As I write this, the right side of my face is numb from getting my first-​ever cavity filled by Dr. Burke, so you have to imagine he’s pretty good if I’m still giving him 4 stars. It didn’t hurt at all. I was actually surprised when he was done, it was so fast.
The practice is pretty high tech — digital x-​rays and a fancy new water pick instead of the standard tooth polisher. They take a lot of insurance. The people are pretty nice, too. Yeah, sometimes there’s a wait, but, in general, if you work in Farragut this is a good choice for your dentist.

A new patient, already I’m impressed with Dr. Burke’s knowledge, accommodation, and dedication. Dr. Burke is a straight-​shooter that tells it like it is, puts together a solid game plan, and executes. This is an honest, hardworking man who loves his work, and it shows. I am very thankful to have found a damn good dentist, and I highly recommend him.

I really like Dr. Burke and his office. I had a really bad experience with a dental office not being honest about what I needed done to my teeth, (I floss every day and brush at least twice a day and somehow had 2 cavities. The previous office gave me fillings and then chipped on of my teeth. I found two years later from my child dentist I did not even need the fillings!) so I am very hesitant with new dentists. I told him about my experience and he took 15 minutes to give a breakdown of most of my teeth and any issues.
I needed a root canal (because of the chipped tooth from previous dentist) and he showed me my x-​rays and explained EXACTLY why I needed it done. He also explained how I can make sure the insurance company pays as much as possible for the surgery.
His staff are also really friendly as well. I highly recommend him!

I just had a cleaning performed by another dentist: My gums are healthy and in perfect shape, and there is no erosion of my jaw bone whatsoever. Dr. Burke’s recommendation that I have a deep cleaning procedure done was bogus and, in my opinion, just a way to milk me for more money.

If I could give this man a zero I would. I started off really liking him. His staff is really nice and so is he. Then, they were 45 minutes LATE for my second appointment which was scheduled on my lunch break. I had to email my boss and apologize. THEN they told me I had to pay up front for my filing $ 500 and that the insurance company would pay me back AKA he doesn’t want to wait for his money so he puts out a 20 something $ 500 until insurance pays. Thanks. THEN the insurance company tells me he should have only charged $ 280 and I was responsible for $ 146 and they pay $ 133. So, I find myself out $ 200. I called Dr. Burke’s office who gave me the run around three times. Now they are claiming they don’t have anything from the insurance company so we will have to wait. It’s been a month. I need my money. This is such bad business. I will NOT see this man again. And if I don’t get my money back, he will be sued for insurance fraud. You people will need to find a new dentist. Sorry.

I really like going to Dr. Burke. Not only does he take my CareFirst Dental insurance, but I also enjoyed the way I was treated by him and his staff.
I also like the fact that you can actually see outside unlike most medical offices in the city.
The one caveat with his practice is that his building is located next to Dickey’s Frozen Custard and I have yet NOT to go there after a visit to the dentist.

Save yourself the time, pain, and germ exposure. Avoid.

After a horrible experience with Connecticut Avenue Dental, I was looking for someone to clean my teeth — and I am so happy to have clean teeth! The office is nice and clean and really convenient to the metro. I had to wait a bit but that was only because the hygienist had called in sick and he was doing the work himself.
Dr. Burke was very nice and as the others have said, had some conversation with me and gave me a rundown of what he was going to do before he did it. The receptionist and assistant were really nice as well. I haven’t had any major work done but as far as preventative care I am very satisfied.
It has been hard trying to find a good dentist in the city, and if you are having trouble as well, check out their office.

I really like Dr. Burke, the entire office seems really accommodating and I have never had a problem with them. The main receptionist, Rae, is extremely friendly and always has a smile on.
Dr. Burke also frequently makes great (read: non-​awkward) conversation, and is a pleasure to have around. He makes sure that you are okay (good for nervous people) before proceeding forward with any procedure.
If you have the choice — I would recommend him.

Dr. William Burke is a good dentist. When he sees you in the dental room, he’ll greet and have a small conversation with you before working on your teeth.
I know that many people just simply hate dentists. But Dr. Burke does a wonderful job making you feel comfortable. He’s the best dentist I’ve had when it comes to injecting novocaine. He’s very gentle.
I give him 4 stars for 2 reasons:
1. He has about 4 rooms for each patient. However, the rooms are not completely walled off. So, you could, if you’re really that nosy, glance over to the next patient over and see what Dr. Burke or an assistant working on something. You can definitely hear what’s going on in the next room. So, that can make some of you really nervous.
2. We started off great but somehow a misunderstanding/​a typo/​a mishap or whatever, really messed up a billing. It threw me off just a little, financially. So, I suggest that you call your dental insurance to see how much you have left (of a quota) or how much you’re covered for a procedure.
Otherwise, Dr. Burke is a pretty good dentist. His staff are really friendly.
