Welcome to the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery. Since 1990, we have represented the leading edge in laser technology. The Institute was the first private practice in the nation that was dedicated exclusively to the delivery of advanced laser skin treatments.

Meet the Business Owner

Tina A.

Business Owner

Dr. Tina S. Alster is the founding director of the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery and is a clinical professor at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Alster received her B.S. and M.D. degrees from Duke University where she was graduated magna cum laude and elected to Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She was one of ten students selected by her university for inclusion in Who’s Who in American College and Universities. She interned at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania followed by completion of a dermatology residency at Yale University and a specialized 1-​year laser surgery fellowship in Boston. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Alster has organized and lectured at numerous laser surgery courses and medical meetings worldwide.

Her research with lasers has focused primarily on the treatment of birthmarks, scars, and photodamaged skin about which she has conducted many of the earliest clinical and histologic studies.
