practice of yoga.

For local residents who are newcomers to Unity Woods, your first class is free. Props are provided at no charge for all classes.
