This place is a gem, there are no drinks or food, just a quiet place to plant yourself and converse with other gentlemen. Cigar selection is quite nice, and they have an out of the way closet for your jacket. Need a place to read in quiet, a place to enjoy a little peace? Well welcome to the closest thing to an old London Gentleman’s club (If you think that means a strip club I cannot be of service to you) there is.

Great service, great staff, great cigars, and great atmosphere. No food, no drinks, no problem. If they don’t have the cigar you’re looking for, they’ll help you find one that’s comparable.

I came here in my search to find top quality cigars to give a friend. Though they didn’t have Cohiba esplendido (no one in the US has it, I think), I was able to find and buy something very similar in term of taste/​flavor, all thanks to the employee’s expertise and superior customer service! Quality service + quality product = quality review!

Draper’s is definitely the première tobacco smoking spot in DC. They have a great staff! Ted, Tak, and Juan are always knowledgeable and with only the slightest information about your tastes they can recommend something that your pallet is sure to enjoy.

Best in the business! Been going to Drapers since the old location and aside from that and the décor nothing has changed. These guys know their cigars and have one of those inventories where you may not want to go in when you’re not sure what you want. If that happens though, any of the crew there can help you find what you’re looking for based on what you typically like to light up.

When I think of W Curtis Draper cigar business I think «Touch of Class». This is by far the classiest and most upscale cigar emporium’s that I have been to in the U.S. The staff here knows their cigars. The selection is definitely top notch.
W Curtis Draper is located in the heart of downtown Washington D.C. The prices are a little higher than most cigars stores however the selection is abundant and should find cigars of great quality at any price point. Definitely come here for your cigar needs as you will not be disappointed. Enjoy.

Great selection of cigars. Knowledgeable and friendly service. Prices seem a bit higher than some of it’s competitors but it is certainly located in a high rent district. I recommend it if you are looking for a cigar shop in the district where the staff is happy to discuss their cigars and make recommendations without an arrogant attitude or being rushed.

Selection never disappoints. Not as cheap as Jrs or some of the surrounding Tobacco shops but the staff is always pleasant and never a crowd. Also great if your looking for pipes and pipe tobacco

Explained I was a novice and looking to understand things a bit better, the salesman Tak — with some awesome SF cuflinks — was not just a salesguy, but a former customer and hugely a knowledgable fan of cigars (good start)!
He was great, never seemed impatient as I kept peppering him with question after question. Showed me a number — they have a HUGE selection here — of different kinds of cigars.
Ended up smoking a nice Padron with a maduro wrap that was box pressed (square shape — and got several others on his recommendation (the Padron was excellent btw).
He must have helped me for at least 40 minutes or more and was extremely helpful. It also didn’t go unnoticed, that he Didn’t seem to steer me towards the more expensive end, but instead got me a nice variety of flavors — apparently, he said 40% of the cigar’s flavor can come from the wrap; more if it’s more narrow (who knew?!).

As a regular at Draper’s Bethesda outpost I finally had an opportunity to stop in the not so new downtown location. Great selection of stogies of course. As a pipe smoker, too, I was very pleased to find an excellent selection of pipes, tobacco and accessories. Kudos. I’ll be sure to light one up next time in the neighborhood.

An exceptional cigar store, and the finest in DC. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and approachable. The store is well-​stocked with cigars and accessories, and in a perfect location downtown. Tough to find somewhere to sit and smoke your purchase, but that is half the fun when you do find a spot to relax and enjoy your cigar.

First time cigar smoker and it was great. This was a Dad’s Night Out and my youngest son’s friend father set it up here.
The interior was very calm and roomy. Comfortable leather chairs, larger flat screen tv, and large window. The place makes me want to have the same type of setting for my home nut smaller.
The staff here were informative and friendly. So I can’t remember the name of the co-​owner but he told us about how he got started in the business. We chat about footballs, baseball and the history of cigars in the DC area. We smoked, drank brandy and chatted for about three hour before we left to go to a cigar bar.
I will definitely come back here when the moods hits me.

I’ve been coming here for about 3 years now. At first, I wasn’t sure about this place, a bit intimidating service (when once I asked about the taste of a particular cigar, the guys said it tastes like «cigars») but quickly realized that the service was «old school» and the environment was as friendly as it gets.
Over the many times I’ve been coming here, I’ve finally settled into a niche and realized that, among other things, service might seem cold but is actually quite warm — they don’t want to bum rush you or follow you around, but rather, they want you to just «be» and have a good time. If you have a question (taste of cigars aside), they’re more than happy to help you out with a smile and a joke or two. But the best part is that you can just relax and have a good time.
Of all the cigar lounges I’ve been to in the US, I have to say that they also make the best recommendations. On several occasions they steered me away from the more expensive cigars and made interesting suggestions by simply listening. If you’re a newbie, this place is a gem — well, a gem for everyone that is. I won’t talk bad about any particular place (I’m looking at you, the tobacco shop in Georgetown), but I guess with Draper’s, I really don’t have to.
All around good people, helpful suggestions and friendly customers who all seem to be hiding from their wives and kids.

When I travel for work I always try to buy my husband a few cigars to thank him for the extra work I know he’s doing at home. Hence, I get to see a lot of cigar stores around the country, and I get personal experience with how they handle females who don’t have a clue about cigars. 5 stars to these professionals for not missing a beat!
These guys were respectful and took the time to mine my brain for some names of cigars my husband likes so I could buy him something that was in the vein of his cigar preferences but new to him. They had no trouble staying in the budget I had in mind. Total bill was $ 45 for 4 cigars.
When I arrived home with their «smooth and not too spicy» picks he was VERY happy, saying he’d heard good things about this place and the cigars they picked were ones he’d read about but not had a chance to try yet. He also owned other cigars from one of the mfrs so I know they were right on track and he wasn’t just being nice about it.
Wishing I could give 6 stars… they gave me an old cigar box to pack them in so they wouldn’t get crushed on the trip back. That’s service guys, see you again next year when I’m back in DC.
