Greg’s Place

My brother suggested Greg’s place. It’s been in wloo for a while but in a weird place so I never considered going until someone recommended it. We walked in & there was about 4 – 5 girls, hostesses & servers huddled around the end of the bar. The hostess asked how many in our group. She then said «sit wherever you want» and she went back to her conversation. It was super dark inside. I know it’s labeled restaurant/​night club but it was only 5:30 so being super dark was kind of weird. The mirrors on the one wall was kind of an outdated concept also. Our waitress was the same girl from the commercial. She was very polite & attentive. She made sure to refill drinks & made sure we had everything we needed. She seemed to work hard & stay busy while the group of hostesses congregated at the end of the bar. Maybe it’s not a big deal to some people but I’m in the business of customer service so it is was annoying to me. I was excited to see that they had cevapi on the menu! A Bosnian dish consisting of 2 fried pieces of bread with links of skinless sausage in between. Usually we get this from a Bosnian bar downtown. I’m sorry to say — we will continue to get it at the bar. The cevapi at Greg’s was bad. The bread was mushy & had no taste at all. The sausage was also very bland. It came with sour cream but not the red sauce that you get at the bar. I don’t know what it is but for me cevapi isn’t the same without it. My husband had the ribeye & said it was ok. He paid extra for mushrooms– that were obviously from a can & microwaved. Mac & cheese tasted like velveta. Salad was a bar salad. The check came & what we paid was way too pricy for crappy bar food. The only good part of the entire visit was the customer service we got from the waitress. 2 stars go to her & only her. Will not be coming back or recommending to anyone.

Wow! We had a party of 25. Everyone loved their food. They start you with free flaky pastry filled with meat and spices. Their ribeye is tender and flavorful, and don’t even start me on their beef brisket! Kids meals were humongous! I would eat here at least once a week if I lived here. On a four day trip I chose this place 3 times.

Menu had a lot of good and varied choices — something for everyone. Ribs were fantastic — good taste and texture. BBQ sauce wasn’t too sweet or spicy, just right. Baked beans had a good smoked bacon or ham flavor.

This is a good place to eat. It can get a bit pricey though. My boyfriend and I always get the smoked chicken nachos. They are delicious!
We usually get takeout. The one time we did dine in, our waitress was inattentive and slightly rude. We were virtually the only ones there.
Pretty good food!

Tried Gregs Place for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We were given good reviews by friends so we thought we would try.
First off the service was good. The staff was very nice.
Second the place was very clean. It was kind of a weird layout being a night club and a restaurant. We were seated on the dance floor but they have a carpet they lay out over the floor. It was very dark in there.
It wasn’t very full. Maybe four to five other tables of people.
There was no kids menu for breakfast. So I ended up getting my son a huge breakfast meal when a pancake and one egg would have done. I guess I could have ordered a la cart but would have probably been same amount.
I had French toast. I thought it was extremely eggy. My husband had biscuits and gravy, hash browns and bacon. The hash browns were really greesy and not crispy at all. Bacon was done but not crispy. He liked the biscuits and gravy.
For three of us for breakfast it was over $ 30. A bit much I thought.
I would only consider coming here for lunch or dinner again. Not breakfast.

Have you ever had one of those dinners where it was fantastic — and then you go back with friends and it’s anything but? This IS NOT that place. I’ve come back here over and over with other people and have not been disappointed. They even have a smoker that they have added to the tool chest. This is really good food and you owe it to your taste buds to give it a try.

Food is good. Large variety, staff is good. Decent prices, plenty of seating. Best ribs hands down in town

Food was easily hit and miss. The fries are amazing, however if you order a burger they will ask you how you want it cooked, and promptly cook it wrong. The wait staff did not seem very friendly nor very excited to be there. All-​in-​all, if you want decent food to go with a beer it’s not bad. I won’t be returning any time soon.

Don’t be fooled by the location! I was hunting for something to eat after hanging in Waterloo for the first time, and holy hell the food was great.
DO ORDER: the jalapeño poppers! Those were the greatest I’ve ever had, the sweet potato mash was also incredible
DON’T: the pita sandwich. It’s HUGE, but pretty bland and greasy.

Location. Location. Location. Greg is not my uncle. this is a well run business with great food and drink options. start with the Greg’s scalp pretty our the nachos supreme. wins Are real wings. the jalapeño poppers Devine. The anchors piled a foot high. great bar staff. Rustle. tacos rock. Eat.

Well that was a bad experience after I was excited to go. All the waitresses were huddled in a corner and after 10 minutes I heard «do you even know what he wants» and a grudgingly «I’ll get it». Too bad. No drink or anything. Just left. The one server who finally came over did apologize but I was over it. First ever review on Unilocal and I travel weekly for work.

Good food and service. Ribs literally fell off the bone. Great fries and salads too. The sampler platter was huge.

This place was an unexpected find. We ordered the sliders which were pretty good and big enough to be an entrée for two. Son ordered the full rack of ribs which was about 18 inches long. He declared them excellent but impossible to finish. The husband and I ordered a burek apiece. One would have been adequate for both of us. We left with four boxes of leftover food. Think ahead and order order half as much or share with someone.

Great variety and spectacular ribs! Food definately out does the bar look. Friendly staff!

What a nice find! The location, space, lighting, and staff was really the only questionable part… BUT the BBQ made up for it!!! So delish! Coming back again!!!

Been here several times now and I am consistently impressed with the food. I have tried the bbq, many of the appetizers (the nachos are huge and especially delicious), but my favorite is the po boy sandwich. We did check it out for breakfast this morning and I had my first bad experience. Sausage links weren’t quite cooked through and the portions were odd. They did remedy the sausage link issue, however, so points for that. I would encourage everyone to try Greg’s Place as it is a great addition to our community and I would like to see it stay!

We had breakfast; good service, good food, and ok atmosphere. If you’re a bacon person you’ll be pleasantly surprised; if you’re an egg conisiour the basted eggs were perfect; now I don’t normally order pancakes, but these were worthy of the purchase. Value was exceptional for the quantity. We would definitely come back.

Stopped by at about 730 on a fri night. Only a couple empty tables. Well staffed. Delicious food!!! Ribs fell off the bone. Very meaty and tender. Great flavor. Gregs Sampler included chicken tenders, awesome jalapeño poppers and delicious chicken wings! Dinner salads were very fresh, lots of goodies on the salad. Service was fast and friendly. Will definately be back.

I have always had good experiences here. Breakfast can be slow but worth it.
I am a wing expert. They serve 12 whole wings here which is really 24 wings for $ 12. Any flavor you want and if you ask. the cook can make as spicy as you like.
Service has always been good.

AWESOME! SUCH A SHOCK!!! had breakfast… COFFEE was best ever. big cup… great taste. Real tasting big PCs. Of Bacon, scrambled eggs good… pancakes waaaay good!!! Served like high end restaurant. we both ate for less than $ 17​.00​.So nice and clean… new…have a state of the art looking dance floor. and Bar… I really am the hardest to please and worst critic soooo this is saying signing when they get my approval… lol. Hard to see from road… sign hard to see… but you will soon find it for all the cars around it.:-)
