Excellent inspiration for human growth! I go for Advice for Life on Sundays and appreciate the intellectual rigor and lightness of teacher’s spirit. I don’t consider myself Buddhist, but find meditations and teachings to be stimulating and soothing, allowing me to set a positive intention for the week and improving my life daily. Highly recommend to anyone.

If you’re looking for a welcoming place to calm your mind this is where you need to go. I had always been interested in Buddhism and wandered into this little gem one day and have continued to go regularly since. Classes are always enjoyable and they even hold workshops sometimes on different subjects. Check em out

Was really let down by this place. I was excited about the group meditation but once i got there, the $ 12 charge followed by meditation not being the focus really irritated me. Won’t be returning.

This is a great place in the heart of the city to get authentic Tibetan Buddhist teachings in clear and plain English. The teacher and all the practitioners are all down to earth, approachable and friendly. If you are interested in meditation from a spiritual and practical perspective, this is definitely a place you’ll want to check out.

I really enjoyed the Thursday night teaching. It was clear, concise and easy to follow. I felt welcomed and enjoyed good conversation with several people during my visit. The class began with a short guided meditation and then a teaching on how we are all connected to one another. We had the opportunity to break for tea and discuss and then returned for commentary, questions and answers and a final meditation. I found the class to be relaxing and informative and the teacher was very straight forward, to the point and had a great sense of humor. I look forward to visiting the center again soon.

I have been to the Vajrayogini Buddhist Center a few times. I would go more if my schedule permitted it. It is the place to go if you are inclined toward Buddhist tendencies and you want to learn a practice that brings you peace in your every day life. The teachings at the Center are designed to help give perspective when faced with personal struggles. I found them very helpful and I still draw upon them when I am in a tight situation. As for the other reviewer’s criticism, clearly he or she is unfamiliar with Tibeten Buddhism. The Vajrayogini Buddhism Center practices Kadampa Buddhism, which was founded by a Tibeten Monk who brought the teachings to the western world. This means that the monks and nuns wear the traditional clothing and they draw upon the wisdom of the Tibeten deities. I encourage others to go and check it out. Know that you will be learning a sacred and ancient practice and that will reveal truths that will help you see things from a higher perspective. Also know that the teachers, nuns, and monks there follow the traditions closely, so you might see saffron and yellow robes on white people. Personally, I found that beautiful.

We were looking for a nondenominational meditation center with an emphasis on technique. We found the oddity that is VBC through Unilocal.First, everyone sat in chairs and the meditation leader sat on an elevated dias — whoo! The leader happened to be a very respectable woman, except that she was fully caucasian and dressed in saffron and yellow robes that monks wear. For sure, this I have never seen, esp in the old kung fu movies and it was a radical departure as any I’ve ever seen (typically nuns wear grey). She had a raspy voice — not soothing at all — and cackled a few times and cracked some jokes.
The session began with a solicitation for cash so that the VBC could build a temple somewhere other than in Dupont Circle. There was also some talk in the middle about the great monk so-​and-​so, after whom this school was founded.
Overall, it was definitely not what we were looking for. Cultish — yes. Goofy — yes. Done up — totally. Also, you could hear the traffic honking outside. Recommend going elsewhere peeps.
