Shady businessman! Took advantage of me to the point where I had to get police involved. He quoted me $ 70 to CHANGE A BATTERY then wanted $ 150 for a «live wire» that he «repaired» and for a nail in my tire. I didn’t authorize any other repairs besides changing a battery I had purchased. My boyfriend did request he patch up the tire– which he said was $ 45! Gotta be kidding me. I had to come back with police to get this squared away. I paid $ 90 to never have to deal with this shady character again. Women– beware! And remember your rights. We never signed for any work to be done and ONLY agreed to a battery replacement. Mike– you should be ASHAMED of yourself for trying to scam me. PS– putting tape on a «live wire» wasn’t repairing anything. All you did was disconnect my speaker. So now I have to undo the damage you did. Thanks.
BTW– my purpose for choosing this repair shop was because I wanted to support local, small businesses. I could have easily gone to Midas for a cheaper deal. Next time– I know better.

In a word, Mike’s service is outstanding. I’ve gone to Mike several times now for repairs, big and small, and even custom work. Keeping my budget in mind, he works with me to get the very best parts at a great price, including me at every step of the process, and I always know his service is high-​quality. Most of the time, he even completes the work in the same day I bring it in! I’ve always left mike’s feeling like I’ve gotten a great deal, and that’s something you don’t get too often from typical auto mechanics! Clearly, I’ll be coming back to Mike’s as long as I own a car.

Mike is one of the few honest and reliable mechanics out there! He always does a great and thorough job. Highly suggested!

I recently moved to Watertown, and was looking for a mechanic to work on my ’99 Volvo.
I have had terrible experiences at big box auto repair centers. So I was very happy to find Mike’s shop not far from my new apartment.
Mike did a great job fitting a pair of new rims and tires on my car. Also, the engine skid plate tore loose a few months ago. I was keeping it in place with a bungee cord. I knew the part cost $ 150 for OEM and $ 65 for aftermarket. Mike saved me a lot of money by fabricating aluminum mounts to reattach the plate.
Mike is friendly and informative, and he appreciates the value of quality parts and good craftsmanship. Mike’s prices seemed fair to me. He never tried to upsell me on additional work, and he had plenty of opportunity to do so. It may be that he charges a bit more than discount auto shops, but I am happy to pay the difference for the level of skill and attention to detail that Mike brings to the job. I do plan to return to Mike’s shop in the future.

Nice guy, seems to get the work done well but overpriced and will sell you a job.
Look elsewhere is my opinion.

I have mixed views of this place…
I went to Mike’s Auto Repair because I had recently ran over a cone (I know embarrassing) and it ripped off the inner lining in front of my wheel well. It made sense to get it fixed before the winter season since it protects your car from rocks, gravel, etc. I went to a few places to get estimates and at the time Mike was extremely friendly and gave me the cheapest estimate ($ 75 for parts, $ 40 for labor).
He ordered the parts and I returned the next weekend. When I showed up to drop off the car he made sure to remind me that I need to get cash in order to pay for it, otherwise he will be charged a fee if I use my card. I’m sorry but thats not my problem if you get charged a fee… Nonetheless I went to an ATM and got some cash. By the time I returned he told me that he had to use extra clips while attaching the liner which would cost more money, he asked for $ 10 more. I obliged but I knew that was a ridiculous price to pay for 2 more clips being used.
Overall, the experience was fine. My car got fixed and for a relatively cheap price. Mike was friendly, very talkative so be aware if you’re not that type of person who wants to sit there and chat.

I used to think that the guys that charged you for everything but the actual problem you came for were just in the movies but I found one in real life. I went with my girlfriend to this place because something was causing here car to shake badly when she made a left turn. So these guys lift the car up and look underneath and immediately point to stuff and say, «Well here’s your problem!» He wasn’t under there one minute. He claimed that the pads and roters both needed to be changed. He then shook the tire and exclaimed something about the bearings are also bad and that’s making the car shake as well. Something didn’t seem right, so I walked over and inspected the lug nuts. They were loose… that was the only thing making the car shake and he didn’t even address the problem. He was gracious enough to tighten the lugs and only guilt us into paying him $ 20 for the problem that I found. There has been no more shaking by the way.

I’m pretty sure Mike just saved my car. From the moment I drove into the shop I knew I was in good hands. My car was making an odd noise, so he insisted we drive it around so he could listen to the noise. Mike diagnosed the problem and had it fixed (and some other things that I had been sorely neglecting for too long) within 5 hours… on a Saturday! I didn’t have to take time off from work. I didn’t have to rent another car. Even more impressive is that he does all the work himself.
At the end he offered me my rusty and broken down part (which of course I took, because it was really pathetic looking). Now THAT is service!

One of the most friendly auto repair places I have ever visited. Mike was extremely friendly and helpful, and took the time with me present to find the hole in my tire (it was a nail!). He told me I needed new rear brakes, then showed them to me and explained why they needed replacing by comparing them to the front — recently replaced — brakes.
I will definitely be going back. Friendly, good value, good service.

I’m a pro-​active car repair person. I want to know all about it, what broke how much it’s going to cost me for everything, itemized. I suppose getting taken for a ride a few times provoked this but there is no harm in being well informed.
Mike is a pro, he made sure to check all my fluids when changing my oil and ensured that my air filter was clean and everything was on the up and up. He’s also patient man, always willing to let you know exactly what’s going on & what it will cost, in plain and simple English.
He even was kind enough to shoot the breeze with me to fill in some questions I had about a tire replacement my boyfriend did at another shop, which confirmed my instinct that we were overcharged for a cheap generic tire. Mike’s friendly down to earth attitude and attention to detail will keep me coming back, two thumbs up!
