Closed?! Oh, if I’d only sorted reviews by date when I updated. Just called them, craving something saag-ish, and no dice :( So sad! I think there’s that once place that’ll deliver from Cambridge, but I don’t remember which… awww. Bummed.

We’ve been getting takeout from here for a few years now and have always had a great experience. The kashmiri naan is AWESOME. We always get great food, it always tastes the same and is fairly priced. Wanted to try somewhere new we always drive by in Belmont Center and ICK… Lazziz is 10x better. This is my spot for Indian and will be until it’s gone or I move!

To go order of chicken saag, green salad, and Roti. The food tasted good, but the chicken was poor quality, with both dark and white meat as well as a decent amount of fat. After surgically dissecting the chicken into someting I wanted to eat, I enjoyed the rest of the meal

Food = 3.5 star Service = 1 star This is one of those places that just makes you want to scream. The food is actually pretty good. Others have done a better job at reviewing it than I could, so I’m not going to waste the time of anyone who is reading this. I have gone to this restaurant four different times for the lunch buffet. Part of the reason is because I love Indian food. The other reason is that much of my time is spent in Watertown Square. Here’s the shocking thing: the service has been nearly identical every time I’ve gone there. Therefore, the score for this restaurant is the average of all four times. And if I had to give you the breakdown for each time I’ve gone there, it would be the same score. The service is abysmal. Three of the times I went there, I and a friend were sitting at one of only three tables occupied. The place is usually dead for lunch. Maybe it’s because the buffet is a bit expensive, but I know a lot of people in that area who have no problem forking over $ 11 for a great buffet. And the food is worth the money. Each time I bring someone there, I have to prep them with three facts. First, the waiters are nice but they don’t refill your drinks. I have ordered Coca-Cola every time I’ve gone there, and never has the waitstaff refilled it or the empty water glass next to it. Second, they seem to hate clearing empty plates for the buffet. Last week I told my friend that I was going to see how many empty plates we could stack up before they cleared them. We got to four, and the only reason they cleared them then is that my friend suggested that we try to recreate the Leaning Tower of Pisa with the plates to add an element of danger to the lunch. When you have four plates barely balancing, it creates a visual effect that’s impossible to ignore(especially if you are part of a lazy waitstaff that doesn’t want to clean bits of food off the floor when the plates fall). Third, if you wait for the bill, you better turn that 45-minute lunch break into a 2-hour one. Every time I go there, I have to walk to the back of the restaurant to pay for my bill. It’s not a long walk, but it’s annoying. And the guy who takes my money never apologizes. This makes me think that this is a common occurrence at this place. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that if this restaurant put me in charge of the waitstaff for two weeks, I could completely turn them around. Then again, this place has set the bar so low that the only way it could be lower is if customers also were required to clean their own dishes. Here is the problem. They don’t have one person who monitors the dining area. There has always been more than one waiter when I’ve gone there. But the moment they give you your complimentary Nan, they disappear instantaneously. It’s the only part of the meal that’s «magical». This place actually looks classy. But with such awful service, I’d be far happier if they let me refill my own water and soda, as well as bus my own dishes, and then I wouldn’t have to include a tip. If this restaurant could just get their waitstaff in line, the results could be amazing. Watertown Square has no place like it. Then again, maybe that’s why the waitstaff is so complacent.

I just got back to my office after getting take out from these guys. After feverishly opening the container of tiki masla and stuggling with the container of rice, the foods awesome! I had such an awful craving for indian and boy did this satisfy it! Everyone in the office is popping their heads around the corner saying wow what smells so good! But for me it was the customer service that really made this trip great. I walked in and it was pretty much dead. Which makes me sad cause the place is good and adorable. The two guys seemed waiting for me and made small talk while they found my order. They accidentally gave me the dinner portion, which was 14 dollars. After explaining that i was an idiot and forgot to specify which one i had wanted, the young man charged me for the lunch size! It was so nice and I walked out saying that I will deffinatly be back!

So why did I go back after giving one star? If you live in Watertown, you know that there are not a lot of delivery places other than pizza. I know if I call and it’s under 45 minutes, it will be fine. If it’s more and they seem frantic, I pass knowing it will probably be bad and wrong. So it’s back in my delivery circuit. and I can expect it to be decent and a couple of times it was very good.

I was a little skeptical when we arrived at Lazziz on a Friday night at 7 pm and nobody else was there, but we went with it. It ended up filling up gradually during our meal, which was comforting. The food is good, not great. I tried«chilly» chicken, chicken tikka masala, garlic nan and papdum, all were good. Prices were reasonable, service was fast and friendly. Try it out if you are craving Indian food near Watertown!

What a gem in Watertown Square! I am normally not a big fan of buffets in general b/c the food has been sitting out and doesn’t seem as fresh as something made to order. I have been living in Watertown for over a year now, within a 15 minute walk of this place, and have only gotten here today. I can’t believe what I’ve been missing out on! I’m 6.5 months pregnant and have been craving Indian food for weeks now. I didn’t feel like heading to Allston/Brighton or Kenmore and finally decided to give Lazziz a try. I had been hesitant to try this place b/c it always seems to be empty whenever I pass by the place. I was the first customer to arrive this Friday morning/afternoon, and they were still in the process of finishing cooking the entrees for the buffet station. What a spread! There were six different entrée options, including their daily regulars — chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken. I was told those two chicken dishes are served daily and that they rotated the other four entrée items. Aside from the entrée items, they had pakoras, mini egg rolls, two dessert options(doughnut looking things submerged in a syrup), salad, and the traditional condiments that you see at Indian restaurants, including raita. The chicken tikka masala was good, not great. I’ve had better, and think that Gourmet India and Kashmir does a better job of it. The chicken tikka masala had more of a neutral taste as opposed to other places that have more of a tomato flavor, spice, or punch to it. However, what you really come here for is the tandoori chicken — OMG, with a a little spritz of lemon juice, it was mighty tasty. I don’t usually order or eat tandoori chicken b/c it’s usually overcooked and dried out. However, they do an excellent job of it here at Lazziz. The chicken is still tender and juicy! Regarding the naan, the reason why it takes a while for the server to bring it to you is b/c the naan is made to order once you arrive. If they made a bunch and left them on the buffet station, the naan would be cold and stale. Two thumbs up for the head chef at Lazziz for delivering the freshest food possible. Someone in that kitchen really knows how to cook and cares about how the food is presented. I would certainly come back again. With tax, the buffet lunch was $ 11.75 + $ 3 tip — definitely worth it and would certainly return. It seems that they do a pretty good lunch buffet business. During the course of my meal, they had about 30 customers coming through either for dine-in or take-out. I asked the waiter if they serve the same items on Fridays, and he said that I could always call ahead to see what they are making. I would love to come back and try their samosas and baingan bartha.

Very average Indian food. The only standout items I tried were the Samosas(which are huge and very tasty) and the Lamb Kadhai. I’d avoid the Chicken Madras and Kashmiri Nan(both were below average) but everything else was just alright.

Years ago, before Donohue’s expanded, there was a little Indian restaurant on Bigelow in Watertown called Taste of India. It was great, and I was sad to see it go. But then Belmont Center got an Indian restaurant(Kashish), so it was good to have Indian nearby again. Then Lazziz opened in Watertown Square several years ago. I finally tried it for a lunch buffet, and I’ll never go back again. There were only two tables occupied by diners when we(party of 2) arrived during prime lunch hour time, but we had to wait while the host-slash-waiter got a table«ready» for us. We watched him clear dirty plates, put them in a bus tray, and then — with the same hands that just touched dirty plates — grab our silverware and napkins. Then we watched him get paper towels and a bottle of Windex to clean the table.(Did he put the silverware on the table before or after the Windex, I wonder?) We weren’t offered any menus when we were finally seated; he asked us if we wanted to have the buffet. Since we were pressed for time, we opted for the buffet. I stuck with the basics … vegetable rice, saag paneer, chicken tiki masala, and some greasy(but of course tasty) pakoras. Meanwhile, our spotted glasses sat dry until after we started eating; at that point the waiter/host came by with a pitcher and asked if we would like water? A basket of naan showed up halfway through the meal — it would have been nice to have it earlier to go with the food from the buffet. The worst part was looking around at the unoccupied tables that had not been cleared of previous diners’ plates … the table next to ours and behind ours were covered with dirty plates, utensils, and napkins. For the dining room to be so neglected made me wonder about the condition of the kitchen. So the food was just OK, but the deal-breaker was the lack of cleanliness. I didn’t get sick in the days following, but the«yuck» factor still remains. Can’t recommend this restaurant … though a recent writeup in the Watertown Patch says«the place may be sold to a new Indian restaurant owner in the near future.» Perhaps the new ownership will better attend to the cleanliness issues.

Note: I only tried Lazziz for take-out. I tried samosas, panir pakoras, and chicken tikka masala. I admit, I thought it was all good and flavorful and a satisfactory portion size, but unfortunately I found a couple hairs in my food, which I cannot forgive…

The food is delicious but the service is some of the worst I’ve ever experienced. Since this place is always empty you’d think service would be their strong suit but maybe their service is the reason it’s always empty. The first time I went the waiter pushed appetizers on us and then poured a tiny bit of my beer in the glass as if I was supposed to sample it like it was wine. Pretty much every interaction with the waiter was awkward. The second time I went to Lazziz I got pick up and they said the food would be ready in 20 minutes so that’s when I arrived. One of the cooks must of messed up because I waited there a extra 25 minutes to get my food.

So frustrating. Great food — well above average, but the worst delivery service I’ve experienced in ages. It took them an hour and twenty minutes to deliver our food — this on a Thursday at 7.30pm, from a restaurant a six minute drive from my apartment. They originally said 45 mins, which I thought was a bit much, but ok. Then they call after an hour and ask me to confirm my address(which I spelled twice for the first guy I spoke to, and which he repeated to me correctly as confirmation). I repeat the address, spell it again, he repeats it again and says our food will arrive in less than five minutes. No apology, mind you. No explanation. Fifteen minutes later I get another phone call from the driver, who asks for my address again. I give it to him. No response. I ask if he’s near our street. He says yes. I ask how near. He says, ‘your street.’ I’ll spare you, but it went on this way for far too long. Never again, Lazziz.

Indian buffet + outdoor seating? Woo-hoo! Is it the best Indian ever? No. But the place is clean, the food is ready when you’r ready, and the waitstaff is nice enough. I like it for lunch. Try: Anything you are brave enough for. some are pretty spicy!

If you like Indian food, Lazziz is yummy for a quick buffet lunch or for a relaxed dinner. Their food is fresh and delicious and never disappoints. Good service and impeccably clean. It’s on a bus line but there’s plenty of parking behind the restaurant.

The food here is very very good. The guys/waiters are very nice, but they could use a class or two in improving he wait service. Sometimes there are long waits between getting dishes, or taking drink or food orders. But overall, this is a great little place and a great alternative if you are waiting in line at Not Your Averag Joe’s next door. Also, there is an outdoor seating area next to the Stellina outdoor area. Will def check it out later this year when it finally gets warm. They could definitely turn the music up a bit as well, as the ambiance would be improved instead of hearing the people next to you talk and almost be completely involved in their conversation.

So excited to have found a good Indian buffet near work for lunch! And we went on a Friday, so I don’t think it’s only Tues-Thurs anymore. Definitely affordable and everything was super delicious and actually seemed pretty fresh for a buffet. I’m sure they change it up regularly but the chicken tikka masala was really creamy, spicy enough, and I loved the bean dish they had out. Also, my favorite is when buffets have stocks of all the sauces(tamarind, mint, onion) and I can take as much as I want. They’d get four stars except for the service was pretty… um… well. The restaurant was nowhere near full(and it’s pretty small) yet somehow it took forever to get us water, and the mango lassis we ordered didn’t arrive until almost the end of our meal — we thought they weren’t coming at all! The naan was brought out complimentarily but that, too, didn’t arrive until we were finishing up our second helpings. That said, it’s a buffet. Service isn’t exactly the number one priority, right? So, affordable, tasty, and nearby my work? I’ll be back.

We stopped by here to have lunch this past Sunday. We were one of two couples in the restaurant because we were having a late lunch(2:30). The dining room is small but that wasn’t an issue at the time. The food was really good. We had the Chicken Tikka Masala(I was sad that Malai Kofta was not on their menu…) and we had some kind of black lentil vegetarian dish. The chicken was quite buttery and rich but the portions were smaller than most Indian restaurants, but the price was only $ 7.50 per entrée so it was priced appropriately. We ordered it medium spiciness and it was perfect. We had the sweetest and most soft-spoken waitress. She was on the ball with refilling our water, taking orders, and bringing the check in a timely manner. I would go back.

*I just did take-out, so this is for food only.* For the price I was expecting a bit… more. I wanted more flavor. I wanted a bigger serving. I wanted more spice. My shahi paneer only came with four pieces of paneer in it. How is it possible that a paneer dish doesn’t even have that much paneer in it? The garlic naan was ok, but I had to remind myself that it was garlic since it was just a hit of that flavor. Unfortunately my aloo gobi, which is cauliflower and potatoes, lacked potatoes. Not one single one in my dish. The one saving grace for Lazziz was the rice. It was cook perfectly and I loved the little spice that it had. Delivery is free with a $ 20 purchase and was actually pretty quick to arrive. I would try it again in the restaurant, but never take-out again. It just isn’t worth the price.
